Kicking off the New Year, I will be running the Winter 2026 Coverage solo. There’s a lot of shows I’m excited for this season, so I’m looking forward to the premieres!
As for Shadow; since nothing caught her interest this season, she hopes her schedule will allow her to finish covering SSSS.Gridman and finally get the AOT final impression done (her words not mine LOL).
In other news, we’re finally ready to make the long overdue migration. On December 24th we will begin our migration to the new server. We’re hoping having a week to two weeks buffer between the season will be enough time to safely iron any issues before the Winter Season. Eva: Holy shit. When I first saw this announced to have been green-lit, I honestly couldn’t believe it! It’s been over 20 years since the manga ended!!! I remember reading this back in high-school and I absolutely loved it! ; v ; I can’t tell you how excited I am for this, and I just hope they do it justice. It’s been soooooooo long, but I do remember some key bits of it, but otherwise I’m sure it’ll be quite an experience to revisit it again! But considering how old it is, like many series that came out around that time, it will be interesting to see how this one aged.

Eva: Ooooh!!! This is probably the one of all the titles of interest this season that almost slipped under my radar. Once I saw the PV, I was hooked to the point I didn’t want to watch too much of it so I stopped about a minute in! So sign me up, because this looks like a potentially fun show to cover! 🍿

Eva: I LOVED LOVED LOVED the first season! I cannot watch to be watching the second, but I’m not sure if I’ll be picking it up. I didn’t cover Season 1 back when it came out since I was travelling at the time, and I was already prioritizing The Apothecary Diaries, so I’m a bit tempted to give it a whirl this time, but honestly I think I got even more enjoyment out of being able to chill and just binge-watch it.

Eva: Oh I cannot wait for this one! I actually hadn’t heard of the manga until I saw this announced, but I recognized the art-style immediately and I knew I’ll be watching this! I’m so down for these comfy old-school fantasy series, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what Higuchi Tachibana has to deliver this time!

Eva: Wow I’ve long been waiting for Fate/strange Fake to be adapted for SO LONG!! But I’m not sure whether this is something I want to cover or if this might be more of a binge-watch show for me. I’m still thinking about it, but until then, I’m looking forward to it!

Eva: Okay, so I was doing one last run down through the Winter 2026 titles when I came across this one. Color me intrigued, this will be one of my wild card picks of the season, and we’ll see how it pans out! I heard very good things about the game at least, so hopefully the adaption will do justice!

Eva: Okay there’s like, as usual around this time, we got bare minimum information about the new series. I am hoping this could be my cup of tea this time as I do miss Precure! It’d be fun to cover again!

Overall Thoughts

Eva: Goodness! I have no clue which ones I’m going to pick up this season! There’s so many good potentials, and I don’t know yet how many shows I’ll be covering yet either. I hate to admit it, but I definitely have become maybe a bit too comfortable with only covering two titles as of the late. We’ll see how the schedule pans out for me, because in the end, that’s what determines whether or not I have the time to cover more than two!
But if I were forced to choose three which shows I’d take a gamble with covering today, it would be Hana-Kimi, The Holy Grail of Eris, and Diary of a Strange Land. That actually surprises me a little bit considering a week ago as I was preparing this preview, I was convinced I’d be covering romances all over again hahaha! We’ll see how well this prediction holds!
As for the runner-ups: It would be Champignon’s Witch, Tamon’s B-Side, and Moonlit Dusk, in about that order I’d say. There’s just too little information on Star Detective Precure at the moment to really be sure if it’s going to be to my taste. As for Medalist and Frieren, as much as I’d like to cover them, it’s always harder for me to jump into a series that I didn’t cover the first season of. Fate/Strange Fake is probably the strangest position of it all being a toss-up of to watch now or binge-watch later. I can’t remember whether I liked The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom or not, so I’ll have to go into this blind again hahaha! And finally for The Case Book of Arne, it is the biggest wild card of the season because I don’t know what to expect from this one!
Either way, even though I don’t have the full lineup listed here, I do think we got a good batch to look forward to this season!
I am so stoked that Holy Grail of Eris is getting an adaptation. On the surface, it seems like a variation of the million villainess stories out there, but the plot is really where the story shines. My only concern is whether it will do the story justice, since the manga chapters can be pretty dense and there’s a lot of them. Hope you enjoy it!
