Soooo, Origami is a spirit now. Can’t say I was expecting that. On the other hand, Tohka is still as adorable as ever even in the midst of a crisis.

But most importantly… Yessss, bring me my ultimate time controlling waifu. KURUMI IS FINALLY HERE! I watched the whole episode, closed it out, started writing this post and literally halfway through I thought, ‘wait, was Origami looking at the clock ticking.’ I had to go back and watch the ending. I came like so close to missing it entirely. I really need to start staying after the credits.

Before I get to that though, I forgot that Yoshino, Yoshinon, and Natsumi were hanging out in the city. I guess I should have expected them to be the ones to save Shidou rather than a rogue appearance from the time lord herself. Natsumi really has a sadistic side to her, doesn’t she? Our boy Shidou was strapped into a bolted down chair and she couldn’t resist turning into Origami to tease him. I feel so bad that the activation requirement for her power is to recall bad memories though. That’s so sad but hilarious at the same time. And that story she told about eating alone in a bathroom… Yikes. You would think she could still eat alone at her desk in the classroom. It might make you look like a loner, but I feel like it’s a lot better than eating on a toilet. Poor girl.

Speaking of bad memories, it looks like Origami’s desire for revenge is still going strong. I don’t know exactly what that crystal thingy was, but she’s now on an actual even playing field with spirits. Her form is pretty badass too. Also really pure though. Very angelic and white, but with a ring of laser cannons. The best of both worlds? It might actually be my favorite spirit form we’ve seen so far.

I still can’t find it in myself to hate her for betraying them. I still want to like her. She makes it hard though. So hard. Normally, there’d be some hesitation, maybe some brooding or something. Nope. I think Origami was straight up smiling and ready to decapitate Kaguya on the spot until Tohka transformed.

It was cool that Tohka got her powers back. Especially when she had that moment right before where she knew she couldn’t lose control again like she did last time. It’s nice to see that she’s grown, at least in that aspect. Her fumbling of the Japanese language is still one of the funniest things in the show to me. I’m not sure if she’s able to go full power again because she has a special (well, I guess extra special) bond with Shidou or if it was just the dire situation that let it happen. If all the spirits could return there might be a pretty big battle in the future.

The episode kind of left us hanging on the Fraxinus situation which was a bit annoying. After the opening battle scene, we heard Shidou try to call, but that didn’t work and it wasn’t mentioned again. I’m sure they’re fine though. No other major updates on DEM. It looks like Origami sustained some lasting damage from the fight but nothing too serious. Before I watched the after credits scene, I kept rewatching when Origami looked at the clock and said ‘Could it be…’ I truly didn’t get it at first. I kept thinking I was missing something and just ended up ignoring it. Then, I was writing here about how I didn’t get what that scene meant. I feel so dumb… I was like, ‘Wait. Clock? Kurumi? KURUMI?!’ Lo and behold. It’s finally time.

I’m not sure why Kurumi and Origami are meeting up, whether it’s as potential ally’s or enemies. To be honest, I don’t really care. One thing I do know, next episode is going to be awesome. Kurumi is a very chaotic character so I think anything could happen and I’d be like, ‘yeah, that makes sense.’

I felt bad for Tohka at the very end. She was still waiting on that sealing but the others interrupted. Damn harem antics interfering. Shidou is still so shy about it, but Tohka has always been pretty bold. I wish he’d step up a bit more in the romance department. Miku’s voice still kills me. It’s so angelic and soothing and then she opens her mouth to actually sing with her powers and they chose like a monotonous, low-effort yell. I’m assuming it’s supposed to be actually beautiful to listen to and it’s beauty transcends what our weak non-2D ears can understand. It still makes me laugh though. It’s so ridiculous.
