There is little to talk about this week given how this episode had a lot of action scenes, beautiful ones at that. Today was the final episode of the Bishamon Arc, and starting next week we’re onto the next one- something you should all be looking forward to. As excited as I am, I would like to elaborate on what’s to come, but I know if I do, there won’t be much to talk about in the following episodes, along with potentially spoiling those who have not read the manga.
It may have come to surprise some how despite all the terrible things Kureha has done, Bishamon didn’t kill him. Instead, she accepted his mistakes, acknowledged how in his mind, he was doing the right thing because he himself didn’t blight her, and ultimately decided to revoke him of his name, the one thing he treasured the most. Of course with Kureha now as a stray left to wander about, it did irk Yato that she didn’t just cut him down- as he himself chopped off Kureha’s hand, disgusted at his actions of trying to persuade Bishamon into taking her own life to start anew. Some might consider her a hypocrite when we compare how she reacted to Yato killing off her clan, versus Kureha one of her own regalia doing the same. The only difference between the two is one is connected to her, while the other is not- but Kureha being one of her own only makes his (as we perceive it) crimes even worse. There was a lot of mentions of how because the regalia are human (or at least formerly so), they are allowed to make mistakes, where as the Gods simply do not make mistakes. This particular argument did plan a key role in her form of justice today, and Yato made sure to remind her what she was doing- something she failed to do long ago, cleansing and freeing those who have been consumed was her job and it was the right thing to do.
I was relieved to see Bishamon understood where she went wrong, and now understands she will have to learn how to not shoulder all the burden and pain on her own. I can’t remember if the exchange diary idea happened in the manga, but either way- it was a sweet scene to see her make the effort to change. She also had lifted the exile reinstated Kazuma, asking him to be her guide. (That’s right everyone, KAZUMA IS OKAY!)
Leading into the next arc is the ominous order Nora has received from “Father”, which is to bring Yato to them. I promise you this is one of the best arcs because this is specifically the one that really kicks the core storyline into action. So look forward to it!
