Wow… Yuuya was absolutely overwhelmed on this one. Had the match went on, Yuuya without a doubt would have been annihilated by Reiji and the Dueling School would be under LDS’ control. They were saved by a sudden event that alarmed both Reiji and his mother. Clearing Professor Marco is a very important person to these two because they called off the duel without a second thought. But that wasn’t the only strange thing that happened during the duel. It turns out the Pendulum monsters Reiji was using were prototypes, but at the same time he have to come realize that Pendulum Summon isn’t complete yet, it still has a lot of room to evolve- which I find very exciting!
It feels like whatever had happened to Professor Marco is most likely going to be connected to the enemies that Reiji and his mother have been on alert about. If that is the case, it would be interesting if it were the Knight causing problems (which in this case would help clear Yuuya’s name since everyone was present at the duel), or it could be someone else. I have been speculating about the hints that have been dropped of what kind of people we may be dealing with. If it is time travelers causing problems, (this certainly wouldn’t be the first in Yu-Gi-Oh in general) I get the feeling that whatever LDS is trying to develop, be it further study on Pendulum Summoning, or something else entirely – those from the future are trying to do everything in their power to stop it. But there’s also the factor from those from the past- which Sora has implied in the earlier episodes that he is not from this timeline. Anyhow, I am eager to see what will unfold from this as we draw closer to the main conflict.
Poor Yuuya hopes and feeling of being the one only in the universe to pendulum summon has been shattered. Up till now, he thought he was specially chosen for it, but Reiji just stomped on his dreams big time. Yuuya knows better than anyone else that he was definitely going to lose the duel. He was horrified, shocked, stunned, he was losing it despite teh fact he tried to stay optimistic, but every-time he thought he turned the tables, he realizes that he didn’t. Because I enjoy Yuuya’s style of dueling, it’s fun and engaging so to see him struggle like he had today was hard to watch. It looks like Yuzu’s dad is going to try and lift and mend Yuuya’s spirits by challenging him to a duel next week.
There were several occasions were I found myself confused and for someone like me to get the feeling or actually notice that they tweaked the rules to/or magically threw in a random card into his hands for the sakes of convenience doesn’t sit well with me. Regardless of whatever had happened, there was no way in the world that Yuuya was going to win this one, in fact- it was better choice to have the duel interrupted and Reiji’s prototypes mess up on him than Yuuya miraculously winning- because as much as I love cheering for Yuuya, I wouldn’t be able to accept his victory after such an overwhelming match.
Last but not least: Reiji is insane. What’s up with that mad!scientist look! He is like obsessed with mastering all summoning techniques!

NOTICE: Starting next week: Episode 14 – 16 will be delayed since I will have no internet access for the next two and half weeks. Unfortunately there is nobody on the team who is watching YGO Arc-V so there won’t be anyone to fill me in. This also applies to Captain Earth and Happiness Charge Precure!

    Was I the only one who noticed this is pretty much what happened the first time Yuma and Kaito dueled in ZeXaL? The hero is about to lose to a new rival who outclasses him completely only to walk away and spare the hero because something more important (something happening to someone) happened. though having your duel school being taken over isn’t really as bad as the possibility of having someone violently rip out your soul ^_^;
    Got to wonder who made reiji’s pendulum cards since he seemed unaware of the scale change and destruction downside (did he not read the freaking card 0o?)

      The scales changed on the cards’ description when they started malfunctioning.
      And awesome duel! Arc V is great, the only thing that I hope to see now is Yuya using different cards to win like the original protags, Yuzu’s deck and Yuzu’s winning important duels. I also want to see Yuzu learn how to Xyz summon XD(Yuzu-biased)

        KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE I’m all for that as well. I don’t know what we’re going to do if KNight isn’t actually future or parallel universe Yuuya. I will probably be so torn between Yuuya x Yuzu or Knight x Yuzu ahahaha!

          Same. That’s the first time I ever ship the MC x Main leading lady on Yu-gi-oh. They have a good dynamic, and Yuzu is part of what happening to him. The other girls were just… Cheerleaders, heck, Aki must be the only exception as she turned into a signer. And how many times the protags noticed that something is off with the main girl?(granted, they barely gave them enough characterizarion to worry for, but still…)
          Well anyway, YuzuxYuya and YuzuxDKnight forever!XD

      I think I know what you’re referring to, though my memory is hazy as I only watched up to Ep 23 of Zexal. XD

    Good and Scary Episode! I felt so bad for Yuya in this episode. Seeing someone besides him have Pendulum Monsters and doing a Pendulum Summon. Poor Yuya almost about to lose this duel and if it was for the duel being interrupted he meant have lost and that would have suck! But I hope Yuya learn something from this duel because I’m sure Reiji is going to fix this miss up and this miss up won’t happen again so Yuya got lucky this time but next time when they duel it won’t being happening so Yuya will have to be ready for it. Thanks to Yuzu again for bring Yuya back to the duel! Yuya was so surprise seeing Reiji doing Pendulum Summoning he was frozen by it and Yuzu had to yell his name and bang on the window to snap him out of it. Well I hope the Knight kidnapped the Professor that would be cool and that would show LDS. Also Reiji has some scary faces in this duel and when his Pendulum Summon miss up.

    Arc-V is showing some real quality, I’m so glad they didnt go the way of Zexal. Its like zexal was trying to be serious while being really retarded and silly. But Arc-V is like acknowledging its silly flavors with added solid substance. I like the hippos they’re funny. And I like the main character. I didnt give a crap about Yuma and wanted him to die but Yuya I actually do care. I just hope they chose to get a better dub voice for him than what voice they gave for Yuma which sounded like the most annoying @%#ken thing on the planet when he was yelling. They have a chance to get Yugioh some popularity back.

      YGO Zexal was definitely targeted to the new and youngest generation to introduce them the way the game works. Kids probably loved it, but as a young adult I couldn’t stand it. Arc-V is definitely stronger as you said, well balanced without being too silly and too serious. It definitely has some of the elements that made me love YGO 5Ds so much.
