TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: I am not really sure what I think of it to be honest, but I am curious enough to want to find out.
Oki: I think the premise is super interesting, so I’m in!
Midnight: I’ve been keeping an eye on all the promotional content for this series and the sheer amount of pushing from Crunchyroll. I’m not sure if it’s from interest in the plot or from sheer overexposure but I am at least mildly interested in checking this one out. I hope it can live up to all the hype they’ve built up around it.
Aplus: Plot is interesting, it’s source is incredibly popular, it’s up my alley in terms of genre. I’m in for this one. If I made it through Asta’s screaming, I’m sure this one guy who yelled throughout the entire 2nd PV will be a breeze.
Shadow: The premise looks interesting and Crunchyroll has been pushing for this one a lot on their social media. However, I’m not sure if this will be my cup of tea since the 2nd PV made me tired from all this guy’s yelling. I’ll probably watch a few episodes to see if catches my fancy.
Tsuyoku: Jump fans have been very vocal about how good this story is, but for some reason I’m not really interested? The genre is one of my favorites ever, but I guess the sort of wasteland setting doesn’t do much for me. I might check it out after initial reception by the general public.
Quietcupcake: From watching the first PV I got a really familiar feeling from the narrative, however that could be due to the amount of promotional material that has been pushed out for the series. It does seem like it will have some pretty in depth story telling and for that I’m excited! I’m pretty on the fence about this one, like others here, I’ll probably watch the first few episodes and see where it goes from there.

TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: Oh man, this is definitely one of the bigger titles of the season to look forward to given how much praise people have given this series! I would like to check it out, but I don’t think I’ll be able to stomach the scale of violence that is bound to happen.
Oki: Holy fucking yes I love this show, I love this story. The source material is absolutely phenomenal and I can’t wait to check this out! If you’re looking for an amazing story about Vikings, don’t let historical fool you. This story is filled with plot, action, adventure and so much more.
Midnight: Pass – Lost me at historical
Aplus: YES! I’m so down for this. I also heard Iskandar’s voice actor in the PV which just guarantees my viewership. I love these historical type shows, especially when they revolve around action and adventure.
Shadow: I’ve heard good things about this series and the fact that Wit Studio is working on it, basically guarantees that it’ll have great animation. However, I am a little worried about Wit Studio’s track record in regards to story writing. Other than Attack on Titan, a lot of their titles suffer from lack luster story. Looking at you Kabaneri and Owari no Seraph. Though if they keep to the actual story from the manga, I’m sure they’ll make a good adaptation. I may have to give this one a watch.
Tsuyoku: I’ll be checking this one out for sure, although probably not weekly. I haven’t read the manga, but I am familiar with the work of the author and it’s all very high quality, which means I have to check out how the adaptation goes!
Quietcupcake: Hoo boy! The promotional video definitely got me interested in this one, though on first glance this generally wouldn’t be a series that I would be into. I’m interested to see how characters are developed as the series progresses. I’m interested to see how the community receives it.

A group of anti-evil zealots who call themselves “DA” are causing havoc, and it could threaten the city―not to mention the entire world. Although he hates to be bothered, a world-shaking threat may be enough to get Accelerator out of bed, especially if it involves the adorable Misaka Mikoto clone, “Last Order.”
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – Never watched this series
Oki: PASS – I don’t know anything about the story and just don’t feel interested. Just looking at the cover I get this generic anime vibe from it. Also the ‘adorable’ clone just irks me. It’s definitely not my cup of tea.
Midnight: Pass – Never watched past ep 5 of the original series
Aplus: The season we’ve all been waiting for. It’s been great to watch Accelerator develop over the course of the seasons, from basically pure evil to an antihero. He always delivers the justice that I want to see, in a nice counterpart to someone like Touma who always wants to talk things out. The recent Index seasons have definitely been, uh, questionable in terms of pacing and quality, but I’m still on board with the series as a whole and will be tuning in for this season too.
Shadow: PASS – I dropped the original series a while ago
Tsuyoku: PASS – Never watched this series

TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: Although I have heard about its manga series, I have never actually read it and only know it’s by the creator of Soul Eater. The premise definitely has my attention and the PV looks super cool and fun, so this is definitely a title I will be watching this summer!
Oki: PASS – Not interested.
Midnight: I’ve seen a lot of promotion and hype around this show. I’m not entirely sure what to make of it yet, I probably wouldn’t want to cover it but I do want to be watching it for sure.
Aplus: I’m a hoe for art styles and, to be honest, just the PV already confirmed I’d be checking it out. The plot is also cool, which is a nice bonus.
Shadow: I’m really interested in this series just from the premise and the pretty epic looking PV it sported. It gave me a lot of Soul Eater and Blue Exorcist vibes, only to find out that it was made by the same guy that made Soul Eater. No wonder a lot of the designs looked similar. Definitely excited to see what kind of insanity this series will have.
Tsuyoku: The PV really looks amazing. I was a bit on the fence based just on the summary, but now I’m definitely more interested to check it out. Definitely watching.
Quietcupcake: Oh man, I’m pretty excited about this show. I love series that take everyday things and turn it into the super natural. I don’t know much about the series beyond the PV, but it looks fun and exciting! I can’t wait for this series to start!

In her attempt to find a casual gym, she meets Akemi – a comrade-in-arms. Little does Hibiki know, Akemi has an ulterior motive. What will this wonderful world of fitness have in store for Hibiki?
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – You lost me at ecchi.
Oki: PASS – There is a serious issue with making a show about getting chubby and weight loss an ecchi. This is sort of a sensitive topic and it seems to me that this would appeal to a sort of fetish marker. I’d love to be inspired and think the show is cute, but I doubt they’ll handle this with the hand they should.
Midnight: pass – Why does it need to be Ecchi?
Aplus: pass – Ecchi

Oki: PASS – I haven’t seen the first season
Midnight: Pass – haven’t seen the first season
Aplus: Whoa, I didn’t even know this was getting a season 2!! Hell yeah! Season 1 was great. A very nice blend of comedy and romance. Definitely on my watch list. Not a very bloggable show though so I’ll be silently enjoying it along with everyone else.
Shadow: PASS – Didn’t watch the first season
Tsuyoku: PASS – I watched the first season but I didn’t like enough

With the discovery of an old, unmanned spaceship nearby, the students must stay strong, manage their limited resources and remain united in the darkness of space, so that all of them can survive their long and likely perilous trek back home aboard the Astra.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – I read the whole series last year, but it’s not one I am particularly interested in revisiting only because I know all of its secrets and I never particularly grew attached to any of the characters. It’s the type of series where its the mysteries’ twists and turns are what keeps you reading. And because of that, for those who have not read the series or know nothing about it, I do recommend giving this a shot! It is a lot more unpredictable than you may think!
Oki: I am tentatively curious. If the mystery and science can keep me involved, I’d be happy to cover it. But so help me god if it’s 5 episodes of uninteresting slice of life with no real space elements I’m running for cover.
Midnight: Pass – Looks like it would be fun to watch, not something i’d want to cover though
Aplus: It looks new and it looks cool. Waifus in space. Mystery sci-fi is enough to rope me in. I’m curious how realistic / gritty it will get.
Shadow: PASS – Not interested in space related themes.
Tsuyoku: Mystery and Sci-Fi? I’m definitely picking this one up! It hits a personal spot for sure and I like the designs so I’ll check it out.
Quietcupcake: Pass – It looks like it could be fun to watch, but it hasn’t really caught my interest.

The girls in a high school literature club do a little icebreaker to get to know each other: answering the question, “What’s one thing you want to do before you die?” One of the girls blurts out, “Sex.” Little do they know, the whirlwind unleashed by that word pushes each of these girls, with different backgrounds and personalities, onto their own clumsy, funny, painful, and emotional paths toward adulthood.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: Honestly, I’m drawing a blank here. I don’t know what to think, but I am curious enough to want to watch the first few episodes to get to know the characters and the direction the story will go.
Oki: I’m…..cautiously optimistic? This could be a realistic show with a good homage to themes. I’ll check out the first episode but no promises. I love the art style so.. . . .there you go!
Midnight: Pass – Doesn’t look like something i’d be interested in
Aplus: I like these sort of, watch them grow up and mature shows. I’m sure there will be a few moments that’ll make me cringe, intentionally, and it will bring back a flood of memories I never wanted to remember from my high school days. I’m probably still going to watch though. Actually, I’m definitely going to watch this. It’s interesting that there’s no comedy tag. If this is all straight up drama, something like Domestic na Kanojo then it might be one of those situations where I can’t stop watching even if I want to.
Shadow: I was originally going to pass this by because it looked too moe for my liking. However, after looking at the PV, I got a lot of Your Lie in April vibes from the music. I doubt it’s going to be tragic, but just judging from the music alone and the summary, it may be hiding an emotional side that no one is expecting. So I’ll give this one a try and see if I can get past the art style if it can hit me in the feels somehow.
Tsuyoku: Pass – Doesn’t look like something i’d be interested in
Quietcupcake: I can go either way with this one, reading the synopsis of it has me wary because I can see this moving into uncomfortable territory, but I love shows where we get to watch characters grow up and mature. But if I’m honest, it seems like everything is pretty. The animation, the music, the atmosphere? They’re all pretty and that’s what has me interested! This anime seems like the type to have me suffer from second hand embarrassment one second and then immediately have me sobbing uncontrollably.

A mysterious alpaca-headed host gathers them after the initial stage, to explain how the game will proceed. Will the group of gamers clear the game and make it back to their real lives?
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – Something tells me this show isn’t for me.
Oki: This is definitely a Midnight type of show, and I’m game to check it out. (But I’ll definitely step aside if it’s the kind of show it seems to be!)
Midnight: So i’m not gonna sugar coat this, yes, this premise sounds killer. I loved the PV, this looks amazing all around and i am 100% into it. Yes, YES just yes.
Aplus: I 100% agree with Shadow on this one. A total toss up. Keep my hopes low and go in with a blank slate.
Shadow: Hmm, I’m not sure how to feel about this one. The premise sounds interesting on paper, but the art style looks pretty generic and it feels like there is a 50/50 chance that this will probably not be that good. I’ll give it a look to see if it surprises me, but I don’t have high hopes.
Tsuyoku: This kind of mystery survival game genre thing is something I’ve been getting into the last few years, but this gives me bad vibes, to be honest. I might watch a bit, but I’m not interested in covering it.
Quietcupcake: I’m excited for this one! I’m a sucker for groups of strangers having to work together, and this seems like it has quite a fun cast of characters.

He then encounters Mafuyu Sato, who’s holding onto a broken guitar, and decides to fix it. The moment Uenoyama finishes fixing the guitar, Mafuyu becomes completely attached to him. However, after hearing Mafuyu sing it leaves a deep impression on him.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: It has music and romance, one of my favourite combinations! Of course I will watch this!
Oki: I’m interested in the show and the art looks absolutely beautiful, but it seems like something I’ll binge watch at the end of the series.
Midnight: Romance, Shounen Ai, music…Yeah, this sounds like something i’d like to give a shot.
Aplus: Music and romance is a combination I can’t pass up. The PV makes it seem music-focused, as in the music tag isn’t just a way to draw in viewers, which is great. I like when they animate playing instruments well. It’s a small thing but it adds so much.
Shadow: PASS – Not interested
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not really interested
Quietcupcake: I’ve heard so many good things about the series and as a musician myself, I’m constantly drawn to series like this! I’m really interested to see how the characters develop overtime, oh man, I can already see that this anime is going to hurt me.

Genre: Action, Drama, Fantasy
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
During a protacted civil war that pitted the North against the South, the outnumbered Northerners used dark magic to create monstrous super-soldiers called Incarnates. Now that the war has ended, those Sacred Beasts must learn to make their way in a peaceful society, or face death at the hands of a Beast Hunter. Nancy Schaal Bancroft, the daughter of an Incarnate, turns to hunting the hunter herself. But once she catches up with her quarry, she discovers hard truths about the lives of these Sacred Beasts.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: I am sure I am not the only one (among those who haven’t read the manga series) who couldn’t help but be reminded of Fairy Gone‘s premise a bit. But this is another manga series I have heard great things about, so I trust it would be a lot better. I will probably be watching this one this season, but not sure if I’ll pick it up to cover though. I will throw my name down in the ring in case is sparks my interest.
Oki: Top notch animation with some gritty themes. This might be a show I love or it could be a show I find falls flat on its face- I’ll give it a look. Here’s hoping the interesting character designs and great animation are a consistent element in the story.
Midnight: Pass – Not usually too big on war themed shows with minimal exceptions.
Aplus: This seems like a show that won’t be great, but that will carry me through with the action and fantasy. I’m not expecting a lot, just some mindless action and some dope explosions. The plot synopsis kind of hints that there will be some sort of twist or something. Again, not getting my hopes up, but it could be more than meets the eye.
Shadow: This one looks… overwhelmingly dramatic. It also gives me 50/50 vibes of whether it will be good or not. However, seeing that MAPPA are the ones working on it, that gives me hope that this could turn out pretty good considering their track record. I don’t think I’ll blog about it, but I’ll definitely give it a watch to see where it could go.

One day out of boredom, Tanaka decided to give her classmates nicknames based on their quirks. Her friend Sakuchi became “Ota” for her nerdy interests, and her other friend Saginomiya became “Robo” because of her expressionless personality. In retaliation, her friends decided to name Tanaka “Baka”. These are the ridiculous days of three high school friends claiming (or not) the height of their youth.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – These type of comedies have never clicked with me.
Oki: PASS – I can’t cover comedy without falling asleep on coverage halfway through.
Midnight: Pass – No interest
Aplus: If this is going to be what I think it’s going to be, I’ll save it for the highlights. Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, Nichijou, Sakamoto, Aho Girl, all the high-school based, multiple skits per episode shows that get boring when watched in quick succession (for me personally). When it’s done airing though, they’re great to watch on youtube for the funny moments.
Shadow: It looks and feels super generic and I can’t see the premise going very far. However, I have been surprised by unexpected anime such as Gekkan so I may have to give this one a try to see if it can tickle my very strange funny bone.
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not really interested
Quietcupcake: This series seems like it could be a lot of fun, of course it definitely depends on how the characters are treated. I’ll probably give this one a try for a bit and see I can get a good laugh or two out of it.

Yuuko Yoshida, is a 15-year-old girl who awakens one morning with demonic power, and is tasked with defeating a local magical girl. She has horns and a tail, but truthfully less power than an ordinary girl. She struggles to lift the “curse of a 40,000 yen (about US$365) per month living.”
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: I feel like this is actually what I need and want right now. Another light-hearted and fluffy magical show! I doubt I’ll cover it, since slice of life comedies can be difficult for me to write about, but I will most certainly be watching it!
Oki: Wacky and fun, I’ll probably watch this show but I just can’t cover this kind of content. How do I explain how a joke made me fall on the floor laughing? By ruining it!
Midnight: I am not sure how I feel about this one to be honest. It could either be completely insufferable or one of of the best off genre comedies we’ve seen in a long time. I am really digging the fact we’re going to be following ‘the demon’ instead of the magical girl. We’ll have to see how this one pans out.
Aplus: There have been many attempts to spin the mahou shoujo genre ever since Madoka came out. I find they’re usually unsuccessful and end up being generic af. I’ll tune in for the first few episodes for sure because I like the idea of following the inverse character. If it turns out to be a thinly veiled ordinary magical girl show though, I’m ready to abandon ship.
Shadow: It’s hard for me to gauge how interesting this will be on its summary alone. A part of me is somewhat intrigued by the fact that this is like a inverse of a magical girl anime by instead of becoming one, she becomes a demon instead. However, I’m not sure I’m sold on the whole idea that she’s actually weaker than a normal girl. So I’ll probably give this one a look, but I’m not holding onto any high hopes.
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not really interested. Seems kind of generic moe to me.
Quietcupcake: I’m generally a fan of magical girl shows, and I like that this one isn’t going trying to go for tragedy. I’m not expecting it to be the anime of the season, but I expect that we’ll get some cute moment and a little laugh out of it.

TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: Oh it’s another rugby this time! I am really happy to an increase of variety of sports aside from baseball, tennis and soccer!
Oki: PASS – Sports
Midnight: I think i’ll keep an ear to the ground to see what this show is like. Not something i’d be immediately interested in watching, but if I hear it’s good I might start watching it a little later into the season or binge it when the season is done.
Aplus: SPORTS. I tried to watch All Out but couldn’t get into it. I’m excited for this one though. I think rugby and american football are the only sports I haven’t found a show I liked for.
Shadow: Is this going to be the sports anime of the season? I haven’t heard much about it so it’s difficult for me to get a feel of how this will be. I’ll probably give it a couple episodes but I’ll keep my expectations low.
Tsuyoku: Sports anime is another one of the genres I quite like and I’ve never watched one about rugby! This is something I’d be interested in checking out for sure.
Quietcupcake: I’m really excited for this one to come out! Series that have characters who’ve lost their spark, but someone else helps them find it are something that I will never get tired of. Plus, I haven’t really found a sports anime that I haven’t enjoyed, so I really hope this one won’t be any different!

Being the weakest, he then falls to the depth of the abyss when he and his classmates are exploring a dungeon. What did he find in the depth of the abyss and can he survive?
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – As soon as I read “transported to another world”, it killed my interest.
Oki: PASS – The art style bores me.
Midnight: So from the summery I was completely disinterested, then I saw the PV’s and I developed about a hundred questions and anything with a ‘psychological’ tag has a least a little bit of my interest. I’ll give watching it a shot, who knows, it could be good.
Aplus: Psychological isekai? Oh yeah, I’m in.
Shadow: This honestly sounds like a Shield Hero copy with the guy having the “weakest/lamest” ability out of a group and is looked down upon because of it. Not to mention it just looks like it’ll fall into the typical isekai harem trope judging from the poster. I’ll give it a chance, but I have doubts I’ll be that into it.
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not really interested
Quietcupcake: Pass – I’m wary of isekai, I might pick it up if the overall reaction is positive, but it’s not something I’m excited for.

But they are not the only ones called that way. The will of the previous owner states that the assembled contestants—including Luviagelita Edelfelt—must compete in a game of wits to win the castle.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: BEST BOY WAVER ALL GROWN UP! While I have grown a bit tired of the Fate series, and their spin-offs been a hit and miss over the past few years, but I WILL ABSOLUTELY WATCH THIS FOR MY BOY MAN WAVER!
Oki: I can’t cover this because it will 100% be me crying over how pretty Waver is now, but I’m excited to see if this adaptation holds more water than the others.
Midnight: My boy Waver is all grown up and he’s so badass, this will also feature a character that I adore and that is Flatt Escardos. I am just, so happy to see this being produced and I can’t wait to get around to watching it. I’ve been holding off on ep 0 until the show actually starts airing. I don’t think I should cover this though, because 90% of it will just me be crying about how much I love Flatt and Waver…oh excuse me. Lord El-melloi.
Aplus: Everyone has said my thoughts. Waver, my boy!
Shadow: I think this series had me at TROYCA considering that studio has made two of my favorite series to date (Re:Creators and Idolish7). I’m really interested to see where this series goes and I’m digging the art style, almost giving me a Tales of Series kind of vibe. I didn’t realize this was part of the Fate series until someone mentioned it. While I never got into the Fate franchise, I feel like it’d be totally up my alley if I actually sat down and watched it.
Tsuyoku: I watched the first season of Fate/Zero and then sort of forgot about it, so I doubt I’ll be checking this one out anytime soon.
Quietcupcake: I’m so happy to see all this love for Waver!! I haven’t gotten too deep into the Fate Series, but the overall premise and PV have me drawn in! I will definitely be watching this season!

While in their previous world, Taichi is a normal person who just has higher than average reflexes, both he and Rin gain high levels of physical and magical ability, and begin their new life as magicians.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – I just need a break from the isekai genre.
Oki: The PV hasn’t really shown me enough for me to decide if I’m interested or not. I might look into one or two episodes but otherwise, unsure.
Midnight: Pass – I’ve already decided to look into at least 1 or two Isekai’s this season and this one doesn’t peak my interest
Aplus: Generic? Maybe. I know every sane person is tired of the isekai genre (and for good reason), plus there are already one or two that look better than this for the season, but I can’t help myself. I need this escapism in my life and no one can stop me now. I’ll watch them all, garbage or not.
Shadow: The fact that isekai is already in the title says a lot. I’m honestly tired of isekai yet my curiosity keeps me wondering if they’ll actually make one that I can actually enjoy.
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not into the genre
Quietcupcake: PASS – Not interested in the genre.

What would you do if you got transported into a video game…with your mom?? That’s the dilemma facing high schooler Masato Oosuki, who has been unwittingly thrown into an RPG world with his doting mother close behind as part of a secret government scheme. As an avid gamer, Masato is eager to show off his skills…but that’s hard to do when your mom is an insanely overpowered, dual-wielding, multi-target specialist!
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – Again, unfortunately I’m just burnt out from these type of stories.
Oki: I love Isekai- so I’m watching this. I have bad luck with comedy but this seems like the stupidest, most fun show I’ve ever heard of. Will have to see how I feel after episode 1.
Midnight: Honestly, while I am getting a little burned out on this genre. This one sounds just funny and interesting enough to peak my interest, i’d be willing to give it a shot and I’ve heard a ton of praise for this anyway. Might as well right?
Aplus: I just went on a whole shpeal about isekais and how I’d watch all of them. Bring it on, I say. I do think this might be an interesting enough situation to where it doesn’t really feel like an isekai since it’s the mom that’s OP? I don’t really know. These days isekai are usually 30 seconds in episode 1 of someone being a person, their whole life story in 15 seconds and then them dying and being transported in the next 15 seconds. I’m gonna watch it, is what I’m saying.
Shadow: A part of me wants to give this a chance since it stars the protagonist’s mom, but… I’m really tired with the overpowered protag trope even if it’s the mom. But maybe it’s better than it looks/sounds? Maybe?
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not into the genre
Quietcupcake: PASS – Not interested in the series.

The cute girls who gather around him are all weird and with reasons!? Who is the Cinderella who sent the underwear? The mystery called out mystery, even hentai was called out. A new feeling of love comedy that calls out hentei begins……!!
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – This type of romance is rarely to my tastes.
Oki: PASS – Did someone say ecchi garbage?!
Midnight: Pass – Yeah, this sounds like absolutely ecchi garbage.
Aplus: Am I trash enough to watch this? Do I really not value my own time to the extent that I’d consider spending 20 mins a week to watch a bunch of perverted girls flirt with a guy who has never had a girlfriend? The answer to these questions… is yes. I’ll at least check it out. We’ll go from there. The question is, will I blog it or is this the type of show that you watch silently, alone in your room and never speak of to anyone? I’m willing to find out the answer to that question together, with all of you.

Oki: PASS – Love Isekai but not into the art.
Midnight: Pass – I swear i’ve already signed up for a few Isekai’s this season! Why are there so many?!!?!
Aplus: ISEKAI. ISEKAI. ISEKAI. I love how much is getting pumped out this season. Feed my addiction. OP protagonists with no real challenges surrounded by waifus. ISEKAI. ISEKAI. ISEKAI.

Devil or not, Latina is beyond adorable, and the adventurer soon finds himself head over heels with being a parent. But why was she out in the forest to begin with, and why does she carry the mark of a criminal?
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: It have heard this is a sweet series, so I’ll probably be watching this. Been meaning to pick up the novel too!
Oki: PASS – It looks good but I’m never gonna get over characters named Dale and Latina.
Midnight: This sounds really cute and i’ve heard a lot of super good things about it. I’m probably going to at least give watching the first episode a try.
Aplus: Lol ‘Dale’. Cool and composed Dale. I’m going to watch this, but I can’t believe I’m alive to see an anime character named Dale. It seems sweet. I like the father daughter type shows. Alice & Zoroku, Sweetness and Lightning, those types of shows. If it’s anything like that I’m totally down to clown. I like that the description even says Latina is ‘beyond adorable’.
Shadow: PASS – Looks/feels super generic even if it is in a fantasy world.
Tsuyoku: PASS – Seems really generic
Quietcupcake: PASS – It seems like it will be cute! But I don’t know if it will hold my interest.

Eva: YES! Now we’re talking! As long as its not too gritty, this will be soooo up my alley! I hope it’s good, it looks like fun!
Oki: It actually looks really fun. I’ll give it a shot for the first episode and see if I’m able to cover it.

TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: Oooh, I heard Ensemble Stars! is Idolish7’s game rival, so that makes me very interested in its potential quality of story! I hope it will be good, because I would be so down for more series like Idolish7 since it really raised the bar for me when it comes to idol series!
Oki: PASS – I can’t idol
Midnight: I’m not big on idol shows but I have heard so much praise for this game and so much hype for this anime that even i’m excited for it. I’m probably not going to end up covering it, there are already two people down as possible bloggers as I type this but I do hope it turns out to be a show I can enjoy watching.
Aplus: pass – not into genre
Shadow: Oh heck yes! Now this is a boy idol show I can be excited for! I’ve only heard good (and pretty dramatic) things about the game, even rivaling Idolish7 for fans. Don’t worry Idolish7, I’m not betraying you, but I need something to fill the void while I wait for the 2nd season. But man does the art looks really good and the fact I didn’t see any CG (yet) makes me excited. I actually listened to some of the songs on youtube a while back before they unfortunately got taken down and I really liked the music. So I’m as sure as heck watching this, no doubt!

Midnight: Pass – Can’t say i’m really into mecha girls fighting
Aplus: PASS – Never watched previous seasons
Shadow: I’m not sure what I was expecting jumping into the PV, BUT IT WASN’T THAT. I was caught off guard seeing mecha girls fighting. However, I’m not the biggest fan of a mostly girl cast in anime, but depending on how good the action and music are, I may have to give this one a try.

Oki: Mecha fighting magical anime girls? Why is this season made specifically for me and taunting me with 500 shows? I’ll give the first episode a shot.
Midnight: pass – lost me at Mecha

The anime will give a “bold interpretation” on historical figure Oda Nobunaga starting with his youth as an early teen. The series will follow him and his rivalry with his younger brother Nobuyuki.
TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: I keep on giving these Oda Nobunaga stories chances, but more often than not they tend to disappoint me. Also me: I will watch the first episode anyways.
Oki: PASS – Don’t wanna cover history.
Midnight: Pass – It’s not listed as a genre, but i can see historical in the summary and no. Not interested.
Aplus: Pass – Don’t like Oda Nobunaga historical anime for some reason
Shadow: The art looks super pretty, but I suppose we’ll see if the animation is good as the art style.I may give this one a look but I can’t help but feel like it’s all show and no substance.
Tsuyoku: I really like the character designs for this and I’m still not horribly jaded by Oda Nobunaga-themed shows, so I’ll be checking this one one to see if it’s any good.

Midnight: I loved season one of this show, but I never got around to watching season two. I should probably tack that onto my list of shows I need to get around too, but sadly, it won’t be in time to cover the third season.
Aplus: PASS – Not into the genre
Shadow: PASS – Why… Why is this series still around?! Is it my fault? Is it because I bought a couple of the cd’s??? And there’s even more guys that are added to the cast? I couldn’t even finish the first season because it was so lack luster. Stop this madness!
Tsuyoku: PASS – Not into the genre

TEAM IMPRESSION
Eva: PASS – It’s Horror, so I’m out!
Oki: Horror…demons…supernatural. . .dangit.
Midnight: Hi! Someone said horror, demons, and supernatural. I really dig the premise, the music in the P.V. was rocking and i’m just getting a lot of cool vibes from this series. Count me in.
Aplus: I’m with on this. Horror and demons, supernatural shit, slapping music. Very cool and I’m looking forward to watching this.
Shadow: PASS – I get VERY mixed vibes for this anime. I feel like the music doesn’t really match the supposed horror genre this series is going for. Like it’s trying for a Cowboy Bebop vibe. Not to mention the art style just doesn’t scream scary horror to me.
Tsuyoku: Just the poster for this calls my name? It looks cool, cool, cool. I’ll probably just watch it at my own pace, but I’m into it.
Quietcupcake: PASS – It looks really cool, but I’ve historically dropped most horror anime that I’ve started.

Overall Thoughts
Eva: Wow, isn’t this a summer drought. I am really surprised by how small the line up is this season, but there is certainly a few I have my eyes set on! Danmachi S2, is a show I had been hoping would get a second season for the longest time (I KNEW IT WOULD)! I am a huge fan of the novel series! Other titles of interest are Ensemble Stars!, Enen no Shouboutai and Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e.and Cop Craft, which looks super fun (as long as its not too gritty), along with Lord El-Melloi II-sei and Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki desu ka? and Given. That said, we’ll have to see how many shows in the summer I actually end up watching beyond three episodes, hopefully the ones I have listed won’t disappoint me.
Oki: I put my name down on a lot so it feels like I’m the odd one out here and found a lot to be interested in this season. Vinland Saga for one is a huge point of excitement for me, being a show I’ve known and read for a long time with a huge following amongst most of my friends. BEM looks very interesting to me, And I’m not going to lie to you- Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki desu ka? <- this mouthful of an anime looks like I will lose my mind and enjoy the hell out of my time. Dr. Stone looks interesting and I like the premise a lot, Naka No Hito Genome looks exciting, and I actually do want to see Cop Craft. Granbelm, BEM, and Kanata no Astra are shows I might enjoy but could fall flat for me, but there are so many shows I’m interested in watching it looks like a more full season for me than normal. So, I’m special I guess? Haha.
Midnight: Yikes, there is just not a ton to be excited about this season. I’m surprised on how much I passed on. That being said, when I first took a look at the season BEM stood out at the only title I was interested in. After a closer look, the one i’m honestly most excited for is ‘Naka no Hito Genome [Jikkyouchuu]‘ with some minor interest in a few of the other shows. I think that done correctly, ‘Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki desu ka?‘ has a lot of potential and i’ve heard a lot of great things about ‘Uchi no Ko no Tame Naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maou mo Taoseru Kamo Shirenai.‘ so i’m tentatively looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about.
Aplus: Ok, my overall thoughts are going to be very different because I’m a dumpster that just keeps making room for isekai. What were there? 4-5 isekai shows? And maybe 2 looked decent? Well, I’m going to at least check out all of them. Even someone like me has a limit on how bad a show can be before I drop it. That being said, I do have to admit that the overall swing of quality is definitely absent this season. I’m digging the upcoming sequels, particularly the Accelerator spinoff and DanMachi season 2. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sword Oratoria (the Ains Wallenstein spinoff) so I’m excited to get back into Bell and his life. I found a lot of shows interesting but decided to potentially blog: Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator, Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka?, and Uchi no Ko no Tame Naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maou mo Taoseru Kamo Shirenai. Accelerator I’ve just been looking forward to. I know the Index/Railgun franchise has been in a bit of a dip recently, but we’ll see. Kawaikereba, honestly is just a change of pace from what I usually cover. It’s kind of like an experiment for me. We’ll see how it goes. Uchi no Ko, I’m a sucker for father-daughter relationship building. I can see why some might think it’ll fall into the generic pack, but we’ll start off cautious and go as we see fit with that. A bunch of other shows caught my attention, but I’m already rambling so I’ll leave it at that.
Shadow: As soon as I looked at all the titles for this season I felt like it was going to be pretty slim pickings. Though I’m willing to give some the benefit of a doubt and see if I can find any diamonds in the rough. I think the title that jumped out to me the most at first was Ensemble Stars since I already heard pretty good things about the game. However, looking deeper into the list, I think I’m starting to feel a little more excited for titles such as Enen no Shouboutai and Lord El-Melloi II-sei no Jikenbo: “Rail Zeppelin” Grace note. Though I’m willing to see if Vinland Saga and Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo. are any good or catch my fancy. I’m also willing to sit through a couple other series to see if they’re actually good, but I won’t get my hopes up. I feel like the past few summer seasons have been pretty dry, so hopefully this summer can prove to be surprising.
Tsuyoku: I was shocked by the amount of shows I passed on due to them being of a genre I don’t care for or looking pretty generic or not interesting to me! I really hope it’s just a sort of weak season and not something on my part and current anime making me jaded. Either way, there were still some titles that caught my eye and that I’m looking forward to checking out. Dr. Stone is a given as a Jump title, of course. I’ll be watching Vinland Saga as well, BEM and Enen no Shouboutai for sure. Kanata no Astra, Try Knights and Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga are the ones I’m more excited about and pretty willing to cover, although with the necessary disclaimer of them holding up my interest long term.
Quietcupcake: test I think I’m with everyone else on this one, there wasn’t a whole lot to be excited for, but I’m hoping this will be a season of hidden gems! Perhaps there will be something standing out more than anything has before. Looking back on it, I think I’m most interested in Given and Try Knights probably because I just really enjoy series like those! I have a soft spot for series that focus on how characters grow based on the support that’s around them, so I have high hopes for those two. However, if Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo treats their characters well, I can definitely see it being the diamond in the rough people may be hoping for. Overall, I think this season will prove to be a fun time, but I don’t know how much of it will stick with us in the future.
If I may ask a question: So… About the Color-Coding thing… Will someone else be covering Vrains? Or is just an example? Just curious.
Rest assure, I’m still covering it! We had hoped the colors would help clarify who is covering what (by referencing to what colors our names are as seen here), but it seems I didn’t explain it well. I will revise it to make it more straight-forward.
I read Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou before and the first part sure is Psychological. It basically MC was left for dead by his jerk ass isekai classmate and have to survive in the dungeon alone while grow stronger to get out. It then devolve into harem antic once the 2nd girl show up and any trace of Psychological left the series. The MC became the most OP thing in that world( he created a railgun, a humvee and drones in a fantasy world). After that point i lost interest.
Arifureta isn’t psychological, it’s a straight up chuunibyou fantasy series. Author’s admitted he’s a massive fan of chuuni fiction, and Arifureta’s his love letter to the genre.
You should check out his afterwords; but you can’t deny he has plenty of shameless enthusiasm for what he likes.:

“I’m not the only chuuni out there. I’m sure…every human alive, has a bit of chuuni hidden somewhere inside them. So, to all of you chuuni lovers who have to hide away because of common sense, or your age, or how embarrassing it is, or how society sees you, if (Arifureta) has helped unleash your burning soul just a little… then I consider my work complete.”
Lots of shows that are hype but I can say for sure I’m really looking forward to Given, so excited ^^
First time visiter to your site and wow it’s nice to see such an active anime blog! I really like how everyone comments on each show instead of just one person.
I look forward to Vinland, Given and Enen. Shounen doesn’t excite me like it used to but Soul Eater has a special place in my heart as my first anime. Let’s see how Ohkubo has developed.
Also, not Japanese, but anybody going to watch Mo Dao Zu Shi? The first season was one of the best anime of 2018. Second season looks even better.
Welcome and thank you! <3 I haven’t watched Mo Dao Zu Shi, but I definitely heard and seen a lot of love for it on tumblr. The animation is beautiful! I’ve been meaning to check it out, but haven’t had the time to do so yet!
I’ve also been interested in checking out Mo Dao Zhu Shi, especially since I saw that the second season will be part of the summer season. I’ve never given Chinese anime a shot but with all the rave reviews Mo Dao Zu Shi got (and that animation!), I really want to check it out. 😀
Yay I highly recommend it! The learning curve can be a bit high -Chinese dub, Chinese fantasy tropes, first third has growing pains- but the payoff is killer. Engrossing, devastating family and war drama. Good to binge if the season ends up too dry 😉
Might be a little late to the party, but I wanted to share something here. Regarding Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, I recently found out that it was an adaptation of a manga written by Mari Okeda. Knowing that, I’ve decided to take a look at the manga and see if it strikes my fancy. I only know of her works from NagiAsu and Maquia, but I guess just hearing that she wrote the story made me want to look at it.
