Episode 7
Sora finally enrolls into school, and as expected… it’s impossible for her to keep her mouth shut about Skyland!
It was rather hilarious that she has just figured out that she has a terrible habit of being honest to a fault, but when you think about it– it makes perfect sense. Up until now, Sora has been solely dedicating her time into her hero training, so she hasn’t actually had the opportunity to really interact with others and learn a bit about herself in the process. Of course she was very troubled by this, because it was really important for her to fit in so that she could make friends. But every time she attempted to be an ‘average girl’ like her peers, her hero instincts and training immediately rendered her efforts useless, and instead she became the kid who absolutely smashed the school’s athletics records, on her first day no less! At that point she realized her efforts to be someone she’s not was futile and with Mashiro’s encourage, she was able to set her story straight.

Episode 8
Oh my gosh, so last week when I saw the preview, this was my reaction: OH MY GOD, IS HE A FREAKING BIRD?!?!?! IS HE THE ORANGE BIRD? I MEAN, I KID YOU NOT, WHEN BERRY AND I WERE DISCUSSING THE CHARACTER DESIGNS BEFORE THE SHOW LAUNCHED I TOLD HER: “HEY LOOK HE GOT THAT DUCKTAIL BANG LIKE AHIRU (Princess Tutu)!!!!” AND I CAN’T BELIEVE I DIDN’T NOTICE THE FREAKING BIRD HOUSE IN THE BACKGROUND SOONER— NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! WHEN I SAW THERE WAS ONLY 3 MINUTES LEFT OF THE EPISODE I WAS LIKE SHIT SHIT SHIT IT’S A CLIFFHANGER THIS WEEK! Oh man this episode was so good, I just– it made me feel so giddy! I’m super excited for next week’s episode, it can’t come soon enough! I absolutely love how the team is already coming together with Ageha already calling in from the city about the way Kabaton is wrecking havoc to lure out the girls so he can find the princess. It makes me wonder if we actually might see both Tsubasa and Ageha get their powers next week. That would be pretty wild, but I definitely would like to see the episode be wholly dedicated to Tsubasa because he’s going to be the first boy to officially become a Precure! We’ve had some other fairies and boys have similar roles of powers, the most recent ones would be Takumi (Delicious Party, except for the fact they royally screwed him over), and Pikario from Kirakira La Mode. I’m not 100% sure if I’m forgetting any one else, I might be, so give them a shout out if didn’t mention them. Either way, I AM SO READY FOR IT! FLY BOY FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides the fact I’m super excited for it, I absolutely loved the backstory and the lore of the Puni Bird Tribe. It’s said that in exchange for the power to transform into a Human, they traded their ability to fly. It’s certainly an interesting concept that we see soon challenged by the fact that Tsubasa’s father had somehow defied that, and been able to fly and successfully save Tsubasa after a strong gust of wind blew him off their ride. If anything, it could have been his sheer determination to save his son defied that power exchange, or perhaps it is in fact a myth in itself, and it just requires them to have to read the wind differently to their fellow birds– or something, I don’t know hahaha. Heck, even the bird who had been giving them a ride was shook to see him just nonchalantly flying.
And ever since, Tsubasa too wanted to learn how to fly, and prove it to everyone who thought he was lying and made fun of him for it when he tried to tell the others about his father’s unthinkable flight. So on one stormy day, he decided to go out and hope the strong winds would help him do just that, but instead he found himself cast into another world, when a rift formed between. (This is something Yoyo explained to be a common occurrence during storms. That’s how come materials from Skyland find their way into this city. And I must say I like this touch of world-building to bring the two more organically intertwined like this).
The reason why Tsubasa never sought to go back to Skyland was because after Yoyo took him into her care, he learned about planes and became engrossed in studying about the aerodynamics. He wants to see if he could learn how to fly, be it with the science of the modern world, or with the knowledge he gains to read the wind better in order to enable him and others from his tribe to fly once more.
If it wasn’t obvious already, I freaking ADORE Tsukasa, HE’S SO FREAKING CUTE! AHHHHHHH! PROTECT THIS BIRD BOY, HE IS SO PRECIOUS! I was actually so annoyed at Sora with the way she snapped at him in the beginning– like I get it, she’s worried about Ellee and all, but GIRL PLEASE. HE WAS LIVING HERE BEFORE YOU EVEN SHOWED UP!!!!! Her attitude towards him was really uncalled for, though let’s be real here: Yoyo really should have properly introduced them from the start. (Though my god, I absolutely lost it when she actually barked at him with, “RUFF”, I couldn’t stop laughing at that bit!) Ahem, anyways, fortunately Tsubasa was able to win over her trust after Ellee indirectly helped him out by giving him the opportunity to show he cares about her and won’t kidnap her. It also helped that he mustered up the courage to share his dream with Sora, because that played an even bigger role of effectively winning her over because she thinks he is super cool to dream to fly. The two pretty much bonded over that to the point Mashiro had to wonder, how the heck did they become so close while she was gone!
And now with Kabaton attacking the city and Ellee already in her rebellious phase of summoning her freaking flying crib/boat flying saucer thingy, (whatever we’re supposed to call it), to follow after the girls, someone definitely needs to go after the baby. And sure enough with Ellee having been passed into his arms earlier, it’s Tsubasa’s turn to do just that!
Now that I actually finally noticed this is actually the eighth episode, which pretty much lines up pretty closely to the usual first mini boss fight. It might not be this particular fight, but I am wondering if we’ll soon get a glimpse of the big bad, or we’re going to see whatever last resort Kabaton will resort to, most likely in the upcoming episodes following after next week’s.
And with that said: IS IT NEXT WEEK YET?
ALSO: [SCREAMING] YOU ALL SAW THE NEWS RIGHT?!?!?!?

COMING THIS FALL!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
HOLY SHIT. I NEED TO REWATCH YES PRECURE! GROWN UP NOZOMIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!A HHHHHHHHHHHHKASDJLKASJDAS!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED LKJASDLKAJSDASD!!!
Hirogaru Sky just killin’ it with the milestones. First main cure that isn’t pink, first boy cure, what’s next? First cure over the age of 13? …OH WAIT.
Well technically we already have had some precures who were at least 17. Yuri (Heartcatch) and Yukari (Kirakira la mode) comes to mind haha. But it’s certainly a first who isn’t in high school that’s for sure! XD
Now I feel bad for Prism. Everyone else has these milestones attached to them and she’s just “another one.”
Prism is the first mixed-race cure who has family from another world
Tsubasa is best bird.
