Whew, after all this time here I am with the finale of Slime Isekai! As it stands what I thought would be a final and grand last two episodes was more or less an epilogue, with all the children being cured of their inevitable deaths and Rimuru finding that everything has reached a good conclusion. Of course if you know everything in anime and manga things will eventually need to continue, but should Slime Isekai not get a season 2 then this is a great conclusion. Except we don’t get closure on Leon or any of the like, but man did we get backstories with Shizue and an extra episode with Ifrit and Veldora shooting the shit.

Most of my opinion of these final episodes were that they were satisfying but underwhelming. My least favorite episodes of Slime were the episodes closest to this, but they were what they needed to be to end the show. Since that’s the case, however, it’s time for me to give my final review on the show and say what I think. (Okay, I am kind of hype for bishounen evil mancer here)

The Plot of Slime Isekai:

The plot of Isekai shows as a genre are all pretty standard. But instead of simply waking up in another world for seemingly no reason, Slime Isekai outright makes it a plot element of the show that other worlders come and go. On top of that, they tend to come and go when they die in the other world. This is way more interesting than the basic acceptance of Isekai shows with the ‘otherworlders’. On top of this it’s really fun for me to see a main character who has power for believable reasons: he’s such a good person who died for someone else, and he chose his reincarnation ‘skills’ as he died for them. Honestly, if anyone deserves these magic powers it’s the dude who took a knife for a kid he works with.

I’m intrigued by the plot if not understanding it will be lacking in surprises. But the good thing about Slime Isekai is that no matter how bored the plot might be in another anime, no matter how much the plot seems to be predictable: Slime Isekai makes me laugh. I enjoy every character I’m meant to and I love every second of the stupid hijinks the characters get into. Never am I rooting against Rimuru. I guess this bleeds into the other topics now: The characters in this show are great and I love them endlessly. It’s hard not to just fawn over Shion and all the Ogres because they’re frankly the best in the show, aside from Milim and Rimuru. How are characters who should be such one note cliches so amusing to watch?

The OST and the Art of the show were middling to above average. I never felt too annoyed with any of it but there were times I just shrugged it off. There were plenty of times I just enjoyed the shit out of myself with zany animations and booby bounces. And honestly, what more can you ask for from a show about slimes saving the world one hot girl transformation at a time? So let’s get to the points:

Plot: 7/10

Art: 7/10

Characters: 9/10

OST: 7/10

Overall: 7.5 /10

Oki Verdict: I’m trash and you are too so you’ll enjoy it.

Ultimately if you’re an anime fun looking for a casual fun time then I solidly recommend Slime Isekai. Give it a shot and if the jokes and the characters interest you, the ride won’t ever stop from episode 1 onward.
