As each week goes by, we’re starting to see Asa’s composure cracking more, revealing the messy feelings of loss and confusion she’s been bottling up all this time.

A visit from their attorney came about to inquire about a lum sum purchase since Makio wasn’t picking up the call (didn’t help she didn’t have his number in contacts, so it was an unknown number). This meeting forced Asa to come clean about her feelings and uncertainty in order to explain that she was the one who made the purchase without consulting anyone.

Despite the fact Makio had given her permission to join the band (and even recommended she do so). She’s still adjusting and feeling self-conscious over how adults would perceive her choices, and thought she’d say no. But really in that moment, it seems as though Asa’s confusion comes from the fact her mother’s habit of often contradicting what she previously promised or said to her. That’s why she took it upon herself to secretly buy a mac in hopes she could just make music on her own instead of at school.

While Asa’s relationship with her mother was good when she was a kid, around the past year that Asa’s relationship with her mother had changed for the worse. Since she was young, Asa had a habit of relying on her mother to make decisions for her. But when her mother tells her she needs to start making her own choices, and promises she’ll support her in any decisions she makes and Asa does just that… Instead of praising her for it, she ridicules her choices. Such as when she decided to get her hair cut short. Asa thought it was cute and suited her, but her mother turns around and tells her she looks like a boy. That’s why Asa calling out her mother her being a liar, contradicting everything she’s been saying. The sad part is that she never got the chance to convince her otherwise because she died before she could.

Poor Makio found herself terribly overwhelmed when pressed by the attorney Tono, who got a bit heated because she hadn’t answered his calls. He was worried he was dealing with the shameless type, but quickly came to realize that he was coming too strong, to the point she had to tell him he was overwhelming her with information and it was scaring her. We can tell he’s not a bad guy, but he unfortunately unintentionally hits the sore spots because he can’t seem to get his words right.

That said, it was funny for Shingo to see them shaking hands, because you can tell he was internally thinking: Hold up, who’s this guy? Also god damn it, I freaking love Shingo’s character so much. He doesn’t even hesitate to offer covering the costs in to help support Makio after Asa had secretly bought one from her parent’s funds in hopes to make music with it. But they turned down to the offers, so they’ll be returning the computer instead.

This week we’ve also come to learn Asa had actually witnessed her parent’s accident. She was just in the store buying stuff, and the next thing she knows, their car gets crushed by a truck behind them. Talk about a freaking trauma she has yet to really process and work though. It’s in part why she’s been furiously writing and scratching out all the bitter thoughts of feeling like it was her mother’s own fault for dying like that.

As for the visit to Grandma’s, it was brief but was a bittersweet one. It’s crazy that Makio hasn’t been back home in five years, and coming back for the first time brought back a flood of memories of her childhood, of both the good and the bad. There was a time when her and her sister got along fine, when they were at their youngest. But as soon as the two of them entered middle school and high school, you can tell that’s where the rift between them started to form. Sadly, their relationship transformed into something something entirely irreparable.

Fortunately it appears their mother doesn’t hold it against Makio for resenting Minori and being unable to share that grief. She has shown to be very understanding and respecting the fact it’s difficult and draining for Makio to partake in conversations. That’s why, despite Makio offering to step into the role that her sister had left vacant of lending an ear when she needs it, their mother insisted she’d be fine. She doesn’t want to burden Makio with her own troubles when she’s already consumed by her own. Instead, she just wants her and Asa to live healthily.

Last but not least, [SMACKS DESK WITH FIST] AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THAT ENDING WAS SO WHOLESOME!!!!! It’S ILLEGAL. I know Makio and Shingo have already broken up but FUCK MAN THEY ARE SO FUCKING CUTE. I CAN’T. DON’T TOY WITH MY HEART LIKE THIS. I MUST TEMPTER MY OWN EXPECTATIONS. AHHHHHHHHHH! [CRIES] At the very least they are true besties to be that comfortable with each other even after their breakup. Why must they look like a picture perfect family right now?! I’m going insane!
