The new member of the group, Ki-ja, isn’t used to the things the group has to do. Watching him was pretty hilarious. He is not used to sleeping outside and not at an inn, he doesn’t like the food, and he just hates insects.

He continues to have his rivalry against Hak, though it’s Hak who’s the one that always starts the arguments and teasing (like repeatedly calling him White Snake). Their relationship is still rocky. We get to see Ki-ja in action when a group of bandits surrounds them. Yun and Yona hide themselves behind bushes, while Hak and Ki-ja fight. Although he seems sweet and scrawny on the outside, Ki-ja is actually pretty ruthless when fighting. Especially since he’s never used his dragon’s claw before, he went a little crazy.

He’s impressed at Hak’s skills, who he thought was a useless person, only to be surprised at how powerful he really is. Yona finally got to use her bow on someone and scratched one of the bandit’s hands with Yun’s help. All the bandits are defeated. Hak passes out and Yun checks to see that Hak also went a little rough, and reopened his wounds.

any11.36Ki-ja basically feels like a fish out of water. He’s so new to everything, and he’s not as knowledgeable as Hak and Yun. He has tremendous power, but this whole episode he didn’t feel as useful. All he could do to be of use to the group is basically being a dragon radar, and pointing in the direction where the next dragon could be. He senses that the Blue Dragon is the closest, and when Yun picks out areas where he could be, Ki-ja takes the part as radar again and senses whether or not Blue Dragon is there. They went to all the places but he wasn’t there. Ki-ja feels like he’s not useful enough. He even catches Yona in the night, shooting arrows at a tree. Hak stops him from making any noise and explains that every single night, Yona shoots 200 arrows as practice. 200! Wow! I had no idea she was so dedicated. Ki-ja doesn’t understand why she’s doing this, but Hak explains that the shame from being useless before is what drives her to struggle and basically change herself, to make herself stronger and be of use. It was then that Ki-ja could see that she was just like him.

The next morning, Yun points out one place he completely forgot where the Blue Dragon could be. A small village right by the border, in the mountains, the same direction that Ki-ja had pointed to before. And it looks like we’ll be meeting Mr. Blue Dragon next week. This episode was a pretty calm and funny one. It’s nice to see the group grow and interact. We see sides of Ki-ja we didn’t expect. He’s so devoted to Yona that I feel like he might just grow feelings for her.

The most shoujo of all shoujo lines

Hak and Ki-ja sound like 5 year olds, with Yona kinda sounding like an older sister to them. And Yun is basically the mom of the group taking care of all these losers. He’s such a trooper. Also, one of the bandits mistook him for a woman, so that was hilarious.

Unfortunately still a weeb

I haven’t seen this episode yet, but so far the series’ pacing feels slow.. like somewhat uneventful.
