Talk about an over-hyped episode. That’s right, I said it, this was one of those over-hyped episodes for me. The truth is, Episode 45 is the one I am more hyped up about, especially with that cliffhanger because I couldn’t believe the episode was already over. With Yuuya being possessed again, Sora VS Shun rematch of doom (though that may or may not be featured at all next week) and Yuzu trying to pin point who her alternative world self is, next week will be the more interesting match ups.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 44 Img 0022My bias for Yuzu made me extremely disappointed to see that she was defeated by Dennis today, but to be fair it was due to her own errors in judgement and her dependence on her ace monster to lead her to victory. Rest assure we have no need to worry as Yuzu can still compete, and had only lost one match that was a fairly reasonable loss to the boot. The positive aspect about her duel with Dennis was the fact that THANK GOD the guy is not a two-faced prick as some of us had feared him to be. He just has a really weird way of bringing up, ‘I want to be friends so let’s duel!’. At this point I am more or less expecting Dennis to at least be temporarily part of their group- but I suppose that will ultimately depend on the outcome of his match against Selena, who I had more or less expected to target him. The joke of it all is that he is the last sort of opponent Selena ever wanted to go up against. She is looking for strong XZY Duelists to take down, and it looks more like he will be testing her patience with his performance. It will also show us how potentially strong Dennis actually is it has been implied that Selena is pretty darn strong herself.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 44 Img 0014Yuuya on the other hand finally managed to find Shun, but as expected the guy wouldn’t let Yuuya finish a sentence and the only key information he managed to relay was his promise he made with Yuuto. OF COURSE, before Shun even has a chance to process that precious information, the Knights (who are revealed to be assholes) interrupt and harassing Shun without a care that Yuuya is caught in the middle by attacking him while ‘acting’ like they are still engaged in a duel (despite the fact Shun had already defeated them). To make matters worse, Sora shows up with his Obelisk Force bros and he and Shun ditch Yuuya and head elsewhere for a rematch. Since he was left behind, he ends up witnessing the terror from Academia as the Obelisk Force proceed to seal the Knights into cards and before we know it, he is going into the possessed state again.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 44 Img 0031This is precisely the reason why episode 45 is the one to be more hyped up about is because I believe it will explain further of the mind who is controlling Yuuya- which is as far as we are concerned, Dark Rebellion XZY Dragon. This is crucial information because it certainly leaning towards the direction of one of my theories that the Dragons have good intentions in mind, but are going about it the wrong way. This struck me because Yuuya experienced Yuuto’s memories (which I am sure Dark Rebellion XZY Dragon shares) of the Academia Invasion that was triggered when he witnessed the Obelisk Force (who utterly crushed the Knights) sealing their fates into the cards. And I have no doubt in my mind, this possession will protect Yuuya from being Obelisk Force’s next target, even if it means being the bad guy (aka the Darkness). Sora obviously didn’t give two shits about him so I doubt he told the the guys to spare him.

With Academia beginning their prelude waves of invading the Standard World, Reiji had cut off the broadcast signal that is covering both Yuuya and Yuzu’s encounters. With two feeds down, the crowd is confused which brings us to wonder what Reiji will do once all feeds are down.

On the final note: YOUKO, CONTAIN YOUR INNER FANGIRL!

      SHHHHHH!!! SPOILERS

It’s bullshit that Yuzu lost, and here’s why:
Unlike RL effect, Bloom Diva’s anime deals BATTLE damage, not EFFECT damage, so Dennis’s Stilts Shooter shouldn’t have been able to reflect the damage back. Same as when he used Trapeze Magician to attack, Yuzu should have won right there because Trapeze can’t negate battle damage. But for whatever reason, the anime decided to changed Bloom Diva effect to match with RL effect just so Yuzu would lose.
I didn’t pay attention when watching this episode live, but now it’s clear that they used Yuzu to make Dennis looked good and it pisses me off. Here’s hoping Selena will win.
Also RIP to the Obelisk Force, because Yuya/Dark Rebellion is gonna murder them next week.

Now that you explained it, I’m even more pissed off about her losing. D:< I hate it when they do that. ¬_¬ *glares at episode 44 script writers* They were doing so well with her character till this point too. TT___TT GO SELENA CRUSH HIM. I'm sure she will though, little does he know he is poking a hungry tiger who is eager to rip her prey apart. Hurray for Possessed!Yuuya! ANNIHILATE THEM!

Now that the writers decided to match the anime effect with its RL counterpart, they better change other Melodious’ effects as well. It would definitely makes Yuzu’s deck a lot better thanks to the Melodious lock combo instead of just relying on her ace. Also hoping Yuzu will learn Xyz summon soon, because her deck can easily be used to spam rank 4 Xyz monsters.

        1. Eva

Kind of blows that they switched it because the anime effect was super cool. ; v ; Needless to say at least her RL effect isn’t the worse. Perhaps, if we are fortunate enough, what you had just said is the exact reason why they chose to change it, to add more versatility than being stuck with that single ace, and counting on it to lead her to every victory. With more the multiple summoning techniques highlighted in this series, perhaps this opens the opportunity to using that to the fullest. But if they are truly doing a switch, it’d be nice if there’s an article or a sort to explain their reasoning than to secretly do it. I guess we will have to wait for Yuzu’s next duel to find out whether or not it truly changed for a purpose or simply for the whim.

        2. Chris Marshall

Well Idon’t think they changed all of it (they did change the effect damage though as you said), because apparently Bloom can still be destroyed by battle in the anime, because why else would Yuzu try to protect it from Dennis’s normal summoned monsters with her Tempo Continuous Spell?

      2. elior1

eva at least yuzu still have one pendulum card left so that mean she not out of the tournoment yet and since they said the 8 dualists that will go to the next round are those who have the most pendulum cards at the end of 24 hours then she still have a chance to go to the third round

        1. Eva

Yup Yuzu is still in the game :), but with Academia in their city, it makes you wonder whether or not the tournament will truly be completed. The last ones standing might just be determined by the Academia invaders themselves.

      3. elhienn

I’m not that bothered with it because it really doesn’t matter if Trapeze Magician used “his effect” or not despite what Dennis said, because what matter is the trap, the trap was activated before the battle resumed or else Trapeze Magician would be destroyed by Bloom’s effect, so they simply switched the monsters and then resumed the battle.
It’s very annoying that they used Yuzu to hype Dennis up? Yes, it is and Dennis is this close of being a Gary Stu/Mary Sue, dude is too perfect, but after re-watching the episode I felt that it was’t just to hype the character, it may be only me or my bias, but I feel like it’s another start for Yuzu’s character development.
After Yuzu defeated Masumi and she disappeared from the plot Yuzu was without a rival to batter with, Dennis is a “Johan” character for both Yuya and Yuzu and like someone pointed, with his surprise tricks it did feel like he was giving tips to Yuzu as an entertainment, so I don’t doubt that Yuzu will also incorporate that to her duels, which is a plus.
The only thing that worries me is that, Dennis WILL lose to Serena(No seriously, if he wins then he can go to the trash can) and Yuzu’s power will severely be diminished compared to the Other Dimension duelists, I don’t know how she will be able to play catch up and power up on time with the other strong characters(Shun, Sora, Yuto, Yugo, Yuri and Serena) to be useful on the war, she will need a mentor(I hope it’s Shun, please, not Dennis, but Sister-Obsessed-Angrybird, it would be cool to have him as her new teacher and it would piss Sora to no end!)
Also, before I forget. +1 Harem member to Yuzu. Let’s update the chart of her harem members until now:(Yuya, Yuto, Sora, Shun, Sawatari ,Masumi, Halil and Dennis), Yuzu is getting more harem member than genuine Harem animes lolololol.
DAT Yuya’s voice on the preview, man, Kensho Ono is really skilled! And for some reason I want Yuzu to slap some sense on Serena or get really mad at her OrToConverHertoHerHarem

        1. Eva

Losing to Dennis does open doors for Yuzu’s character development, which is a good thing because if as you said Yuzu comes to discover that she is lagging behind her AU sisters, she is going to be busting her ass off to catch up. But needless to say, just because Yuzu lost to Dennis doesn’t mean she isn’t strong enough beat Selena. 😉 Everyone has their own strategies and knowing Dennis’ character, being too caught up in the whole entertainment focus, he doesn’t know what is truly at stake if he loses. Yuzu has shown us to be an adaptable character, so if she sees the enemy/rival does one thing and knows she is going to struggle with it, she is going to figure out how to counter it be it on field or as a spectator.
I can definitely see Yuzu looking for mentor-ship somewhere, which speaking of which, I am somewhat expecting by the end of the series that she and Yuuya at the very least will be able to do all four summoning techniques. So the question is, will she pick up XYZ Summoning next, or will it be Synchro? I’m all for Shun teaching XYZ and Yuugo teaching Synchro heehee!
And YUP I thought the same, another member for Yuzu Harem.LOLOLOLOLOL!
I like to imagine Yuzu arguing with Selena trying to slap some sense into her. But most of all I am excited and curious to see their interactions.

        2. Chris Marshall

Man, melodious really need XYZ’s if anything so having an XYZ mentor for Yuzu would be perfect. Though in retrospect, I wouldn’t necessarily say Yuzu wouldn’t be able to catch up when it comes to battling the antagonist form the FUsion dimension, considering her deck is also anti-fusion in a way. But you forgot Olga in her Harem! Honestly if this were any other anime, Yuzu would be boob grabbing her when she landed on her.

          1. Eva

Actually there’s an official deck list from Konami Japan referring to Yuzu’s Melodious deck with XYZ monsters included (READ HERE). This isn’t based on the anime but for the actual OCG/TCG gameplay. But nevertheless it is something we all want to see her use! ^ v ^/

  3. partner555

    Dennis is probably going to
lose because some synopsis on the wiki said something about Serena showing Yuzu the tragedy the Fusion dimension inflicted on the Xyz dimension.
4. Chris Marshall

At this point Yuya is more worried about his father than Youko is with her to busy being in cougar town.

    1. Eva

      *SPITS OUT DRINK* OMFG. XD

    2. partner555

The funniest part was the reaction of Shuzou, the kids and the reporter crew.
