AKKUNNN!! Thanks for coming to the rescue and bringing all your friends! Even if you are at a disadvantage, you’re able to buy time for the ambulance to come, which is probably the most important thing to happen right now. This was a stressful episode; I’m honestly impressed that we were able to make it to the end with only two stabbings (and hopefully that will be all the damage there is).
But if we’re honest, both Takemichi and Draken are really not looking hot. It’s great that they’ve made it this far, but if that ambulance took any longer, I’m sure things would have been a lot worse. Let’s just hope that the ambulance is actually coming for them and not just some sounds off in the distance… that would be a real bummer. But kudos to Emma and Hina for actually calling an ambulance, even in if there’s lots of traffic, that’s still probably going to get Draken there faster than Takemichi trying to carry him there on his back. And at this point, it looks like more than one person is going to need an ambulance.
Despite this episode being so stressful, it was really enjoyable. There were so many times where the outcome was looking grim, and let’s be honest, it’s still looking pretty grim, but at the end of it at least Takemichi was able to stand his ground. I love that he was able to come to a realization that all he’s done is run since that first encounter with Kiyomasa. And you know what? Sometimes it’s okay to run, but one fight shouldn’t have you tucking your tail between your legs for the rest of time. So, good on him for actually taking Kiyomasa on head on. And it’s such an interesting fight. It’s not your typical brawl, it’s anything goes. Kiyomasa stabs Takemichi in the hand, and as scummy as that was, there wasn’t anything that said he couldn’t do it. At the same time, it’s pretty comedic that when Takemichi then bites his opponent, the onlookers just call him lame. If your guy gets to use a knife, I think it’s only a courtesy that we get to use teeth even if it’s “lame”. And lameness pays off! Kiyomasa goes down once again!
Honestly, my favorite parts came about when those around Takemichi had his back. Physically, he’s definitely at an advantage, but they still believe in him. Perhaps their belief is a little premature, but in circumstances like this you gotta take what you can get. And then the flip side of that, I love seeing how much Takemichi has impacted his friends, namely Akkun. Those acts of defiance that he showed early on clearly impacted his friends. It may not feel like he’s changing the future, but it’s the little things that’s going to help them improve (hooray for the power of friendship!). All we need to hope for now is that everyone survives. At least there are no more knives on the battlefield… At least I hope we aren’t going to get another stabbing in the next episode… If I can’t have everyone unscathed, I at least want them all to come out alive. And that’s not even taking into consideration what’s going on with Mikey and the other Toman leaders. This night has just been brutal to everyone.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next episode to see the aftermath of all this fighting. Hopefully, we don’t lose anyone… but if something is going to show up in the news the next day, it’s probably not going to be pretty. At the same time, I’m almost worried that they’re going to pull a “But the night is just getting started” and there will be even more trouble for Takemichi to figure his way through. Hoo… at the very least, I’m looking forward to it!!
