Poor Lux. He’s the new kid on the block, but what happens when the entire student body throws him a welcome party? He gets used as a prize to further the matchmaking ambitions of the academy’s headmistress. Yeah, I’d be freaking out too if a wave of like fifty girls were out to claim me as their personal possession for an entire week. vlcsnap-00003

Lux initially hides out in the workshop but is found by Lisha. She pretends to ask him about his Bahamut Drag-Ride, but when Lux drops his guard she captures him. Thankfully it isn’t long before he is able to turn the tables on her and escape. He bumps into Philuffy after, and though she manually restrains him due to her past martial arts training, he is able to slip away.

Lux’s third hiding spot ends up being what’s apparently a girl’s changing room, leading to an obligatory scene full of undergarments and cleavage. I’m now taking bets on how many naked/scantily clad girls we’re going to see by the end of the season. So far our count is at 7; I’m guessing at least fifteen. Too low?

Krucilfer is among them, and while she initially gives him a get out of jail free card when the other girls are present, after they leave she tricks him into giving her the red form moments before the bell signifying the end of the game rings. So Lux is SOL, it seems. What does she want? Ehhh, for Lux to become her boyfriend?!

Later that night, Airi and Lux meet with Headmistress Reiri privately. She has the Whistle that Ragreed used in his attack on the city two weeks prior, and she wants Lux to investigate whether it is a key (to control the Abyss creatures I’m assuming). He agrees to help. As they part for the night, Airi warns Lux to be careful of Krucilfer, because she is from an Ymir country and Airi feels like the girl is hiding something.

In the morning over breakfast, Krucilfer reveals her reasons for blackmailing Lux. Basically her family wants her to find a high-ranking noble in school and get engaged, or just get married. Krucilfer is trying to avoid dealing with those expectations, and knowing that her family will be sending a contact shortly to get an update on her personal life, Lux is to be her temporary boyfriend until that contact leaves.

vlcsnap-00021On their date the next day, Lux and Krucilfer spend their time walking around town shopping and getting a bite to eat. The sun has started to go down when they suddenly get ambushed by some men in green cloaks and metal face masks. Krucilfer defeats the peons easily, and Philuffy, Lisha and Krucilfer’s family’s butler named Alterize take the opportunity to reveal themselves.

The group goes out for a drink together, and Krucilfer’s fiance Balzeride decides to show up. He very quickly makes himself known as a creepy, pompous asswipe. When Balzeride is introduced to Lux, he recognizes Lux by name and challenges him to a Drag-Knight battle. Krucilfer decides to up the ante by suggesting they fight in pairs: Alterize and Balzeride against Lux and Krucilfer.

My thoughts: While I know we’re still only a few episodes in, this time it was Lisha’s character who got on my nerves (compared to Philuffy from episode two). I get that she is royalty and she’s attracted to Lux, but just chill girl. Watching her scowl, whine and fume every time Lux so much as talks to another student gets really old really fast. It’s made more irritating by my assumption that they’re going to be the main pairing of this show, and so it’d be nice if she didn’t turn out to be a brat.

Aside from that, I was pretty happy with this episode. I’m really liking the Krucilfer x Lux pairing, probably because Krucilfer seems a little more mature and down-to-earth against the other girls at the academy. She’s pretty, smart, and fully capable in battle – what’s not to like? Unless….?  *dun dun duuuun*

This episode was the greatest mindfck for every manga and LN reader because events were switched and changed and if you dont understand what i mean
the scene where lux and krul get attacked by a few men.. they actually are all in their dragrides and its Phi that destroys them all without mercy (and Lisha with her selfmade chimera-dragride)

But overall a classic episode where every mens dream come so true, they get scary xD
    Krul 4 best girl

Ah ok! Yeah like I think I mentioned before, I haven’t read any of the source material, so I have no way of knowing if events have been altered or switched around. I hope you are enjoying the anime regardless. 🙂

And yeah, I’m pretty impressed with Krucilfer too. ^_^v

Sure enjoying it.. just one of those animes where i am wondering if they are reading the source before making it xD

So like… every school battle harem ever then? Even Rakudai got fucked over with some of Oonuma’s choices, although of course not as badly as Antimagic, may it rest in peace. I finally got around to watching Bahamut! It’s got all the classic buzzwords from ‘Black Hero’ and ‘Weakest’ to ‘Undefeated’ and ‘Crimson Princess’. It’s like deja vu, but not really. I don’t know how badly the LN events were scrambled here, but… good luck.

That said, I do like the mecha fights. After a season of angsting over Antimagic’s still frames, it’s nice to see some really dynamic aerial fight scenes. nano.RIPE for the ED is surprisingly classy too. School battle harems aren’t really something Lerche animate often, but I guess they did do Unbreakable Machine Doll some time ago with a similar design and animation style. That was a lot lewder than this though.

As for best girl… Airi is pretty cute? I don’t have a particularly strong opinion yet.

50 girls vs 1 cute boy…why does this sound like the plot of some hentai manga?

XD I never thought about it like that until you mentioned it.
