What an episode, it was incredibly unnerving! It was one of those episodes where I was consistently on the edge of my seat worried that something was going to pop-out from around the corner. I mean, just the fact that they were investigating an area between their world and the Otherside was stressful because it was uncharted area. At least when they are in the Otherside, we know something creepy or chilling is going to happen, but here we can anticipate something like that will happen but we don’t know the extent!
Ever since Akari entered the scene things have been getting more and more weird. I haven’t quite decided if that’s on purpose or if it’s just by chance. I mean, with Akari we had the Ninja Cats which on its own was much different than what we had experienced before. Then we had her friend who was handed teeth and that’s particularly noteworthy because it happened in the real world rather than the Otherside. And of course, we have this in between area which is a whole other beast. I don’t think she’s purposely inviting all of these things to come and cause problems, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s the type of character who just has bad luck and still has a good attitude out of it. Actually, now that she’s been introduced, I’m interested to know if she’ll play a role in the return to Kisaragi station. That is, of course, if they go back to Kisaragi station.
But as a side note. Since they ended up at BBQ at the end of this episode and the way they left the Otherside from Kisaragi was through the meat train, I think it’s totally possible for them to return via that restaurant. I don’t anticipate it happening, but it does that would be pretty awesome.
Anyways, I really liked this episode because things just kept getting weirder. I was never sure when we reached the peak of the unnatural area. Heck! Even in the way that it started off with Akari’s phone call and claiming that she was going to catch up with them. I think they just really did a good job with the atmosphere in this episode. I’m also curious about the salon area that they passed through. There seems to be a connection between Sorao and Satsuki, but I’m not sure what it is. Still when they passed the salon there were black hair clippings and I’m interested to know if that was symbolic of anything. I don’t think they’re actually going to outright say it, but for some reason Akari can’t tell the difference between Satsuki who has hair passed her hips and Sorao whose hair doesn’t go past her shoulders.
Speaking of Satsuki though! I am really surprised that Sorao didn’t attempt to confront her when they were on her floor. I really wonder if that is going to be a point of contention in the future. Like, they had the chance to approach her, but ultimately chose not too and she also didn’t tell the rest of the group! Sorao I hope you made the right decision. but really, out of everyone Sorao is the most apprehensive towards her since she supposedly has no connection to her aside from the fact that Akari, Kozakura, and Toriko all have connections with her. Granted, she was kind of standing in a flaming room and your travel party was passed out in an elevator. Perhaps you do deserve a pass for that.
I’m really looking forward to next week’s episode! I was worried that we weren’t going to revisit the soldiers from a few episodes ago, but it is nice to see that they are still thinking about them. But I do have one question… Do they still have Lady Hasshaku’s hat? I thought that was lost when they were at the beach. But I might have just missed the fact that they either got it back, or it just went straight back into their possessions. Still! Things are starting to come together – I really hope the series is able to finish out strong!
