THEY CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS. Two weeks in a row they keep hitting us with these cliffhangers. Not to mention the second time in a row where they end with a close up with this guy’s eye lol. Thankfully Zanka is “okay.” I say in quotations because while he is still alive, he doesn’t seem too thrilled about his situation considering his expression. We officially get to meet Mr. Crazy who goes by the name, Jabber. To which, I already do not like him since I generally have a low tolerance towards the crazy and deranged characters. I feel like Jabber is loosely based on Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter due to his deranged love of fighting and sparing people with potential to be strong. Not to mention they both share a “fascination” towards the main character. Though we’ll see if Jabber ever becomes a more interesting character since despite his… “quirks”, Hisoka is actually a very interesting character. So far, Jabber is just really annoying to me.
For some reason, I had a bad feeling something was going to happen with Gris. A part of me wondered if he was feigning being the cool big bro he portrayed himself being or something bad was gonna happen to him. Thankfully it wasn’t the former because I did really like the dude. Unfortunately, the guy got freaking shanked. The fact it all happened so quickly and from Rudo’s perspective, you couldn’t even tell it happened. And of course, this does not sit well with Rudo because it immediately sends him into a spiral due to reminding him of what happened to Regto. Hopefully Gris makes it out of this alive T^T. I would hate to have Rudo not be able to save yet another person who got stabbed in front of him.
But man, I love the fact that Rudo ended up using Gris’ lucky charm as the weapon for this battle. He was literally using Gris’ wishes for everyone to return safely as his shield. Which is honestly really sweet because I think Gris was able to touch Rudo’s heart in a way by being such a bro to him. We also find out that Rudo’s true abilities stems from not making everything he touches into vital instruments, but brings out the full potential of the items. Which makes a lot of sense considering how Rudo is as a character as he seems to see the true worth in every object. Though I think it has also extended to people as he sees a lot of worth in Gris despite not being a Giver. Contrasting Jabber who deems Gris as worthless because he can’t use a Vital Instrument. Rudo’s ability definitely matches really well with who he is at his core and like how it was built up to this point.
The fact that Gris’ lucky charm became an instrument that wards off violent intent and even paralyze them is actually pretty cool. Especially since it came to be due to Rudo’s imagination in that regard. And man did it feel good to have Rudo punch the living crap out of Jabber’s face. Though I did wince a little because of the pain Rudo must feel on a daily basis from his “curse” on his hands even if the gloves he wears dulls it to an extent. I do wish he punched him in the neck though since that would have done some serious damage and probably help stop this guy from talking so much because at this point I was done with Jabber.
Despite the advantage, OF COURSE Jabber has to find a way around the talisman’s protection. While we didn’t see how it played out because the episode decided to RUDELY end it there, we can only assume at this point that Jabber is just going to continue being annoying but this time unconscious. I do hope that the Talisman will still try and protect Rudo from all harm and just put a complete halt to Jabber’s plans. But we all know it’s not going to be that easy. Hopefully Gris makes it out alive, but I’m getting pretty concerned by the amount of blood he’s losing. We don’t need to traumatize Rudo more by making him feel powerless.
Though also interesting to note that Follo seems to also have potential to be a Giver, hence why Jabber let him live. I do wonder if this will come into play later. Especially since Gris had talked about Follo trying to create his own Vital Instrument in the previous episode. Which honestly makes me very concerned for Gris’ well being because they seem to be building up Follo to be a bigger character. And for all I know, they could be building him up to eventually fill in Gris’ shoes because guy doesn’t make it out of this. But I hope I’m wrong about that for Rudo’s sake.
