Well this episode was insane. If I had to describe it, it was a lot like watching dominoes falling, once one fell the rest followed. It ended up like this due to some real dark shit happening with Yuuya, his counter parts’ and their dragons- that even spooked the Obelisk Force and Barrett. It was exceptionally creepy when they were repeating the mantra of ‘We become one’, ‘Revival’, and I’m like, “Become one? Revival of what? What the heck is happening?!?!?!” YGO ARC V Ep 92 Img 0003As all of this is takes place, there was this giant black hole or vortex of a sort forming outside, then Yuzu comes running with her eyes solely on Yuuya and her bracelet shines the brightest and calms to the dragons and sends all the boys flying into the ceiling, the black hole thingy is still outside though-, but much to my surprise, Selena’s bracelet however didn’t appear to contribute to anything. This makes me wonder if the bracelets each serve a different purpose. Following this event, since Barrett is super impressed with Yuuya’s will to keep fighting, the resume their ‘honorable’ duel (as he calls it) – but again they are interrupted when Sergey of all people crashes the party. Long story short: Sergey takes out Barrett with is Earthbound monsters, who then retreats back to Academia after his defeat, but not without Selena. Since Selena was taken by Academia, Jean-Rogers orders Sergey to make sure he captures Yuzu, so now Yuuya has to fight against him- and that damn smile card still doesn’t pay off the despite the fact he decides he will at least try to let Yuzu smile (and free her from Sergey’s weird prison effect) and just like that, even though Tsukikage had just arrived at the nick of time, Yuuya is defeated and Yuzu gets captured. Now she is going to be one of those princesses stuck in a tower unless she has a way to kick her way out, rescued, or wounds up being captured by Yuuri before that.

YGO ARC V Ep 92 Img 0026So within this chaos, we were given a hint for one thing: the Smile card will likely serve not simply to make others smile, but to be Yuuya’s rock, to keep him grounded when that darkness tries to consume him. Yuuya understood he was not in the situation where he can be careless and try to make others smile. Instead, he decided he will at least try to make Yuzu smile since she was scared for him when he was making a scary face while he was going berserk. It was a touching sentiment, even more so since it freed her from the prison effect, but unfortunately it did not pay off because Sergey still had the upper-hand. Actually now that I think of it, with the way his robotic eye is working, could it be he is actually cheating in a way? But still, regardless of encountering errors, he was still able to defeat Yuuya.

Since Selena has been recaptured by Academia, I am hoping this will be our window of opportunity to find out what is happening and perhaps she may even be able to locate the other girls now that she knows of their existence. However while that sounds nice on paper, I am concerned the Professor might try to brainwash her, I fully expect him to have that capability since they checked Sora’s memories.

Even Pendulum Summon wasn’t new enough, Jean-Rogers had a secret trump card up his sleeve. Turns out he had created a spell card to permit the user to simultaneously Synchro summon and Fusion summon. Well, I know that once Reiji hears about this, he is will most definitely grab it for future mass production, and to use against Academia since Barrett was just as shocked to see it too.

Next week, the Friendship Cup must go on! We will be seeing the match up of Jack VS Sergey, as Yuugo (as I expected) wounded up disqualified, probably because he is unconscious somewhere or Jean decided to do that because there is nothing Yuugo can do about it and the rising within the commons has already begun. Regardless I am looking forward and am hoping Jack will ultimately defeat Sergey, though it would be an interesting plot-twist if Sergey does end up defeating him, forcing Yuuya to compete against him once more.

The robot is just a solid vision-ver of Tsukikage’s monster. Also a little hype-tidbit.
After the synchro dimension, they’re going into the XYZ dimension where 2 more past characters will come into the cast. Most likely be alternate versions like Jack and Crow….though Zexal has a little more leeway to be canon with Arc-V so IDK where that stands. I won’t say who so hopefully you won’t be spoiled, but its one from Zexal and one from GX. And I will say, I’m completely excited for the GX character because out of all the GX characters to reuse, this person would have probably been one of the last people would have guessed.
For future reference you can check the FAQ page. I have instructions how to put in spoiler tags there.
For now, this is how you do it: [ spoiler ] insert spoiler here [ / spoiler ] (*remove the space). It is generally the same format most forums use.
I can also vouch that is creditable source for spoilers, I used that site for 5DS spoilers and episode summaries back in the day! xD

Thanks for the heads up!
Note Spoiler below is for one of the upcoming characters:
The thing I like about them adding Asuka into the cast is because her deck is a wild card. It can either be fusion, ritual, or even XYZ (since her manga deck actually has an XYZ monster ironically)
Now I’m just patiently waiting for the Synchro-realm arc to be over with because of this….it didn’t prove to be as great as I thought it would be (you have the commons vs tops to thank for that).

Thanks for the clarification, I couldn’t remember the last I had seen it other than from one of the OPs, I’ll make the correction.

I deliberately spoilt this when the episode was still RAW, but across the past few days apart from CNY family visits (and waiting for subs) a lot of people became salty towards YUZU for playing party-pooper by separating 4 Yuyas with her bracelet (Serena… again her bracelet did nothing…) But FUCK YOU SERGAY for he was darn active in this episode wasn’t he?! First he curb-stomped Barrett, who deliberately wrestled Serena back (holy crap she got separated from the rest of the crew in such manner, oh no…) and the Obelisk Force kinda retreated without Yuri, then his Earthbound forgeries crushed Odd-Eyes Rebellion and Yuya got KO’ed, and finally he brushed off Tsukikage & Sora so easily with his mecha-body to capture Yuzu, who was now officially Roger’s bounty after he was pissed that Serena slipped away from his hands, oh Yuya there’s another hell you’re going through 🙁
Last but not least, while I’m also gutted that Yuya lost so easily to SerGay (then without his interference Barrett would’ve beaten him anyways) at least I can look forward to Jack crush that behemoth (afterwards Yuya duel him in the final and (as the writers’ plot) has 99.9% chance of defeating him this time) and can’t wait see how Roger will react afterwards XD Please Atlas-sama vanquish that behemoth for us once and for all!!

I would like to ask of you to please use the spoilers tag next time, I would really appreciate it. Fortunately I wasn’t spoiled because I asked one of our writers to add the spoiler tag for me since I know they are not watching the series. For future reference you can check the FAQ page. I have instructions how to put in spoiler tags there. For now, this is how you do it: [ spoiler ] insert spoiler here [ / spoiler ] (*remove the space). It is generally the same format most forums use.
It was sad to see Yuuya lose so miserably against Sergey, and gets punched in the gut for not being able to protect Yuzu or Selena. 🙁

Thanks for the info on putting spoilers. Thumbs up if you want to see Jack destroy SerGay! And.. cute avatar you got there :3

This series gotta be one of the best spinoff Konami produced as well as…. THE MOST TRAGIC. You don’t see complete genocide for prolonged periods of time here (3 YEARS FOR THE XYZ DIMENSION) in other series and there is one heartbreak after another without any one of them solved quickly (Yuya dear hasn’t experienced something like
Yuma losing Astral for like 6 episodes and getting him back that soon-
he just got Yuzu back only to be snatched away from his very eyes again).
Hey Sora, you are now the unofficial Lancer standing in for both Yuzu and Serena.

I feel like the Director has learned SO MUCH of what he did right and what he did wrong in 5DS, and implemented everything he learned from it to make this series into a masterpiece, along with the help of a brilliant writing team. 5Ds was fantastic, but ARC-V just raises the bar to a whole new level!

I gotta to say this was a crazy episode to say the least. When it first came out in raw from what I heard a lot of people hated it for some reason. I just think this as well as most of the majority of the Synchro Arc pretty good just not super great as in some things could have been handled better.
People hated when Yuzu appeared stopped the berserk which teleported the Yuuri and Yugo(which I found funny and said that no one made a reaction to), but if it wasn’t for that then Yuya might have ceased to exist with the counterparts becoming one with him. Same-thing can be said with Serena getting drugged for at least 5 episodes but it was somewhat of a good excuse to having Reira prove himself minus his PTSD.
What surprises me the most was having Yuya lose at an important duel like this, granted he would have lost regardless with Barett. Previous protagonist always make high comebacks in parallel to win but in this case it fits Yuya perfectly with his conflicts and showing just how much is at stake. Having the Obelisk Force doesn’t exactly meant it was an invasion especially when comparing to what happen with Heartland, instead more like a retrieval mission same as Standard. This episode displayed a heroes failure which was okay with me from Serena being sent to Fusion by Barett after his loss and Sergery victory leaving him to kidnap Yuzu by force which I didn’t expect(every-time I see that scene I sing “Rocket Man” by Elton John”).
Lastly, I was sick of people consistently calling Yuzu a damsel in distress that gets kidnap a lot and worthless in this Arc. Yuzu has done her own thing a took most matters to her own hand such as trying to warn people about Fusion(despite it failing), cheering Yuya up after his lost against Jack, tried again to warn people about Fusion while showing concern for Seregy(which ended up badly) and convincing Sora to turn good(which if it weren’t for that Tsukikage would have been carded and the Lancers losing a valuable member). I doubt almost getting killed after a duel with Sergey and being saved can be called being a damsel when really that can happen to anybody. This was the only time she ever gotten kidnap and with what was just shown, what could she do against a man like that?

I actually didn’t expect Yuya to lose like that, it was a really good twist that i dont think anyone saw coming. It makes him more vulnerable and able to grow unlike most of the previous protagonists (Yuma did grow but he took ages to become a likable or even relatable character) who nearly always won their duels with one or two occasional losses.
Yuya has had a terrible day really with reuniting with Yuzu only to have her snatched away the very moment he manages to be face to face with her.
I also whole heartedly agree with being sick of people describing Yuzu as a Damsel in distress! She is NOT a helpless/useless person in the slightest, i mean yes she’s worrier which admittedly gets on my nerves a little sometimes and may be the reason people view her as a damsel, but she doesn’t just stand in place and LET herself be captured, she dueled her way to get away from security after her crash! And she took it upon herself to find Yuya when she feared she was in trouble from the flashes her bracelet was giving!
Not to mention she is a stunning duelist!! Definitely strong, no doubt about that! She’s only unfortunate enough to be targeted by evil groups that want to use her and her counterparts… (now that i think about it… why do they need the girls if its only their bracelets that hold power? can’t they just remove them?)
And with that same arguement isn’t Selena also a damsel? especially in the past few episodes and even in general. Because although she broke out of academia, she doesn’t willingly go back once she learns the truth and she’s being chased down for it having to have other people protect her.
I can totally understand your annoyance at Yuzu being outed as a damsel! I can spot a damsel from a mile away and they look NOTHING like Yuzu!

1. 75chaosflare

To be honestly I never favored Yuma in Zexal, it was mainly because during the first part he always portrayed as stubborn and sometimes selfish and at most naive protagonist. Yuya despite having flaws of his own have displayed strongly with how much his father’s disappearance affected him and how much he tries to grow on his own.
I think it’s kinda of a different reason besides just the bracelets. They all have a main connections such as Yuzu’s counterparts with bracelets Yuya’s counterparts through dragons, probably implying they all use to be one being.
In some cases Selena could be seen as a damsel but I kinda find her as a bit too reckless that always affected most of the people around her, such as most of the Battle Royale where she felt she may have been responsible for Yuzu’s disappearance. Also during the Synchro arc instead of staying out of sight from security she leaves fighting a bunch of duelist in the open which later got them being found and arrested.

1. Becs

I agree with your point about Selena, she most definitely is reckless and eager to duel almost the first person she sees in a rash manner. It’s kind of one of the reasons i love her and she is my favourite of all the counterparts so far (I like Yuzu, she just worrys a bit too much. Which is fine but she sometimes lingers on it a bit too long like in the beginning when she started doubting if Yuya and Yuto were different people or not.).
Selena has a lot of traits that usually the boys have, in shounens particulary and she still makes herself likable because she is sympathetic and not a typical tomboy. She feels like a character!
I think her personality is also understandable because for so long she has never had the chance to prove herself as an exceptional duelist and now that she’s out of that prison of Academia she wants to take every opportunity to show her opponents that she’s a force to be reckoned with. Although we are seeing her grow because i think even Selena is starting to see that charging ahead to recklessly fight isn’t always the solution and that dueling can be an enjoyable experience.
That’s the most brilliant part about this series is that despite many characters having flaws we do see them work through and develop.
I think this current arc has just been unfortunate for Yuzu really, people all around her are trying to take her and she has almost nowhere to run. It does seem as if people are just viewing her as a damsel because everyone is after her. It’s quite easy to draw that conclusion from a shallow persepctive…

2. Eva

Yeah I don’t know what people are going on about when they call YUZU a damsel in distress because this girl been taking matters into her own hands whenever she could. She is the initiator and has the brains to know when to retreat from battle (eg: fleeing from Yuuri after realizing she can’t beat him).
Sergey is a fucking cyborg if Sora and Tsukikage couldn’t even hold him back, of course Yuzu wouldn’t be able to either! XD It’s a no-brainer!
It is great that Yuuya has lost, it breaks the trends on the unstoppable protagonists and unbreakable plot-armor! :Db
