SAE SWEETIE, KOKI COULD NOT BE MORE OBVIOUS TODAY!

Holy shit, Koki was completely enamoured by Sae today. Like goodness, first he complimented how cute she was today and the last time they met at the park, he was blushing like mad when they almost brushed lips on the train to the point he had to cover his face probably for the rest of the ride. Then he couldn’t help but be more interested in gazing at her than watching the movie! The way he was looking at her was sooooooo soft! Sae noticed because she had been doing the same to him, and internally freaked out for a moment that he caught her doing that. And then later, when Sae was actually giving directions, he had assumed she was being hit on and stepped in to say she’s with him. (This was actually hilarious and gave me real second-hand embarrassment on his behalf, poor guy.)
And of course, the most important moment was when Koki straight up told Sae that he wants her to see him as a man. It’s not a confession, but HE’S SURE SPELLING IT OUT TO HER!!!! Unfortunately Sae still thinks she’s not the star Koki had been talking about (and it doesn’t help that Subaru was fuelling that misunderstanding further, which I’ll get to later), but she’s at least starting to feel a bit more hopeful and open to the idea that Koki has been watching her as she has been doing with him. I’m also glad that she told Koki how much she enjoyed spending time just the two of them together, and how she wants to do it again.
I gotta say, what’s really lovely about these two is despite the quiet period during their junior high days (which Koki reasoned, it was largely because they were in different classes at the time), is that they’ve actually known each other for ten years now. It’s something that makes Koki really happy too. It was nice that spending the whole day together made Sae feel like they were able to make up for that lost time, and I’m sure Koki felt the same. It’s actually quite endearing in a way how the two of them are actually developing their courage at the same pace, because they are able to encourage the other to take that extra step to progress their relationship.
Finally, the last two points: The first, let’s address Subaru. I’ll be honest, I’m not really sure what to make out of her at the moment. Koki described her as someone who constantly bullies him, and today while Sae didn’t quite see it the way I did, I did feel like we seen a bit of that side of her. Was it just me, or did anyone else feel like the whole thing of getting super cozy with Sae out of the blue felt… odd? She strikes me as the nosy, pushy type who sets the pace of things. She didn’t even ask her if she was okay with being called on first name basis. Then all the sudden she brings up how she heard that she and Koki have plans to go to the movie together, asking if he grown up at all as she still sees him as a little kid, goes on about how he was a wimp, called her a “star” , and then proceeds to apologize about the way Koki invited to a movie that’s for kids. This whole time I was thinking, ‘Uh… Where is she going with this?’ Because why is she apologizing? Why should she? Besides the fact it’s none of her business what movie they see, it was also Sae who asked if they could see it together. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it felt almost as though she was sabotaging Koki by going on about how he’s still acting like a kid. She’s throwing around all these assumptions, all while failing to see how much Koki has grown up. It was Sae who had enough of hearing that who put her foot down to say that she never thought of Koki as childish.
And lastly there’s Youta. Man he’s such a nice dude, I keep fearing though that he might be developing feelings towards Sae and i’m like: PLEASE DON’T! I DON’T WANT YOU TO BE STUCK IN THE THE GLOOM OF UNREQUITED FEELINGS! He’s just such a nice guy, and we can understand why he finds it comfortable to hang out with Sae because she’s okay with silence. That said, he did prompt Sae to play Shogi with him today with an offer that if she won, he’d tell her why Koki had gotten mad during the trash pick-up. Naturally that was GAME ON– but it does go to show that he too is at least aware of how she feels towards Koki. Unfortunately she lost, so we didn’t get to learn the exact reasoning, but I’m sure we all know that it was because Yushin said something stupid about Sae that he was sent tumbling down that hill. After-all, Koki will not tolerate anyone slandering her. Anyhow, I just hope they really do keep things platonic, because they really do have potential to be great friends.
Next time, school festival! Sui really wants to help them move along with their feelings and hopefully get one of them to confess, but Mio’s job will be to keep her in line if she does try to do anything. Sui really has nothing to worry about as Koki and Sae are progressing quite well now that they’ve made up their minds to win each other’s hearts. It’s just a matter of who will confess first! Who will it be~ heehee!
PS: I laughed so hard at the reference of “I AM YOUR MOTHER” from the movie. Their reaction was priceless!
