This episode was CRAZY in terms of animation. I almost have nothing really to say because the action, animation and cinematography were so captivating. Not to mention we actually got to see Bundus fight, which has been something I’ve been wanting ever since revealing his weapons. And boy, did they deliver. Bones really whipping out the animation budget for this one. Though I do wish the movements were a little slower since it was hard for me to really take in what was going on sometimes since I’d blink and something else was happening. But I do love the fluidity of the movements.
Not only does Enjin show up for Rudo, but everyone else as well. Rudo really has lucked out with these guys with how loyal they are to each other and wouldn’t even think of abandoning their own seemingly. Though what I found interesting was Enjin and Riyo’s bond. I’m honestly not sure what to think of it since it seems like a combination of a handler and a close comrade in arms. Since he seems to immediately clock her braided hairstyle equals her having possibly killed someone. And while she hasn’t killed anyone and only heavily wounded them, her habit of styling her hair according to what she has done is very interesting and you have to wonder why she does it. Despite Riyo having to seemingly restrain herself from killing her enemies, she and Enjin also seem to be on the same wavelength when they’re about to start a battle. They just have to look at each other before engaging. We won’t know the extent of their relationship until the story explores how they met and whatnot, but the mystery of it is very intriguing.
The timer for when the kaiju trash beast starts as it begins it’s ascent towards the border. And while it seems like it could have been a simple task to just destroy the core, Bundus shows up to be an obstacle and like I said earlier in the post, I’ve been waiting to see this guy in action. To which, I did not expect this guy to be a newbie raider in training. I seemed like a seasoned veteran. But the guy proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with because all of his mechanical arms were giving all of the Cleaners a run for their money. Even Enjin who was supposedly the strongest out of the bunch couldn’t even put up much of a fight against him. To which, I still feel like they haven’t really showed off Enjin’s full power aside from his first appearance when he took out all of those giant trash beasts. But I think the one who took the biggest L in this fight had to be Dear because that was pathetic lol. The guy wasn’t even trying and got beat up by a bunch of finger puppets. I feel like they haven’t shown us the true extent of Team Child either I haven’t been overly impressed by anything they’ve done so far. Especially the kaiju girl since she’s done nothing but chase after a roach and get a concussion.
For a hot second, I thought Rudo was gonna use his gloves as the weapon and I was concerned towards the idea of the gloves crumbling away afterwards. But it turned out he just ended up powering the nail gun he was using to the 3rd stage instead of spreading it out to three objects. Which was pretty sick, not gonna lie. And man did they go ALL OUT with the animation for the launching of the giant nails from a freaking cannon. The animation in this moment felt very Bones with the electricity at the start with a slowmo and then going into fluid and fast movements. They did not have to go so hard on that animation and yet here we are lol. I actually heard that some people have been complaining about the adaptation and I feel like they have no room to complain with how faithful it’s been along with some stellar animation. I mean, just look at what transpired with One Punch Man season 3. Must I say more?
Out of all the villain characters so far, Bundus is probably my favorite so far. The guy is funny but also can be a complete menace. His abilities are pretty cool too. Not only that but he seems to have a real attachment to the mechanical arms that he made, to which even Rudo could empathize with. He also just doesn’t seem evil or a crazy whackjob either. He acts more like a silly uncle and I like that about him. I kinda hoped he’d come over to be a protagonist by the end of this because I think he and Rudo would get along pretty well since they both seem to be “fixer-uppers.” But it seems like he’s been officially welcomed in by the Raiders so I think there’s no way for that dream of mine. I can’t wait to see him again in the future though.
But wow, I really do not like Zodyl. The guy has been getting on my nerves for the past few episodes and the fact he wanted to use the Cleaners as a test to see whether or not people can pass through the Border with the kaiju trash beast but wasn’t gonna stick around personally to see it. Like bruh, get out of here with your nonsense. Aside from being left behind in the trash beast that’s headed for the border, but Riyo’s unfinished business just got her second wind and she is MAD. Riyo probably wishes she finished her off now since she’s come back to finish the job.
This episode was pure hype and definitely a sight to behold. We’re nearing the end of the series and I’m super pumped to see how this arc ends.
