Oh Saitama…oh you…no one ever appreciates you. Even when you save everyone’s lives from a meteor.

[HorribleSubs] One-Punch Man - 07 [1080p].mkv0055

A meteor was heading its way to Z City, causing for a Dragon-level threat. A threat big enough that it can destroy one city and damage others. Genos gets a call that all S-Class heroes are to meet up at HQ but when Genos gets there, there’s only one person there, a hero named Bang (yay!). Bang explains the meteor to him and Genos leaves in a hurry to stop it as its  about to crash in any moment. Another hero, Metal Knight, appears but only cares to test his new missiles. He’s not worried about dying as he’s somewhere far away and he’s actually controlling the drone. And no other hero appears to help, which is pretty messed up. Either because they’re too busy or they just don’t want to. Bang couldn’t really do anything himself as he uses martial arts and no martial arts attack would be able to stop that meteor. He does not evacuate the city either as he does not want to leave his dojo. So seeing Metal Knight’s missiles not work, Genos gets into the fray. In a manner similar to Iron Man, Genos brings out some new arms he’s been saving and, to power up his blast, reaches for his core inside and sticks it into his arm, shooting at the meteor. But it still didn’t do anything. It’s then that Saitama appears and destroys the meteor in one punch,

[HorribleSubs] One-Punch Man - 07 [1080p].mkv0060But unfortunately, that punch broke the meteor into smaller pieces which crashed into the city and still caused much destruction. Instead of total destruction, it was some destruction. Also, Genos gained a rank and Saitama gained…a lot. From Rank 342, he went all the way up to 5. He’s close to B Rank! He could have risen to either A or S rank had he not caused destruction. It was also probably because the other heroes took some credit. But there are problems other than the destruction, it’s Saitama himself. Genos knows that not everyone is happy about what Saitama did. Some people are actually making him out to be the bad guy for destroying their homes and possessions. And that brings us to the next scene, where the stupid Tank Top brothers appear before Saitama and accuse him of cheating and taking credit for the S-class heroes for the meteor and gaining a much higher rank. Tank Top Black Hole doesn’t fight Saitama but instead does something cruel to bring him down: use the anger from the people and crush his spirit. He goes on, screaming loud so all the people around can hear, that Saitama doesn’t care that people lost their homes, businesses were destroyed, that he’s a monster for what he’s done. Funnily enough, the news report stated to no one died in this disaster which is amazing in itself. You ask yourself, would you rather let small debris from the meteor destroy your home and you leave with your life, or would you rather let the entire meteor crash and destroy the whole city with everyone on it and have it also damage nearby cities? Basically, would you rather lose your home or your life?

[HorribleSubs] One-Punch Man - 07 [1080p].mkv0104This part pissed me off in the manga, but it pissed me off more actually hearing all the chanting and hurtful words. These people are stupid. Mob mentality at its worst. But this is something about Saitama that I love. He’s selfless. He doesn’t really do any of this hero stuff to be praised. Yeah, he became an official hero just so people would know who he was but that’s all he really wanted. So the yells from the crowd of people didn’t faze him. But I’m gonna say that I didn’t like one thing about this scene and it’s not the scene itself, but Saitama’s voice actor. I didn’t like how he performed this scene. I didn’t feel the anger from him. I expected his outburst to be much more powerful than what we got so it was a little disappointing. Saitama’s voice actor handled other yelling scenes better, but he didn’t really perform his best in this one part, which was…eh. Damn. C’mon, bring out the anger! Do that next time, please?

This was the episode I was waiting for, the part with the meteor had great music and great animation just like I expected it would. The quality did drop a tiny bit in the second half and I was disappointed with Saitama’s lack of anger but it was still fine. This episode was one of many great parts in the manga I was waiting for, but another great part is coming right after this.

The Sea King! Sea King hype. \*o*/

I’m sad to say that I agree about Saitama’s voice actor in the crowd scene. He came off as awkward, and he should have no reason to be feeling awkward because he normally doesn’t give a fuck about anything. In the manga I never got the feeling that he was upset about not being appreciated (wanting girls start a fan club for him is another matter) – just that he was pissed at the crowd’s stupid thought process (you smashed a meteor that would have otherwise killed all of us! How dare you! Derp.)

They also cut out Bang shielding Genos from debris, which…I mean, it’s not a big deal, I just don’t know why they did it. To get to the second story in time for commercials? To add in a scene with Genos going to and cheering up an uncharacteristically upset Saitama? I dunno…feels like bait to me…

But none of that matters. Because next episode. Is the start of the Sea King aaaarc!!! *heavy breathing*

Ok see I knew Genos never got Saitama out of that mess with the mob. I felt like something was weird and it was that anime-only inclusion of Genos that I didn’t notice at first! I knew something was off. Hmm…don’t know why they would add that other than to appease fangirls’ yaoi fantasies. :/

As I understand it the Tankobans are changed to some degree and have new scenes in them. Several “New” scenes and battles seen in the anime are from those.
