After the insanity that we witnessed last episode, this one definitely was more of a build up for what is to come. I am legit shocked (once again) that Subaru didn’t die. Not to mention that the situation felt like maybe it’d be better to die and restart. But after the talk about not throwing his life away so easily in the second season, I can understand why the series wouldn’t want him to purposefully die so often like he used to. At this point, where would his reset point even be? I feel like it’s inevitable but this season definitely has me on the edge of my seat for when it happens.
Not entirely sure what is going on with Subaru as the dragon blood that Capella gave him isn’t turning him into a complete monster that we all expected. Though the new leg he sprouted is GNARLY. As soon as he uncovered it I was immediately ICKED after seeing it shriveled looking and pulsating. gags And despite how gross it looks, it apparently has a strong healing factor. Though it seems like Subaru somehow got the better end of the deal as it doesn’t seem to be hindering him (even growing back his shoe lol) as much compared to Crusch as the blood completely incapacitated her. Definitely is a wonder if his leg is going to stay that way for the rest of the series or they’ll find a way to heal it.
Priscilla definitely has been piquing my interest lately and I’m glad that we do seem to be getting more sides of her than her being a sadist with “the world revolves around me” mindset. While she is still needlessly aggressive, it does seem that she has a softer side when it comes to innocent people and those who have gained her respect. From what I could gather after going back to season 1, she seemingly is quick to violence if provoked or if she sees disrespect. Though that doesn’t clear her of her racist comments towards Emilia in season 1 and bringing Reinhard’s dad to rile things up. Out of the five candidates, it does feel like we know her the least so I am looking forward to seeing more of her better traits. Especially since she acted quite gracefully after Liliana rejected her offer to be her personal musician in an earlier episode this season. And man, her fighting capabilities are amazing and I do really want to see her go up against another archbishop just to see more of her capabilities and how they match up against a more powerful opponent.
I feel like I’m still not fully understanding how the Authority of Wrath works, but I am slowly starting to piece it together I think. Initially, I wasn’t sure what connected controlling people to the sin of wrath. However, I think this episode helped me understand that it’s not just mind control, but takes people’s strong emotions and intensifies them, which relates to wrath in a way. Where anger/frustration evolves into a stronger emotion that leads people to take action against someone. To which, Sirius takes the strong emotions from others and forces them to act a certain way that ultimately leads to pain and death. I still feel like I’m missing parts of the puzzle to how exactly her power works and how it all links back to the sin of wrath, but I’m sure they’ll go more into depth about it later.
I feel like with every episode that goes by in this season, the more I just am NOPE towards Regulus. The guy is absolute garbage and it’s really hard to watch how he treats all of his “wives.” Who honestly act more like slaves than wives at this point as he orders them to do everything and all with a stoic expression. It’s honestly sad at how he’s essentially stripped all of these women of their free will and dignity. Where they don’t even flinch when Regulus decides to kill them and carry on to clean up after him. It almost feels like brainwashing and the urgency to get Emilia away from this guy is burning stronger than ever. Especially since Capella basically announced the wedding to the entire city. I’m definitely glad that Emilia is actually taking the initiative to sneak away instead of waiting for someone to save her. She’s just so calm about the whole thing and initially I thought she was being too passive. But considering how unreasonable Regulus can be when upset, it probably was better for Emilia not to provoke a negative reaction from him. Especially since we know how firm and no nonsense Emilia can be on certain things. She could probably tell how unpredictable Regulus can be and most likely wanted to keep him in a positive mood while trying to figure out what to do. So when she snuck back into his office I was internally yelling for her to LEAVE. Gurl get out of there!
While I commend Subaru for remaining positive in this terrible situation, I do feel like all the things he listed off accomplishing feels a little too good to be true. While I do hope he is able to do the things he’s setting out to do, I know Rezero often gets way worse before it gets better. Though there have already been a lot of casualties with them having to kill a lot of innocent people who have been turned into monsters. Not to mention that there are several characters who have been put out of commission for the time being. HOPEFULLY they are able to come back since I feel like they’ve done Crusch so dirty for the past couple seasons. And we also need Beatrice back in action as soon as possible since she’s literally one of Subaru’s greatest allies and strength.
For Emilia I think you missed what she said at the beginning of the episode. She asked “If I were to run away Pristella would be flooded ?” and 184(his wife) says yes, so unless Emilia wants to kill everyone in Pristella she literally can’t escape. Moreover if she does run away 184 could pay the price for it and Emilia doesn’t want to risk that.
Ah I did forget about that part. Then yeah, her hands are literally tied right now as she definitely wouldn’t want to sacrifice so many people just so she could get out of a wedding.
