AHAHAHAHA Oh my god, of course rain is cold! I don’t know why I didn’t consider that last week, but I’m cracking up!!!! Now there’s really no going out anymore without carrying a trusty kettle to ensure he can turn back on the fly! Or at least it’s best to know where quickly get a new one!
Well, now we know why Akane doesn’t like guys. Every single day she goes to school, all the boys want to challenge her after Tatewaki Kuno set conditional rule (which she never agreed to) that if they beat her at a duel, they can confess and ask her out. Akane of course is 100% done with this shit, and naturally she needs to put an end to this by constantly beating them as part of her morning routine to school. Truly, how exhausting, I know I would be too, it’s a given why she’s done with boys her age.
Ranma may end up helping alleviate some of the interests away from her, unintentionally of course. After he got doused by the rain and fell into the pool (after he blindly threw himself into it, what an idiot), Kuno ended up seeing his female form and immediately fell in love. The episode ended with Kuno sending Ranma a challenging letter, only to turn out being a full blown confession with handing him roses instead of whacking him with his sword. Poor Ranma, that totally hurt his pride.
Akane has proven to be very helpful when Ranma ends up in a pinch with her quick thinking of preparing the hot water necessary to turn him back to his original gender. At the very least, they now have something to share with each other, the common thread of frustration for drawing unwanted attention from people who want to date them. We’ll have to see how quickly F!Ranma becomes beyond Kuno, if at all.
Unfortunately the plans to act like strangers with each other was immediately cast out the window the moment Ranma had told Kuno that he and Akane are living under the same roof. The only thing he didn’t mention was the engagement, mainly because he was trying to drive the point home that he doesn’t like her. But that was futile since it only went out in one year and out the other.
And so much for keeping their engagement under wraps! They have Nibiki to blame for that one since she didn’t think it’d be better to keep her mouth shut about it. She was the one who ended up telling Kuno, which stirred up this whole kerfuffle even more so after the initial duel that took place when they first arrived at school. The guy wasn’t going to wait till recess to challenge him after he was sent into the hall for being too noisy. So now the entire school knows about their arrangements.
Finally, we also learned that Akane seems to have a crush on Dr. Tofu, who has taken care of her injuries since she was little. Ranma is super wary of the guy though, as he managed to creep up from behind unnoticed by him. That does go to show the guy is pretty skilled considering Ranama and Akane certainly have more sense of their surroundings than most people.
Overall entertaining episode, but I’m still on the fence whether I’ll commit to covering this one or not. I’m going to give it another week to see if I want to continue. Perhaps it may come down to just covering this biweekly from time to time if I feel my entries are a bit too short!
