Happiness Charge Precure! Ep 29 Img 0017*BLINKS* Uhhhhh…. Was it just me, or was that the most underwhelming “power-upgrade” ever? Actually, did they even have a power-upgrade? Given what the preview for next week’s episode have told us, I take it that Blue and the girls have only awakened Axia into it’s true form, but have yet actually experience their power-upgrade. Nevertheless, the fight with the generals felt incredibly lazy, especially with how they rushed through it because this isn’t the big moment yet. Like, it is a disappointment to see that finally, for the first time, the generals aren’t sending out kindabads and terribads to do the work for them, but instead went after the Precures themselves. And because it was the first time, I wish they had given them a bit more spotlight instead of a millisecond show of the fight. Worse of all, the generals were taken down very quickly thanks to the girls’ combination, and would have been easily defeated had it not been for the Dark Mirror to remind them and draw out their grudge and hatred that prevented them from being cleansed. But if anything, I think this particular moment highlighted and proved the point that everyone in the Phantom Empire is being manipulated by the Dark Mirror. In fact I am thrilled to see that the Dark Mirror is FINALLY getting the screen-time after lurking in the shadows from the very beginning of the series. I knew he was a problem from the very beginning, but this is the first time we seen him take the initiative. Another thing that have been made pretty darn clear is that Mirage is merely a figurehead for the Phantom Empire as it’s the Dark Mirror who is pulling the strings of his dear puppets and is telling her what orders to assign to others. (*SOBS* That moment when Mirage was longing for Blue and Earth, ugh, my I can’t, my kokoro! She is still madly in love with him!)
Happiness Charge Precure! Ep 29 Img 0034With Phantom given the orders to take down Blue, it is no surprise to see that he is quite excited about the assignment since he DESPISES Blue with a burning passion. A part of me is starting to wonder whether he had some sort of relationship/connection with Mirage during her days as a Shrine Maiden. This could very well be another love triangle that have yet to be revealed. I mean Phantom is furious over the fact that Blue broke Mirage’s heart, that is his root of hatred and the grudge he harbors against Blue. Actuallyif this turns out to be the case, this would be quite an interesting parallel with what we have with Seiji x Megumi x Blue love triangle. Seiji cares about Megumi’s happiness and is willing to stand on the sidelines, Megumi wants everyone, including Blue and Mirage to be happy because she loves Blue and Blue

This is the story of how I broke my beloved’s heart

After twenty-nine episodes, Blue finally opened up about his past with Mirage. The joke of course is that all of this wouldn’t have happened (with Mirage as the main victim since the Axia box was destined to be opened by Hime anyways) had Blue not rejected her love for him when he in fact loves her back. It’s because he is bounded to his duties as Earth’s God that he must love everyone equally. Now with the Precure support, Blue is determined to storm into the Phantom Empire’s territory and rescue his beloved Mirage. After hearing that, everyone in the gang pretty much indirectly said: “DUDE, JUST TELL HER THAT YOU TRULY LOVE HER!”
Next week we will have Megumi VS Phantom… except with a twist of Cure Lovely VS Dark Lovely (they sure love using this trope, not that I’m complaining, it is always fun to watch). Phantom obviously does something to create that and the guy sure loves using weird dimensions. I am more or less sure that Megumi ends up fighting against him because he targets Blue so he has to take her down first, OR he chooses to target her first because Mirage hates her so why not take BOTH down to ensure happiness- oh pardon me, I mean SATISFACTION.
PS: I am still on board with the theory that Dark Mirror is Blue’s dark counterpart.

Dark Mirror’s silhouette seemed to be rather a bit creepier these days than I remember it being. Less Blue-like.
In other news, one thing Blue didn’t cover is what exactly Mirage did that resulted in her being sealed in the Axia box, or, for that matter, where the dark generals came from.

Oh yes it has been getting even creepier as the series goes on, perhaps the result of feeding off the the grief, the grudges and pain of those in the Phantom Empire.
I don’t believe Mirage or the generals were ever sealed in the Axia box in the first place. Mirage just happened to be the primary victim/target when the Dark Mirror or whatever his true form may be when he got out (and if he is Blue’s dark counterpart then that only makes even more sense why she would be the first target) and then the rest of the generals followed. As we have seen throughout the series thus far, each generals have a vulnerability that they don’t want to admit/let go of because the Dark Mirror encourages them to embrace it and manipulates them into thinking there is nothing else other than that pain.

But Mirage lived 300 years ago, and Hime let SOMETHING out of the box within the lifetime of our protagonists.

Hmmm, yeah… I see what you’re saying. Hopefully they won’t slip it under the rug now that they have mentioned the timeline factor.
