Dammit Grannie, you messed up your own grandson’s chances of winning. It’s not right that OG Bulldog lied about his background, but he does have the talent. Especially when I preferred his performance muuuuuuch more than C and T’s.
So is the show being self-aware? Because I completely agree with the judge, Catherine. Carole and Tuesday’s new song was incredibly plain and boring. I don’t totally hate their music, in fact I thought it was pretty good. At first. Their voices are very pretty and they harmonize really well, and of their songs, I can say I really enjoy “Hold Me Now” and the laundry song. But their music isn’t anything groundbreaking. The lyrics are very basic and probably the thing about their stuff that’s a huge problem, though I kind of have this criticism about the other songs in the show too. It can get repetitive and has the same formula as modern pop songs, and it can be boring and kind of cringey. This new song of theirs really brings forth this problem, and them beating out OG Bulldog really irks me but this kind of stuff happens in these kinds of shows like American Idol or America’s Got Talent (because even though it’s a show about general talent, most contestants are singers). I gave up on these shows because of outcomes like this. OG Bulldog’s fusion of rap and opera was lit, and very unique. Carole and Tuesday weren’t anything special, but they are unique in that they don’t rely on AI to make their songs. And while AI dog judge was able to feel the soul in their song….well, okay. I didn’t get an emotional reaction from it at all, but they passed. RIP OG Bulldog, I would have given you my vote. T_T
I don’t know if they’re going to touch on what the judge said to them and maybe this’ll be something the show will tackle? Their song was generic and boring, there was nothing unique about it. What I would love from their music would be if they made their songs a little more personal, to really show people who they really are other than the generic stuff anyone else could come up with. Carole and Tuesday really are going to have to step it up because they’re going to be facing off against Pyotr next.
Speaking of, his performance was surprising. And again, I’m going to complain and repeat myself. I can’t wait for this show to get an English dub, and I hope they find actors with similar voices to the singers. It’s so awkward and kind of hilarious when the singer’s voice doesn’t match the seiyuu at all. I felt that way (and still do) with Carole and Tuesday, it was noticeable with Skip, but going from Aoi Shouta’s girly voice to a much deeper one is so strange that it took me awhile to get a feel of Pyotr’s performance, but in the end I really liked it. The song was catchy and the dance animation was smooth and top-notch. As much as I hate his dumb hair and his dumb Influencer persona and that stupid “Pow!” thing, he does have talent and he’s not all talk. He is someone to watch out for, and Carole and Tuesday are going to go up against him in the semifinals of their bracket. Which should be interesting. RIP Fire Brothers. Though with the way the episode ended with Angela being a brat and talking down to Carole and Tuesday (that poor manager…), it looks like we’ll end Mars Brightest with Angela and CandT being in the finals because of course. Though I have a strong feeling that Angela is going to win in the end, maybe rigging the system because she seems like the type of person that would with her money and fame.
The one thing that caught my interest the most was Tuesday’s fan, or should I say stalker. Cybelle gave off a creepy vibe immediately with the lack of personal space and the intrusive questions. I know Tuesday isn’t the brightest girl, probably because of how sheltered she was growing up, but giving your number to a stranger isn’t a good idea. Especially when they’re a fan because of the possibility of them being a maniac stalker, like in this case. Those texts were creepy. Cybelle is going to go up against Angela, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens in that round and with Cybelle in general.
I’m not going to say that I’m not enjoying the show, but my enjoyment levels have gone down. There’s a lot of good in this show, but I do have my problems with it when it comes to characters and music. And hopefully with the judge mentioning that the girls don’t rely on AI to make their music, that’ll mean that we’ll finally get to the whole traditional vs. AI music subplot that I was really looking forward to.
