Oh poor little Tanya…

Everything went completely wrong for her. Her plan backfired and now her safe little life in the capital and in the rear lines have been ruined because she spoke too much. All I have to say is

We learn that it’s been six months since Tanya has been in the capital. She’s doing exceedingly well in her classes and everyone treats her with respect. She then meets Zettour, and most of the episode has to do with him. He finds her in the library trying to reach a book about Hannibal on a high shelf. He grabs it for her and then he calls her over to his office, and he asks her opinion about the war, and how she thinks it’ll all play out. Trying to make herself look good, because Zettour is the head of Strategics and Tanya likes that area in the military, Tanya gives amazing and detailed answers, such as there will be a world war, the military needs a different plan and what not. Zettour keeps making her talk, and Tanya thinks she’s screwing up her answers so she keeps upping the ante and came up with a rapid-response battalion of expert mages taking care of the front while they protect the defense. Zettour seems to like the sound of her plan and makes her write up the report.

He brings this proposal to the meeting and it’s decided. Zettour invites Tanya to Strategics HQ for dinner and once they’re both alone, Tanya learns that Zettour has appointed her to lead the the rapid-response battalion she suggested. After her graduation in the academy, she’ll be promoted to a captain and all of those formalities, and she has to find 48 mages for her group. Tanya is absolutely shocked that her dreams of a peaceful life is crumbling, but she has no choice but to accept this new position.

I kind of felt bad for her, but it also made me laugh because I knew this was coming and her reactions were kind of priceless. I love how in this anime we can hear her inner thoughts throughout all her conversations. They really contrast with what she really says and we can see what kind of person she really is. Also, I’m glad they always address her age, like Ugar questioning why a young girl like her is in the military, Tanya being too short to reach a higher shelf, and the baby chair she sat in at the dinner. This anime is just all around entertaining. In the end, we see Viktoriya again which is no surprise. Tanya’s bad reputation with her personality and temper is known, so I’m guessing they purposely called Viktoriya over to join the battalion to keep Tanya in check because she was the only one that was shown mercy from Tanya when she put in the recommendation for her to be officer. As usual, Visha (as the fans call her) comes in with a bright smile on her face. She’s…unusually optimistic for such a dangerous environment. Finally, we’ll probably learn more about Viktoriya because she makes me really curious.

Not much else to report on this episode. It was a good one and the conversations are always fun to listen to because they’re not too dry. Plus, Tanya’s inner thoughts are always fun. The whole time I was thinking that Tanya needed to shut the hell up because I knew it was all going to bite her in the ass later. Zettour has this villain-like aura about him. It makes me wonder if this is all Being X’s doing. Or not. Maybe it’s just Tanya being too much of a genius.

Okay one more time guys, say it with me.
