GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! THIS EPISODE, THIS EPISODE, THIS FREAKING EPISODE MAN- WENT BY WAY TOO FAST!
Please tell me that I am not the only one who was literally SHAKING throughout the entire episode? I couldn’t sit still, and I still can’t.
Despite the fact how short it felt, this episode was great- all while breaking your heart.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 48 Img 0019I should have known Mitchie had a “card-flag” on him. I mean this guy was sun shines and rainbows, singing songs about friendships that Yusei would be ever so proud of. He adapted to the situation and never hesitated to jump into the fray. He was able to rub off his goodness to the fisherman who came up an underhand tactic of collecting the pendulum cards, and together it looked as if a dream team was form. But that all came to a crashing end when their goodwill to jump into battle ended up backfiring, costing their lives instead. Unfortunately they were not the only ones who were “carded”, one of the precious ninja brothers, Hikage was carded by Sora. I fell in love with the ninjas because of their cool personalities and simply being better prepared than the failed LDS Idol Group Reiji had put together. They charmed me and made me care about them and their well-being, and goodness gracious, thank god Sawatari arrived at the scene to save Tsukikage (congrats man, you just made yourself into a momentary hero!). And this is a good thing and it is something the writers have been doing very well throughout the entire season, making us care about minor characters. Better yet, the truth is, the minor characters were the main characters today. They were given the chance to be in the spotlight, their presence mattered, and they were the ones embracing the role as a hero. While I don’t particularly care about the Fisherman dude, I am sad that Mitchie and Hikage were carded and they will not be part of the force who will fight against Academia.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 48 Img 0015All while this is happening, Serena is able to witness firsthand the horrors and brutality of the Obelisk Force. I loved that she didn’t question anything and sided up with the Standard World team. However, it was just her luck that the Obelisk Force have specifically studied her deck and style thoroughly, using it to their advantage to shut her down and prevent her from being useful in this particular fight. Unfortunately due to the pace of events, she hasn’t had the chance to ask Shun any questions, and Shun after that fall was slow to process the fact it wasn’t Yuzu beside him when Selena’s name has been called repetitively in front of him. It only clicked in for him once she used a different Fusion monster, but he is more speechless than angry about it. This is actually the first time he has been so quiet about it. Once they deal with the Obelisk Force, hopefully they will have some time to talk things through, as we all know will be a very important conversation, but they both need to get out alive and to safety before that happens.

Yuuya and Gongenzaka have been on a wild goose chase, frantically searching for Yuzu (who didn’t appear at all this episode). Dennis left them a while back (thank god, but ugh, he was the ones who directed the Obelisk Force to Serena and so all this shit happened), but this guy is a load of trouble. Until someone catches him redhanded- wait hold it- what the fuck, why hasn’t he been caught yet? THERE ARE CAMERAS EVERYWHERE. SURELY, ONE WOULD CATCH HIM TALKING CASUALLY TO YUURI OR THE OBELISK FORCE? Ugh, I hope they catch him sooner than later, because having a double agent on the team is trouble (Damnit Reiji, get your security team together!). Or maybe Reiji does know and is willing to sacrifice people to make sure he can obtain an insider within his grasp. One of the things we do know that Reiji is most likely searching for with the duel disks (such as Yuuto’s) is a Dimensional Portal or something of the sort. Reiji doesn’t have a way to access the Fusion Realm, so he needs someone who has access to that (but then he also said Serena is important for their “negotiation” with Academia). One can only hope that Dennis’ double agent role will be spoiled sooner than later- or maybe it’s just me.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 48 Img 0037One of my favorite moments of the episode though was seeing Yuuya confronting Sora head on. He made the attempt to try and get him to talk, but seeing that Sora doesn’t care about what he thinks of him, Yuuya only grew more livid and went berserk. But it was different this time. This time, Yuuto’s wishes echoed to him, and that is what calmed him down. This is probably an underrated moment because I think this development is huge. Last week, Yuuya was able to gain knowledge and make a resolution with himself and Yuuto. He was calmer, he thought things through and he made a decision. By having no doubts about Yuuto and Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon, he was able hear the inner heart, the light of their promise they share. Yuuya challenges Sora to a duel, telling him that he will bring back his true smile- and this, THIS is what everything up till now has been building up for. Now that Yuuya is able to accept the conflict and chaos unfolding before him, he can now work his way to staying true to himself and follow through with Yuuto’s wish while fighting with his life on the line. Yuuya wants to help Sora, he wants to communicate with him, he wants to understand his reasoning for his horrid actions. Will he be able to succeed? I’m not entirely sure since Sora looks ready to card him. Frankly speaking, Sora is a mysterious character. We don’t truly understand whether or not he is simply two-faced or has some split personality or something possessing him making him into that psychopath child we have been seeing.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 48 Img 0039I have to confess, I didn’t see Yuuya VS Sora being… I suppose, the climax fight of the first season. But it does in some ways make sense. I am curious to find out whether or not it will be wrapped within one episode or it will drag on to one and a half or two. In the mean time, the fight against the Obelisk Force is still on-going and now the only ones left standing are Selena, Shun, Sawatari basically subbing in for Hikage (please survive the fight!) and surely Gongenzaka will be stepping in as well. It will be funny to see Gongenzaka meet Selena, since ONCE AGAIN, Yuuya will be the last one to meet Selena.

In the mean time, I’m not entirely certain whether or not we will see Yuugo and Yuzu next week, they might hold us off for another episode- depending on where they have teleported off too. There is also Mieru who is still unconscious, whether or not for the better of her safety, but if we don’t see Yuzu before she wakes up, she will most likely be the one to share what she had saw (if she remembers) and then we will probably see Yuzu and Yuugo elsewhere. And of course, don’t forget Yuuri, he is still lurking around in search for her.

NEXT WEEK… DAMNIT, THE PREVIEW GAVE US NOTHING. NOTHING.

Random Note of the Week: LMFAO YOUKO, COME ON. GET YOURSELF TOGETHER. I gave you too much credit…

eva did you hear the news about the 2 old characters from one of the previous seasons that going to apear in arc v soon? this is going to be great right?

    1. Eva

I love it when they do that. I look forward to it! <3

It never fails to amaze me how much Reiji’s dueling system inconveniences the duelists that are fighting the obelisk force and never the other way around. Really, first Tsukikage and then all three O.F. guys before Serena or Shun get to go? And everyone trying to help them gets penalized 2000 life points. Reiji, you’re supposed to be good at planning…
I was spoiled about Mitchie going in, but it still surprised me how oddly brutal it was when he went down – blasted into the air hard enough to crack and dent the building behind him. Even Shun’s loss wasn’t that harsh… I also wanted to see more of the ninja brothers! Tsukikage had apparently defeated Mieru with ease, so I hope they find time to show some of his offensive strategies next time.
I also liked how quiet Shun’s reaction to Serena’s Fusion summoning was. Granted, he was probably distracted by his ribs and everything. But it was that sudden realization that “oh. This girl is not that girl who is not Ruri. And this girl is also not Ruri. Why Fusion.”
How much Dennis had prepared for his infiltration role? It must have been quite a bit, what with all the Yuushou namedropping and somehow avoiding all of Reiji’s cameras. Either that or Reiji’s cameras are all very obvious (or broken)
Apprehensive excitement for Sora and Yuuya’s duel next episode! Since lately, Yuuya’s duels have been hard for him due to all his troubles with action cards. I wonder if it’ll continue on with that, but it doesn’t seem like Sora usually attacks those cards much? But good point with the new realization with Yuuya and Yuuto/Dark Rebellion, maybe he’ll do something new (and less destructive) with it in the duel.

I think its because it’s a battle royal instead of team matches. So it doesn’t really matter who goes in what order during battle royal since everyone is supposed to be against each other (though of course there’s underlying teams), compared to tag duels where everyone has to alternate. Though its too convenient that OF always go first or near first, and go right after each other. But I will say its total bull how the second person can attack another player who didn’t even go yet during this.

      1. Eva

Remember kids, Academia philosophy is TO HELL WITH THE RULES! 😀

      2. nanon

[em]Yes![/em] The thing where the second duelist attacks people who haven’t had their first turn yet has bothered me since the beginning of the battle royale! Especially since it’s not really just the Obelisk Force being dicks, it’s just not how the game is supposed to work, isn’t it?
Though I guess it makes more sense that the three OF guys can go one after another in a battle royale.. and it kind of evens out since it also means that Serena and co. can also go one after another. It’s just a little annoying when all the inconveniences and set backs for the protagonists seem so contrived.

Reiji REALLY didn’t think the system through. Had the Fisherman and Mitchie not been penalized, they may have had a chance, a bit more at least for survival (despite their inevitable defeat). But then again, he’s mind set is: if they can’t even fight with 2000LP, they aren’t strong enough for to be part of this squad.
Shun hit his head, bruised or broke his ribs, a lot of pain going on, bound to make him dizzy and out of it. XD His dumbfound expression was priceless, you can see the gears turning in his head. XD
Yeah Mieru was knocked out in one go. But at the same time, Mieru was acting arrogant and her mind wasn’t in the game. She was too distracted by Yuuya. I wonder if the results would have been the same if she were more serious about it. Regardless that doesn’t take away from how badass Tsukikage is. I sincerely hope he sticks around a while longer, he’s so much fun!

      1. nanon

Mitchie and Fisherman may have lasted two turns instead of one…!! OTL
At the rate this is going, it looks like Reiji won’t even be able to form a squad what with his tendency to send people into battle with next to no information. At least it’ll be glorious when they do win! I wonder if anyone will get a chance to use that loophole to get around the 2000LP penalty like what happen in Yuzu and Halil’s duel. Like if Mitchie and Fisherman had started up their own duel and then went and forced their way into the battle royale, would the system still penalize them?
Watch Shun manage to meet up with Rin before Ruri. “Synchro?! Ruri can’t be a pawn of fusion!!!”
That’s true.. but still, poor Mieru. Maybe she’ll participate in that revival round like Sawatari! (assuming it hasn’t already happened and Sawatari wasn’t crowned default winner) I didn’t realize that Mieru actually got hurt until they showed her unconscious in Mitchie’s arms, since her fall was so comedic. I hope she’ll be ok and wake up soon, because probably now no one knows that she’s still unconscious behind that rock…

        1. Eva

You’re right about the lack of information Reiji is willing to provide to those who he personally sends into the field. While I get it’s for the sake of protecting his strategies, it’s obviously not working out- even with those who he did share information with. On the brighter now, this provides him flaws as a character, and avoids making him into genius tactician.
I more or less expect Mieru to regain consciousness before the season ends. I am hoping she won’t get carded through because her psychic abilities have proven to be extremely useful which is why believe she would be a vital player to have on the team.

          1. nanon

Yeah… in retrospect, being secretive to a degree is a good idea what with the presence of people like Dennis around, that’s a good point. After that, though, it’s more like stacking the deck against people who are supposed to be his allies. Sawatari’s line of “he filled me in on the situation!” immediately becoming “I was not informed of this” highlights it really clearly (even though I snorted at it).
I like that Reiji’s shown as being fallible even though he’s trying to manage as much as he can. It’s just not going well unfortunately orz Hope that someone calls him out on his secrecy sometime soon.
I hope Mieru manages not to get carded as well! Especially since she was the last one who saw Yuzu and Yuugo before they got warped away, no one else would be able to give that information. She’ll probably be the one who can provide any new information with Yuuya/Yuuto’s condition too…

            1. Eva

It suddenly dawned to me last night about the repercussions of Dennis infiltrating the tournament. Dennis has already learned how Pendulum Summoning works, and that I originally had thought to be Reiji’s trump card (which may not have been the case, depending whether or not he predicted the possibly of infiltrators), but that plan will all go down the drain now that Sora’s memories provided them several detailed information about it, and Dennis now knows how it works and will surely pass on the knowledge to the Professor. At this point, the Pendulum “card” probably won’t be as useful as Reiji had initially hoped it to be, and now they will have to rely on their wits and skill in order to survive and put up a fight- and that will probably including needing to master at least two different summoning techniques – especially if it turns out Academia has others like Dennis who use more than one summoning technique, which I am sure there will be.

  3. partner555

I agree, the pacing of the episode was rather quick. They sure crammed a lot in this episode.
I died a little went Yuya went over the people he witnessed first being carded. The three knights, one of the ninjas, the fisherman and the cook.

    1. Eva

      TT______TT MITCHIEEEEE HIKAGEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

  4. Miriki Takato

I swear I never care about the fishing guy, but then they just have to make him become likeable this ep and card him. WHYYYY. Michio is an angel, and angel needs to be carded.
It takes SO LONG for Shun to realize that Serena is from Fusion. I like the duel, though it’s pretty fast, seeing everyone just fight side by side is enjoyable (and be carded later).
I’m actually surprised about Sora’s attitude when he agreed to duel Yuuya. Like…he suddenly lost his psycho brain or whatever and is incredibly calm. Looking forward to Yuuya duel and not another dark Yuuya. I’m afraid of him…
Can’t wait to see Jack and Crow appear in next season either. I never thought they would really bring back some characters and do the cross over.
1. Eva

Yeah I don’t really get Sora either, he wasn’t even fazed when Yuuya was in his beserk state- but then again, Yuuya’s berserk state was WAY calmer than usual. Not sure how Sora would have reacted if the true darkness or whatever was in control. LMFAO.

But since I know now 😉
LMFAO WHAT IF YUZU AND YUUGO JUMPED BACK TO THE SYNCHRO WORLD AND THAT’S WHERE WE MEET THEM? Or maybe a flashback of Yuugo with Crow and Jack, ahahahaha- nevertheless I am excited to see old characters again!!!!!
5. Chris Marshall

Well I don’t want to outright say it in case of spoilers….though if anyone googles Yugioh Arc-V Now its bound to show up….so did you hear the news? The news concerning 5ds?!!

    1. Eva

It’s the one everyone is raving about 😉

  6. Chris Marshall

So I was doing some research on the next band that’s singing the new op that comes out at ep 50. Apparently they’re a new band formed by existing members of other bands. While their main singer is going to be the lead guitarist from 9mm parabellum bullet. Here’s a little preview of what he’s capable of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQsn6dHpOno I would have to say I’m impressed since all of their songs kind of match what will be the current mood of Arc-V. Only thing I can’t really get behind is their new ending since its done by another….boy band.

    1. Eva

They are sound really good, so I’m looking forward to their song. And I agree, their style definitely matches the mood of the way things are going! XD
