This week we learn that Saint Slippery’s Academy for Girls, The Young Ladies of the Humiliation Club: Debauched Miracle Life 2 (aka: Slippery Girls 2) is a super popular eroge (if that wasn’t obvious already), and the character Marin wants to cosplay is Kuroe Shizuku. Wakana’s brain broke down hearing the plotline because not only he has never even heard of eroge before, but to think these types of games and their very dodgy tropes– one that even he was like it’s ‘Fine?’ “Safe?!” WHAT?! An understandably justified reaction. He was so bewildered by it, he even thought for a second she might be messing with him until he realized just by looking at how seriously she was explaining it in detail that she was not doing that. Considering this is all brand new stuff to him, he doesn’t really get it, but apart from what kind of game this is, at the very least he can see she genuinely adores Kuroe Shizuku and doesn’t judge her for it.
And when Marin mentions it doesn’t really matter whether they are a boy or girl to really like something, that really touched Wakana’s heart and he became even more motivated to help her out– until he realized he would be the one to be taking measurements for the cosplay. And boy, Wakana was not mentally prepared for this at all.
The plan was to wait till Monday, but Marin was too excited to wait till then so she hunted his house down to visit him on the weekend. Honestly it was just better they did this at his place then because I don’t think Wakana would have been able to mentally get through it if they were to do the measurements at school. He was flustered enough as it is. Marin on the other-hand, wasn’t particularly concerned whatsoever with the process. She cleverly decided it would be better to be dressed in a bathing suit instead of her underwear to make it less awkward and embarrassing for both of them. But even so, for Wakana, all of this is completely new to him, a first having someone over in god knows how long and now he is being asked to take measurements of a girl, his anxiety is off the charts.
And frankly in Wakana’s defense, Marin could have easily asked someone else to do her measurements, such as a friend. After-all, it didn’t necessarily have to be him, but Marin decided to go along with that anyways (for reasons of course). Since she wasn’t self-conscious about the process– at least not until the very end for the inseam measurement, she was being rather pushy when Wakana was clearly flustered to the point he was uncomfortable with the idea of taking her measurements. But honestly, I would say her attitude was probably for the best just because if they were both to be flustered at the same time, then it would just make things a million times more awkward. Marin’s focus on her getting her measurements taken efficiently in the end did help Wakana realize he just needs to calm down and focus on the task at hand. Ironically, when Marin finally became self-conscious of him, it was Wakana’s turn to be completely oblivious as to why.
But we also saw how Wakana has a habit of being overly-conscious about things, such as her sitting on his futon. In this particular case he certainly made it a bigger deal than he needed to it would be faster just to take the foot measurements right away so she’d get off it sooner.
With the measurements completed, now comes down to studying the reference materials to create the outfit’s pattern. Marin decided to give him both copies of the game for him so that he could better understand what’s going on. And you would think maybe he would have a hard time with how explicit it is since it’s an age-restricted game, but nope, Wakana is handling it with stride as he is 100% work-mode, watching everything so seriously to the point he is earnestly taking notes. I died laughing when his grandpa came in and was so confused as to why he looked that way while playing such a game! HAHAHA!
Next week should be the pattern reveal and picking up the materials to bring Kuroe Shizuku to life! I’m looking forward to it because once again I was ready for more! Until then, see you next time!
Of course it’s reasons for Wakana to need to measure Marin personally…how else would the mangaka and the publishers ensure their readers come back to read/purchase more Dress-up Darling… 😛
Btw, in other news it seems Bottom Tier Tomozaki will be getting a new anime.
