When you have something special to you for a long time, how do you react when it’s taken away from you so suddenly? I knew that Amami would get her sixth sense back, this show wouldn’t be the same without the ghosts. But there was one thing that Amami needed to learn to get it back: be selfish. Selfishness is a normal human emotion. It’s not a good emotion, but it’s what makes us human, and if you aren’t selfish and are too selfless you’re just going to wind up hurting yourself. Just like with anger. If you’re always angry, then that’s a problem. But if you never get angry with people you just become a pushover. These emotions are normal, but you just need a balance with them. And Amami lacks selfishness.

[HorribleSubs] Re-Kan! - 12 [1080p].mkv0049Ever since losing her sixth sense, Amami has been lost. Everyday at lunch, she leaves the classroom and goes to all the regular places where all the ghosts were. Knowing that she can’t see them, she does this anyway. The group of friends realize that they’ve also been affected because no ghosts appear in their pictures. Amami hasn’t been focusing in school and she also hasn’t been eating well, and the anxiety from all this has gotten to her so bad that she collapses in school and doesn’t come in the next day. The friends go to her house to see her, but Amami’s father apologizes and turns them away, as Amami is ashamed that she’s made them worry so much and doesn’t want to face them. Which pisses off Inoue and really worries everyone else. See, this is what I mean about Amami. She has nothing to apologize for but she’s doing it anyway, and Inoue even points that out. She’s too nice. Just too nice, and right now she’s just wallowing in her depression.

And when it comes to a person like Amami, you need a pushy person, and Inoue fits that description. This episode was a very good moment for the two girls and a bigger step in their friendship. Inoue, as the tsundere character is, doesn’t usually talk about her feelings because she’ll just get embarrassed and brush them off. But she was so worried about Amami that she took her out and took her to meet her cousins and aunt, so that she could prove to Amami that she really did make a bond with Yuuki and now even the baby. Along the way. they met up with the old man, their newlywed teachers, and Kogal’s mother. Amami mentioned ever since losing her sixth sense, she has nothing. But that’s not true, and that’s what Inoue wanted to show her. It wasn’t the sixth sense that brought them all together, it was Amami herself.

[HorribleSubs] Re-Kan! - 12 [1080p].mkv0094Inoue is probably my favorite because of this. She really does care for Amami, and really I think only Inoue could make Amami realize all this. Because she’s the only one aggressive enough to actually do something. And that makes their friendship a little more special than with the others, because these two really complement each other. They’re always helping each other and with their differing personalities, they bring out things in each other. Inoue made Amami realize that it’s okay to be selfish sometimes, and even if she can’t see the ghosts, she still has a connection to them. Knowing she’s not alone, Amami wishes to be friends with Inoue forever and also still have connections with the ghosts. And because her connection with the ghosts are so strong, her sixth sense ability was able to come back.

On the outside, Amami may seem like a perfect character but she does have her fair share of flaws. Inoue has flaws of her own, but when these two girls are together they can really balance each other out. I hope now Amami won’t feel like she’s alone anymore. Just like the title of the episode says, we are all connected. Not gonna lie, I got a little teary eyed at the end. Sheesh.

Unfortunately still a weeb

This would have made for a beautiful ending, so it really is kind of them to give us a look into their lives beyond this point. There are also a few questions that I wouldn’t mind having answered. Of course, meeting more ghosts and watching the gang grow up is a welcome possibility, too! Amami’s mom using her re-kan into adulthood sets the stage nicely for that.

I too got teary in this episode. (I get teary in every episode, not gonna lie.) But I have to say, I was really disappointed with how this episode ended. There was very little struggle for Hibiki to get her 6th sense back. All I got from that scene was, if you KIMOCHI hard enough, anything is possible. That was a real letdown. It’s not like Hibiki’s feelins were less strong before Inoue came to see her. That’s my opinion, at least. I would have liked to see more to the 6th sense’s return than just feelings. It feels to me like the equivalent of nakama powerups in shounen anime.

Yeah I see your point, I actually felt the same way. I just thought that moment was a really good moment for Amami to grow just a little bit.
