I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Santas vs Bundus… BUT NEVER IN MY LIFE WOULD I EXPECT THEIR FIGHT TO JUST BE HIJACKED BY A FREAKING CAR. I can’t even decide if I’m disappointed or not because Bundus’ abilities looked really cool and would have loved to see him fight. But with two extremely serious fights prior, I feel like they wanted to shake up the formula and not have it feel repetitive. The whole thing felt super dumb but also hilarious. I feel like if they had already started fighting and it was super serious, I would have felt more annoyed. But I think because the encounter had started off as silly with Bundas’ weird questions, the fact that their fight didn’t turn too serious seems like it was keeping in line with their interactions. Especially since Bundus just felt like the silly uncle lol.
Also can we just take a moment to admire how well the CG hands actually blended really well into the 2D space? The fact that they almost look 2D themselves I think it is a fantastic feat. Especially with how bad CG in anime can look.
But oh my gosh, the freaking loony tunes sound effects that went off through out this scene made me snort. While this scene didn’t make me cackle, it did make me wheeze a little. Despite this being a really silly turn of events, I think it goes to show that while Bundus is on the opposing side, he really isn’t that bad of a guy. Well… as far as we can tell lol. The fact that he saved Dear and also just immediately cooperated with them once they got into the car shows that he’s not as hostile compared to the other raiders… well I guess other than Fu. But yeah, that whole scene just took me out lol.
Speaking of Fu, while the dude may seem pathetic, the fact that Bundus questioned how he hasn’t finished his fight insinuates that he actually is really strong. But his weakness being that he NEEDS to get attacked first and of course Enjin isn’t about to engage knowing that. Safest strategy is to just not fight back in this case. For a hot second, I did think that Dear was about to jump on him when he got out of the car lol. I do wonder what he actually does though that requires him to get hit first or at the very least why he can’t start fights himself. I was hoping we’d see him in action, but that might be for another day like Bundus. To which, it’s hilarious how super un-serious these two raiders are comparatively to the Jabber fight and the comb lady whose name I do not remember lol. Poor Zanka really did get the short end of the stick here…
A lot of questions are revolving around this giant trash beast. Especially when communications suddenly are back despite it not working a second ago. What changed? What allowed it to go through? A little suspicious of the look Bundus gave Enjin, though I’m not sure what it meant. But whatever the case was, the other Cleaners are on their way and you know it’s serious when everyone in the car looks like they’re about to shed some blood. With Gris looking the most pissed out of all of them considering he wasn’t able to help them despite him being right there.
I. AM. SO. PROUD. OF. RUDO. I’ve LITERALLY been saying that despite the Cleaners’ and Rudo’s missions aren’t the same, they have given him something he desperately needed: A tribe of his own. He only had Regto back in the Sphere as everyone else turned their backs on or rejected him. And I am SO GLAD that they finally acknowledged it, by Rudo no less. I feel like I was a bit wrong with stating that Rudo and Zodyl were different sides of the same coin. It seems while they have the same goal to destroy the Sphere, they are on completely opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of their values. As soon as Zodyl started spouting his usual crap about throwing aside waste and things that ultimately do not hold value to their goals, it was over. Especially since we know that Rudo is NOTORIOUS for finding value in the things that people have thrown away and finds issues with throwing things away. That is literally the core of Rudo’s character and I’m so happy that he was able to see the value of the bonds he made with the Cleaners. Their ultimate goal might differ from his, but they were the first group of people to accept and protect him. And that is just so incredibly heartwarming and I love it. It makes me wonder how Rudo will continue with his revenge now that he seems to have added another condition to his goals.
Also can we just bring attention to the fact that when Rudo was thinking back to his time with the Cleaners, he specifically thought of Zanka when he was being friendly to him. Despite their rocky relationship, it’s interesting that Rudo refers to him in that moment. It’s such a minute detail, but I will take any Rudo/Zanka friendship moment I can. BECAUSE THEY CAN BE GREAT FRIENDS IF THEY TRIED AGAIN DANG IT.
It’s also really interesting how triggered Zodyl got after being rejected by Rudo using his friendship speech. We don’t really know anything about his past, so SOMETHING must have happened to have made Zodyl renounce bonds with others holding value. But I absolutely LOVED how immediately after Zodyl questions where Rudo’s team was, Enjin just busts through in the most epic fashion. While I wouldn’t consider Enjin as one of my favorites, I definitely appreciate him. He cares a lot about Rudo and seems to actually be trying personally to try and help Rudo get back to the Sphere. He’s such an older brother to him and it’s great. Typically, I generally don’t care that much about characters like Enjin, but the way he’s written makes me appreciate him a lot. He has his annoying moments, but I think him actually trying to help and understand Rudo more adds layers to him. While he acts very nonchalant, he tries to help nudge others in the right direction. He does still have his faults, especially with how he handled the situation with Amo, but I can respect that he is trying to better himself by realizing his weaknesses.
I’m so curious to see how Enjin fares against Zodyl. We don’t know what Zodyl is capable of, but we also haven’t seen the full extent of what Enjin is capable of as well. So it’ll definitely be an exciting fight for sure. Also I’m still waiting to see what kaiju girl is going to do… she keeps disappointing me despite me rooting for her for several episodes now…
