The cannibalism arc trucks on, with the Armed Detective Agency in a bit of a pickle with orders from their boss not to fight against the Port Mafia. An order that a good chunk of them decide to ignore. So everyone except Atsushi and Kunikida go to fight the Port Mafia, while those two go check out if Katai found out anything about the rats.
Ranpo approaches Chuuya, knowing with him in the battle that the ADA has fairly low chances of winning. To take Chuuya out of the battle, he takes himself out as well. Right into the world of Edger Allen Poe’s new book, a mystery with a thousand characters, half of which are killers. The two of them must solve this immensely complicated mystery to return to the normal world. Critical thinking, as we may remember from the backstory at the beginning of the season isn’t exactly Chuuya’s strong suit.
So we can count on him being out of the picture for a while.
Kyoka and Akutagawa get into a brief scuffle before having to retreat from one another to the crazy lemon guy. Who just starts blowing the lobby up, driving away the members of the ADA from their assault and their attempt on Mori’s life.
However, there is no need for their organizations to be fighting because both of the leaders. Fukuzawa and Mori rise from their hospital beds and meet at a place that is symbolic to the two of them, a place where they have engaged in combat before and will again.
Meanwhile, Atsushi and Kunikida go by Katai’s apartment to find him missing. The security footage shows poor Katai being taken out by Fyodor via a shot to the back. However, Kunikida notices something odd. The futon, the futon in the security footage is not the one that Katai affectionately named and never leaves. We eventually see him show up later, but it’s good to know that he’s not dead and that Kunikida hasn’t lost something else precious to him.
Episode 11 has some cool action sequences with the fight between Mori and Fukuzawa, with some backstory sprinkled in. They were first brought together when Fukuzawa, a government Assassin was asked to protect Mori in his job as an underground doctor by their mutual acquaintance, Natsume-sensei.
Who essentially set up Yokohama as we know it. A three-way system to guard the city from harm. Leaving his two students in charge of one of the systems set in place, Fukuzawa with the Armed Detective Agency and Mori with the Port Mafia.
The battle rages on between them and when it looks as if Fukuzawa is going to be the victor, Mori plays a low card but one where he isn’t entirely wrong. If Fukuzawa dies, the ADA will fall apart and the fighting will stop. The Mafia will not be so kind though, there is much more bloodshed to be had if he died. He gets in a dirty shot here as Fukuzawa pauses and it’s immensely low, but he’s not wrong and i kind of hate that.
Thankfully, this is where Natsume-sensei comes in and intervenes with the fight. He creates an explosion and leaves it so people think that either one of them could be dead, he also has Katai with him and information on the location of the Rats. Which he had already delivered to Dazai.
Also, Natsume’s ability, we don’t know the full scope of what it can do but it can turn him into a cat and he’s been closer to the ADA then anyone would believe. Living as their secretaries cat, yes, his ability is called “I am a cat” and it can actually turn him into a cat.
With help from Natsume and Dazai out of the hospital, we begin a raid on Fyodor’s base and begin tracking down the virus ability user. Atsushi and Akutagawa are sent in together to do this and while I don’t think either of them are happy about it, Akutagawa recognizes it as his chance to impress Dazai. So he takes it seriously, they capture and eventually team up with what they believe are two random paid security guards. However, not all is as it as seems and one of these guards turns out to be the virus user.
Unfortunately, we don’t discover this until after Akutagawa takes an injury from him. So now Akutagawa is also inflicted with this mans ability and the sick Akutagawa and Atsushi must track him down as he runs. The next episode is the last of the season and hopefully the end of the cannibalism arc.
If it’s not, we’re going to be in for one hell of a cliff hanger.
