I am not going to lie, it was actually a pleasant surprise to have been wrong after I speculated that Hime might end up developing a crush on Seiji this episode. The more I thought about it, I realized it would most likely create quite a mess and make it super complicated for happy show like the Precure series. That being said, I especially loved the concept for this episode: “Working hard for someone working hard is the best support” because it is the truth. In the beginning, Hime didn’t understand why Yuuko and Megumi were so fired up to cheer Seiji on for his karate competition and was annoyed when she was thrown onto the bandwagon to make a lunch for him (when initially, she had suggested Megumi to do that instead of her loud cheering). She was able to understand a little bit when she watched Seiji practice a little before he helped her bring the heavy load of groceries home, but once Yuuko and Seiji mentioned that Megumi raises their spirits, and motivates to do better Hime understood why they do their best to support others.
Seiji took up karate so that he can become stronger and support Megumi like she always had done for him and others. Better yet, now that she’s a Precure, Seiji is fired up more than ever to help them out whenever they need back up. Today he did just that against the kindabads while Hime tried her best to take down the terribad on her own. On that note, major props to both of them, especially Hime who has grown so much over the past seventeen episodes. I am so proud of her. I was thrilled to see Seiji participate despite the dangerous conditions because he is just an ordinary guy with no super power like the girls, and he still has the courage and guts to fight alongside them (and I am glad that the writer is letting him participate in the fights at every opportunity he gets).
Though plot-wise, nothing much happened, I really enjoyed this episode because it highlighted Hime’s character growth. There were also some great one-liners such as, “Just sweat out those terrible feelings!” and it was so much fun to watch. Next week it doesn’t look like we will be resuming to the plot-line just yet, but with a wedding episode- I wonder what kind of fun will be in store for us! I mean, who doesn’t love wedding episodes? Ahahahaha! It’s a classic in any magical girl series!
