It is time for the Summer Festival, but I don’t think it was anything of the sort any of us had expected.
Last week I speculated perhaps something might be up with Yuuki seeing Flora, much to my relief, that wasn’t the case. Instead, (and I can’t say it was any better) revolved around Yuuki simply being an obnoxious brat.
Yes, he was being a brat. See, during practice Yuuki injured his elbow. Now, I would understand his frustration if the injury was actually jeopardizing his dream career as a Professional Tennis Player, but no, it was in fact not the case. The coach removed him from the first team (something which he had worked hard to get into) and told him the reason was so he can recover properly. But Yuuki was too blindsided by his greed to become a Pro ASAP and was taking a tantrum over missing one tournament. He was acting as if it meant the end of his career and gave shit to everyone who was looking out for him! So when Haruka as Cure Flora realized this, she immediately called him out on it. She not only scolded him, but also went on how embarrassing and lame his behavior was. I have to tell you, it was SO refreshing and cool to see this side of Haruka. We have always seen her as very supportive, but when individuals like Yuuki are acting like brats, I absolutely love how she doesn’t cut them any slack! YOU GO GIRL!
Other than that, nothing else really happened this week. I was disappointed (despite the fact it was expected) to see Yui was cast into the shadows again. I had my hopes go up when she finally had a good line in the first half, but then we never heard anything else from her for the rest of the episode. Here’s to hoping next week with their trip to the beach, Yui will be able to have more screen-time as she rightfully deserves. Now I get she isn’t apart of the main cast, but when you have a character like her who is supposed to be friends with the girls, I wish she wasn’t cut out so much. A good example to compare is Seiji from Happiness Charge! He wasn’t exactly a part of the main cast, because he did have a significant role, included in many of the hangouts, fights (directing civilians away from the scene, or making a contribution) as well as meetings. His relationship as Megumi’s childhood friend was never watered down, but I am sure at this stage, even he had both more screen time and lines than Yui. Of course Yui may or not ever play as big as a role as Seiji had as Megumi’s most cherished friend, but it certainly would feel like a wasted opportunity if Yui never gets to play a big part like he had (which most noticeably took place during the later half of the series). I am still holding out hope for Yui, but I would be lying if I said wasn’t becoming a bit more skeptical of her future role.
On the brighter note, at least things are somewhat looking up for Shut! He met his goal today! So yay~! 😀
Shut trying to meditate away his thoughts about Lock and Twilight was one of the best parts of the episode. Poor guy should stop denying his feelings and joining the precure, it would be really funny see him trying to fit in the group.
Yuuki has improved a tiny bit but he is still a brat. And he totally should have learnt Cure Flora’s identity, I hope he’ll learn it in the future. With Haruka telling him “lol, I’m not just a princess, but a badass princess, in your face!”. I know it’s ooc but I need to see him humbled and apologizing for his past bullying.
Yui is still a victim of lack of screentime, at least next episode is about her and Towa. And the Zetsuborg is related to art and books so I hope some subplot about her dream.
Yeah, Shut is still trapped in that situation, I still pity him, but at least in this episode he felt he did something as a villain in the series (gathering more despair to fill the gauge this time thanks to his three victims).
I would like to see Yuuki’s face if he really finds out Cure Flora’s true identity (though I thought he would in this very episode, but I got it wrong)! And I hope he apologizes of what he did to Haruka in the past too, Ayal92, that would nice. 🙂
And now that you mention it (about the Zetsuborg related to art and books) I do hope so too for Yui’s new plot in the next episode! 😀
Looks like you take hiatus on posting link in Live Journal. Sorry, but you didn’t need to force yourself if you want to take hiatus. I just want to ask if you’ll continue after your hiatus. After all, I recognize you as the good precure reviewer and that would be a shame if Live Journal community didn’t know your review. Hence the reason I asked you to post the link back in April. Well, even kokoda said that your review is good since you also express your opinion. For your info kokoda is one of the expert in term of Precure review at livejournal.
Anyway, this sure is interesting. Just because I didn’t comment lately that mean I didn’t follow this series, okay? Well, I think from the fact the one who scolded Yuuki is the Haruka, who’s her dream is looked down by himself is laughable and quite lame lol. But I think you’ll more Haruka Kanata faction, right eva?(Didn’t mean to started shipping war, but I knew there was someone who ship Haruka and Yuuki outside.) Anyway, the main question is, will Yuuki know that Flora is Haruka or not? Damn, this sure is interesting.
I still don’t know what Toei plan with Yui yet. But I think they planned something for her or not. Well let’s see it later. About next week, I think Yui is …….. Just look back at episode 27 HaCha and episode 1 of this series since I didn’t have guts to type it, but I think it’s more fitting for Scarlet though. After all the episode is supposed to be Towa and Yui bond(Or maybe not?)
I was suffering from Vertigo for the past two weeks so I had to take it easy, and then on Monday I couldn’t turn on my computer, and learned my hard-drive and screen is busted so it is in repair. I have been using my family’s laptop but I only have limited time on it, so I couldn’t post. Once I get my computer back I will resume posting at the community. 🙂
I think so too.
Yuuki proved to be still a brat and dull, I hope he learns and changes after being scolded by Cure Flora. Glad to see Haruka’s strong sense and dare to teach Yuuki a lesson like a “new Haruka”.
As for Nanase Yui, I’m also willing that she appears more often like Seiji did in Happiness Charge too, she sure deserves it! Yet, I hope she helps Towa a lot and appears more on screen in the next episode! can’t wait to watch it! Furthermore, I’m eager to learn what is really bothering Towa. My guess is something to do with water (though her element is fire (Flareon) and fire is weak against water type moves (Vaporeon)! Hehehehehhe… XD
Overall, this episode surprised me and is a good one too. 🙂
I think though at least Yui-Yui, again so far, was the most active supporting character in GPPC, there are two things that triggered the lacking screentime of hers based on my own logical perception: First the lines on an episode’s script (dang it, these’re already implied to any anime show!) which include at least one, two or almost more speaking lines for a certain anime character and second the seiyuu’s damned hectic schedule (probably has a part-time job or some other commitments), in the case of Haruka Yoshimura, although I totally in love on her cute voice so far as our current Cure helper as well as being way too different compare to Ryousuke Kanemoto (Seiji’s seiyuu).
Snap that Yuuki-kun didn’t changed his ol’ attitude! >_< I think he was so careless about his injury much that made his fangirls worry, so as Haru-Haru and the co. On the brighter side, I was surprised all over again that Shirogane-san pops out of nowhere and she's also actually made that Puff doll (aw, look at Kisaragi's reaction! :3). Meanwhile, Shut couldn't control all of his craziness on Towachi, especially the elf ears. Then, Yuuki-kun gets the throw at least on one of the Zetsuborgs despite the injury (he should do the damn Cure helper role instead of Yui-Yui… Oops, just kidding! XD). But I guess that it's not the right time for him to learn Flora's identity unless Yuuki-kun would be able to do so during the season finale arc.
Speaking of our artsy Yui-Yui, I was already aware about her situation as a Cure helper on a reference post in PCLJ over the weekend and that was according to director Yuta Tanaka!
"Reading the script"
"The situation of Yui Nanase who doesn't transform"
Yui's role, after having come to know the Cures' secret and helping them, is that of a "mood maker"*. She can't become a Pretty Cure, however, as she helped Flora and the others summon the Rods in episode 11 by joining in the hand-holding, she is sometimes depicted as an existence on par with the Cures.
Tanaka: "She stands within the frame of the fairies who cheer on the Cures (smiles bitterly). However she has a special role that she will maintain till the last episode. Please don't miss her very important line(s) in episode 28."
By the way her hilarious depiction in episode 3 without the glasses on was director Tanaka's request.
Tanaka: "I mean, like when you remove your glasses, your eyes totally go 33 (the reverse E thingy), don't they?"
Now I was thinking if what Yui-Yui would say to Towachi (and the other Princess Cures) in an honest manner, my hyper e-train is still standing despite the attempted "wreck," so I still have enough faith on her. And oh my God, the gals in hot swimsuits! Now that's what I called a test of conscience and the "how to retained le general enjoyment thing" for the franchise under Yu Kaminoki. And oh, there's a part where the Princess Cures will get a power-up very soon (don't mind the "date" thing)!
"It doesn't have to do with the date, but this month Haruka and the others will find themselves in quite the predicament. It looks like her positive attitude even when being at a disadvantage will give everyone courage. Look forward to Haruka and the others joining their 5, including Yui's, powers, to get a power-up!"
