THIS SERIES NEEDS TO STOP. I cannot handle it not giving us a definite answer of when the episode ends. One or two cliffhangers I can handle, but when it’s THREE IN A ROW. THIS NEEDS TO STOP. Anyways, aside from the dramatics, I actually did enjoy this episode. As expected, Jabber’s plan of attacking Rudo through pure instinct without triggering Gris’ talisman ends up working and nearly overwhelms Rudo. While Rudo can defend himself pretty well against threats, he doesn’t have a lot of combat experience. Especially against those who are conditioned fighters like Jabber. We’ve only seen him really hold his own against people without special abilities and mindless trash monsters. So it makes sense that he wouldn’t be able to handle Jabber on his own.
When things were getting overwhelming I verbally went: Zanka help! ZANKA! Only for Zanka to pull through and I just sighed in relief. Despite the two currently having a rocky relationship, I do appreciate that Zanka knows he has a responsibility to help and protect Rudo. To which probably just stems from his loyalty to the Cleaners as a whole, but I’d like to think that he also takes his responsibilities seriously since he’s technically Rudo’s teacher. I’m honestly really glad that Zanka came through to help since I didn’t want this to be like too many animes where the main character finds the strength to tank all threats on his own without assistance. glances over at Fire Force So thankfully this ended up being a team-up situation in the end. Though it was pretty hilarious that they made it work by having Zanka constantly try to hit Rudo with malicious intent. The fact the dude actually wanted to hit Rudo with the intent to harm is both hilarious and a little concerning lol. Despite that, it shows that the two can work together pretty well and their little team-up episode made me really want them to get along as friends. Because they totally can if they put their egos aside and Rudo is able to be less socially awkward. It’ll take time, but I do hope they can actually be friends. I’m even warming up to the guy, despite his very rude disposition.
I really like how depending on what object he uses, Rudo can utilize in so many different ways depending on his perception and imagination of said object. And because the same object cannot be used twice, that means there is a lot of potential of what he is capable of and one battle that he’ll be a part of will be the same. I’m excited to see what other items he ends up using in the future and how those battles pan out.
Unfortunately, being the annoying character that he is, this isn’t enough to defeat Jabber for good. Even with the great teamwork that Zanka and Rudo had, they were ill prepared to deal with a psycho like Jabber. Especially when Jabber ended up poisoning Rudo so he couldn’t move after they thought it was over. I legit was worried that Jabber actually won and would make off with Rudo in his custody. Initially I was so confused why he jumped outside and was confused why he wasn’t still in the building. Only for it to show Riyo and I was like: DID SHE CUT THE BUILDING IN HALF??? The idea of Riyo just cutting all these random buildings in half searching for them tickles me. That’s a lot of damage lol. Granted, this seems like an abandoned city, but still. I was hoping Enjin would come to the rescue and put a stop to this kidnapping and thankfully that hope came to fruition. He even brought some backup. Sadly I wasn’t treated to a Jabber beat down since he was forced to retreat by this other girl who seems to be a part of the same organization he’s a part of. Again, this series loves feeding us more things to question but hardly ever gives us any answers. Though one of the bigger questions is what did he mean by “series?” To which, I feel like that might lead us to why Regto got murdered eventually.
But man… the whole situation with Gris is so freaking terrible. In an emotional way. First, Rudo feels absolutely terrible that his ability ended up destroying the talisman in the end. Especially since he can relate to caring for an object. So the fact that he was the one to break it, you can tell it was eating him up inside. And then we have the scene where after Gris is relieved and happy that his talisman was of use to help Rudo while the remaining bit of it ended up dissolving away. THIS SERIES WON’T EVEN GIVE ME THE SATISFACTION OF TRULY KNOWING IF GRIS IS GOING TO MAKE IT OR NOT???? I legit was so upset when the episode ended without giving a concrete answer on whether or not Gris was going to make it. But how the scene was portrayed with seemingly final words and the final bits of his talisman turning to dust in the wind, I feel like it’s hinting that Gris didn’t make it. Which makes me even MORE upset because ” this is the one thing we didn’t want to happen” and will inevitably make me hate Jabber even more. And here a I thought it was way too early for another big death to happen… SORRY I WAS SO NAIVE. I just feel so bad for Rudo as he is NOT going to take this well. And it hurts even more how Gris was like one of the first people to extend a friendly hand to him too. Why do they keep making Satoshi Hino characters die too soon?! If Gris does end up dying, it’s not just Rudo who is going to lose it. Gris seemed well loved by the others in the Cleaners and all of them had a good amount of respect and trust in him. So I’m sure the Cleaners are not going to take this well and sitting down.
