Episode 33
Well then, I had a feeling Goha 6th Elementary was messed up, but not to the extent of CHILD LABOUR. “It’s said that the students improved their mind, body, and dueling ability by building the road they went to school with.” EXCUSE ME? The craziest part is that this tradition is STILL STANDING, and Yuuga and the bunch are the latest to be thrown into this mess. The only good thing about this transfer so far is that they all look really good in those blue/white uniforms!
This time we got to see Tazaki and Gakuto duel (oh my god it feels like it has been FOREVER), which Gakuto was able to win! (YAY!) But the craziest thing we saw come out of it was Tazaki’s flashbacks with Asana. It appears they are playing with the whacky “adult in a child’s body” thing they have going on with Mimi. But like Romin, his age was still unclear prompting her to constantly ask, “Just how old are you?”. But if his flashbacks were to given us any indication, then it’s probably safe to say he is probably an old man after-all, which would explain everything he has said so far (being a veteran and all). But honestly for these things there’s literally no point of really trying to figure it out, so I guess it’s just better for our collectively sanity to just roll with whatever we think it is.
Ah… But now that I think of it. It’s super awkward to see an adult lose to a elementary kid. Maybe that’s why they decided to do it this way?
Other than that, they did delve more into the plot that I am very curious about. Much to my surprise, it turns out Asana is actually taking orders from the Goha President Droid as part of their “contract”, most likely relating to her family’s business. But that doesn’t mean she has to like working with with him, because she doesn’t.
In the mean time, despite their transfer, Yuuga hasn’t wasted any time doing is own investigation on the Machine Calvary Duel Club and how Asana might have obtained her Maximum cards. So Yuuga put a plan into action where he deliberately baited Asana into sending them to the abandoned dorms so they can investigate the abandoned mines, where he believes is holding the secrets they are looking for.
Episode 34
After making a discovery about the abandoned mines, Yuuga sent Kaizo and Sebastian out on a mission to let Neil know about their situation and gain more information on how Asana got her hands on Maximum cards. I already knew this episode was going to be hilarious because Kaizo never fails to entertain me, especially when he and Sebastian are bickering with one another. However this week they understood they had to put aside their rivalry to ensure they were able to carry out their mission. As they were making their escape a Goha 6th Elementary Alien Agent Chikako (*Not Sorako) ambushed them in attempt to stop them. Sebastian stepped up to fight and buy Kaizo time.
To my surprise, Sebastian actually ended up losing the duel to Chikako, and they had that dramatic finish with him “dying” (though I highly doubt he’s dead because Neil probably has back-up data on him).
Fortunately despite the Machine Calvary Duel Club’s efforts to stop them, Kaizo was able to succesfully reach Neil to inform him of the situation. They also served as a excellent distraction, giving Yuuga and the others the opportunity to slip into the abandoned mines without being noticed. I wonder if they are going to find another relic, or whatever other secrets may be lying in wait there, because interestingly it looks like something big might be happening next week. But considering how this show is, it’s hard to gauge just how ‘serious’ this next development is gong to be. Regardless, I’m looking forward to finding out whatever they are about to discover.
…Unfortunately this will be the this will be my final entry on YGO SEVENS. ╥﹏╥
Ah man, I really hate to let this one go. It wasn’t an easy decision because as you know, I absolutely love this show. Every week it always given me so much joy and much needed laughter. But with all the absurdity and being primarily focused on comedy, it has gotten progressively more and more difficult for me to write about. Comedy has always been a tricky genre for me to cover, so getting this far is quite an accomplishment! I had I thought about holding out if this series was going to be 49 episodes or something, but after this week’s episode, I concluded this is a show I am better off watching than writing about.
Status: Dropped Coverage, but will Continue to Watch!
If you’re looking for looking for hilarious insanity I highly recommended to watch this series. Just be aware this series is taking the YGO series in a new direction, breaking away from its It’s not anything like its predecessors, paving a new road with lots of humor, endearing characters, and seemingly never ending puns!

EXTRA: Now what about YGO 5D’s Coverage?
Unfortunately as much as I want to start next week, I will only be resuming YGO 5D’s in the Spring (April 2021). There’s a lot that has happened in the recent weeks that is causing interference in my schedule, making it very difficult to blog, even on the weekends. (This is also why I am behind on my Heartcatch Precure entries ugh- so close to the end too!) I’m hoping things will get back into order by then, this way I can put 100% of my focus onto the show. If you are already following us on Twitter, I will make the announcement of when I am resuming the coverage, and I will also bring it up in the Spring Preview, so please stay tuned! I apologize that I am unable to resume it sooner, so please wait patiently until then!
Aw, it’s a shame you’re dropping reviews of the series, but I get how it can eat up your time. I do hope that the duel formula gets shaken up though, because as soon as Sebastian went first I realised he was going to lose, and I’m getting really grumpy with how obvious that is with the turn order.
I think telling who’ll lose has less to do with the turn order and more to do with whoever is able to summon a new ace monster on the final turn.
But you are at least going to do a series wrap-up and review once it’s all over…right…?
As long I as continue watching it till the very end, yes I would like to do that.
That’s a real shame. I really liked reading your reviews and was hoping to read your reactions for the next two episodes, since they’re feature Tiger and Ranze, but that’s understandable.
Yes I’m still sad about dropping the coverage. It wasn’t an easy decision.
But thank you for reading my reviews, I’m happy to hear you enjoyed them. 🙂
