Wow, it sure feels like Winter season flew by fast!
At last Spring Season is here, and there’s so much to look forward to!
Seasonal Updates
As promised back in January, here’s a follow-up some things I needed to do after migrated to the new server. I’ve mentioned in the post about my decision not to import a pool of past writers due to the sheer amount of lost media (images) content for context in many of our posts from 2020 and older. I’ve since tried to check through all the back-ups I had found, and unfortunately much to my disappointment, they were not the files I was looking for… It would’ve been great if they had been, then I would’ve been able to restore the website 100%.
But on the flip-side, as much as it sucks to have lost that, this also helps keep the costs for the cloud storage down. The more files I have in there, the more it’ll cost. Ultimately this migration was for the purpose of cutting costs since things were just getting too expensive with the old service, so this does fall in line with that. For that reason, I’m still weighing the decision to upload the remaining backups because so many of them were broken. On top of that, I’ve yet to finish sorting through the categories. That’s going to take a while, but at least it’s a lot more manageable to do! I think only after I finish organizing that I’ll know whether I’ll do it, based on how long it takes to get it done.

Shadow: I’m so glad we didn’t have to wait six somewhat years for this to come out. But we’re here again and I am not missing out on talking about this series! I’ve recently been rewatching the entire series with a friend and man, a lot of these characters have come such a long way. There were also a lot of things I forgot happened in the earlier parts of the series, so I’m glad I went back so hopefully I will be mostly prepped for the upcoming season. I have heard this arc is going to be a doozy and from what I saw from the trailer, I don’t think I’ll be emotionally or mentally prepared for anything that is going to happen. Gotta mentally brace myself for whatever is going to happen, but hopefully it’ll be a good ride.

Eva: Okay this might sound very strange as someone who hasn’t read the manga yet, BUT I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THIS! Like AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! It just feels so exciting that we’re in this period where we’re finally getting just core magic adaptions or series that have absolutely nothing to do with isekai, just raw traditional, old school magic formula in all it’s glory. And high quality ones too like Frienen! Like this is such a good time to be a fantasy/magic genre fan! I freaking love it!
And the amount of self restraint to not dive into reading series the moment I heard about it— because when I did, I REALLY wanted to. But I really just wanted to watch this adaption first, because sometimes it’s better to save the original source for after you watch the adaption to fill in the gaps, and sometimes you don’t notice as much what gets cut out. It’s always a coin toss on how well that’s done. April can’t come soon enough!
Shadow: Visually, this looks amazing. Almost movie quality. I might have to take a look just because of how clean and visually appealing it is. Initially I don’t think I was gonna take an interest, but after seeing the trailer, it looks great.

Eva: I’m very excited about this one! The author of this series also did Violet Evergarden, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, so I’m mentally preparing myself for an emotional roller-coaster with this one, but I’m so ready for it! I haven’t been able to get the novels because it hadn’t been in stock when the sale finally came around, but hopefully that said sale comes back soon because I fear the availability for these books once this show starts airing. (Stares at the Silent Witch Vol 1 still being out of stock…)
I will be definitely watching this, and it’s among the titles I’m strongly considering to cover this season.

Eva: The set-up is hardly anything revolutionary, but I’m always a sucker for this premise. I’m ready for the hilarity that will ensue when he bases his strategy on her favourite shojo manga!

Eva: Oh it’s so frustrating that I’m still behind a whole season! When this series first came out, I really wasn’t that interested in baseball, but over the years that has changed, and I think it was probably two years ago (whoops) when I finished watching the first season– which I loved every second of! Unfortunately I haven’t had the time to start watching second season of Act I, let alone the first season of Act II. Maybe it’s for the best that I’m behind, because it has had some stupidly intense games that ended in cliffhangers for weeks on end, so now I can just binge this one once I’m caught up! Yay!
But it’s worth mentioning there it’s a different studio and staff adapting this season, but it’s OLM, so I think it’s in good hands.
Possibility of Watching: YES! On my Watch-List once I’m caught up!

It offers a different dynamic as well as offering more opportunities to explore different aspects of their lives. I haven’t read the manga for this one either, but I’m really excited to see what this story has to offer us. The PV got me hooked!

Eva: This looks super fun!
Shadow: I’ve actually read a couple chapters for this series and it seems pretty fun. The twist through me for a loop initially, but I’m willing to give it another go in anime form. Since I’m sure the anime has a chance to make it a lot more flashy and whatnot. I’ve heard good things about it so I’m definitely willing to give it a try. Not sure if I’d blog about it, but I’ll have to just wait and see how I feel about it.

Eva: First off I’m super excited for this series. I’ve only come to learn about it recently, and heard some great things about it, so I’m eager to check it out. But I’m not gonna lie, I really hope they have plans to expand to other regions beyond North America and Latin America. Personally it drives me insane when companies put “GLOBAL” in their name, only to reveal only select regions in the world get to watch it. It’s like when Crunchyroll would announce “Available for North America” and then have “Canada and Mexico excluded” after the fact. It’s the same stupid messaging, and it’s drives me nuts.

Eva: Apart from the time regression, the premise and even the PV’s vibe definitely reminds me A LOT of Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun. And I do like stories where characters are seeking to improve themselves, pursuing self-growth and that kind of stuff. The key difference between the two is that one is completely set in the present, where-as this one goes back to the past to start from the starting line again. Anyhow as this is right up my alley, you bet I’ll be watching this, and may potentially cover this one.

Eva: Ooh how exciting, an Opera School setting! This series is only five volumes long, so we’re probably going to see the entire thing adapted which is always exciting to see! The PVs certainly highlights the tensions between the characters. We’ll have to see how this pans out.

Eva: Okay for some reason, I thought I covered the first season, but obviously not? 😂 Wow I’m so confused with myself right now. I even looked up my backups and files to see if for some reason I forgot to upload Jan 2023 stuff— and apparently I didn’t. ALRIGHT THEN. I did not cover it! No idea why I thought I did, but I guess it does go to show that I did enjoy the first season a lot! There is a part of me that’s certainly tempted to cover this season, but I think I’ll enjoy this best just watching it. After-all it’s my my sugary wholesome dose of the week, you know what I mean?
That said, I did like the series enough that I do have up to Vol 6 of the novels, though I’ve only read up to vol 4… but it’s been so long I can’t remember the contents of it so I better reread that again, eheh… Oops. Well at least I’l be going into this season blind yet again, so that’s something to look forward to.

Eva: This was a series that I wasn’t quite in the mood to watch when it first came out. It was a bit too slow for me at the time so I had on paused on episode 4 until recently. Fortunately I’ve been able to catch up to Season 3 before this aired, so I’ll be able to watch it weekly. I’m not sure yet if I want to cover it since it can be quite slow, but we’ll see. Probably a show I’m better off just watching than covering.

Overall Thoughts
Eva: It’s exciting to see I got another healthy handful of series to look forward to this Spring! At first I thought maybe I’d be safe this time from the crisis of struggling which ones to pick and stick with, but after doing this preview, I quickly realized that’s not the case! Haha… this is fine…
During Winter 2026 Season, the first time in a long time, I covered four shows for an exchange (which was fun!)! I was especially lucky last season to have been able to just somehow finish writing up all twenty episodes of Love Through a Prism in a span of a weekend, so technically I really only had to cover three shows. But I’m not 100% sure if I can take that many or more this time. I’m trying to be careful not to accidentally burn myself out, especially since Summer looks STACKED, and the past two weeks been real rough with my chronic migraines, so all of that will be factored into how many I pick up. For the mean time, I think I can confidently cover three shows or four shows if it’s spread out enough over the course of the week, and doesn’t conflict with my work schedule. So we’ll see how I feel.
Among the titles that have caught my eyes: I’m especially looking forward to Tongari Boushi no Atelier the most, followed up by Agents of the Four Seasons (and thank GOD these two shows are not airing on the same days!). As of right now, these two are the most likely to be picked up. The toss-ups for the third and maybe fourth show I’d be covering will be between The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten S2, I Want to End This Love Game, Haibara’s Teenage New Game+, PonSuka, MARRIAGETOXIN, The Ramparts of Ice, and Eren the Southpaw…
….Ah… crap. Yeah this is going to be tough call. FFFFFFFF——!!!!!! At least it’s not a three way battle for most of them.
As for the rest, Ascendance of a Bookworm S4, Awajima Hyakkei, Akane-banashi, I Became Friends with the Second Cutest Girl in My Class, I and eventually Ace of Diamond act II: Second Season once I’m all caught up. I will look forward to just simply watching them and see hope I enjoy it! And if it didn’t make the list here, what other shows caught your eyes this season?
Shadow: Overall I’m mostly just looking at Re:zero. However, I’ll also be keeping an eye out on MARRIAGETOXIN and Atelier of Witch Hat which I may just watch on my own time since I’m pretty bad at balancing two shows at once. Not much has been catching my eye lately so hopefully I can at least enjoy the few that have caught my eye. In any case, I am looking forward to how much emotional damage Re:zero is going to give me lol while also possibly enjoying the two other series on the side.
