Hey, quick announcement! We updated our comment policy and it’d be great if you guys would check it out if you haven’t already. We made lots of new updates to the rules so it’s real important that you guys are in the know. Thanks!
As per usual, the girls get another request. Kohane is super excited about officially becoming a club rather than an association so she goes a little crazy when the manga girl goes up to them. The manga club just needs the girls to be there for them and to watch over them as they try to finish their manga in time for their deadline. They haven’t had a wink of sleep in two days so they need to be there to make sure they don’t pass out. No cheering involved. I…kind of don’t like this trope where people who make manga are killing themselves to complete something. I know this is kind of normal, and personally I think it shouldn’t be. More concerning than funny, but maybe that’s the worrywart adult in me. Eventually though, the girls help in others ways such as being models for their manga characters. There’s cute moments here and there and DBZ references. I liked seeing Kohane see herself going Super Saiyan/Cheerleader when they brought up joining a tournament. It would be really cool if it all went out in tournament arc style like typical sports anime/manga do but…this isn’t that kind of show. Oh well.
Also, they’re probably going to shoehorn this tournament in the end and they’ll somehow do great. I don’t know, there’s only two episodes left and Kohane still hasn’t gotten over her fear of heights, and it looks like we’ll get introduced to two new characters next week. Rivals?
The second half was the obligatory beach/training camp episode. It was funny that the girls imagined curry, swimsuits and swimming, and girl talk when Hizume brought up the training camp. But instead it’s intense because Hizume is serious. Though eventually they did end up wearing swimsuits, but I appreciate the show being self-aware with the things anime do in these kinds of episodes. While Hizume is intense in wanting to heighten their skills in all areas of cheer, another goal she wants to accomplish is her own personal goal of breaking down the wall that’s between her and Kana. Hizume thinks Kana hates her, or at least is deathly afraid of her because every time she tries to get near her, Kana backs away. Of course, we all know it’s because Kana has a huge crush on Hizume and is too embarrassed to even be in the same room as her. She admires her so much and watches her from afar but Hizume is upset. Kohane and Kotetsu remind Kana that Hizume is a normal girl like them and that she should try to calm herself a bit so she doesn’t hurt Hizume’s feelings, because Hizume is kind of dumb and doesn’t realize what’s up with her. So eventually Kana controls herself and attempts to have a normal and better relationship with her beloved senpai.
The girls also got a request from the matron to take part in a local beach festival in order to liven that up, and I’m guessing we’re going to be seeing that next week along with the new characters that were shown in the preview. While this episode was cute as usual with some parts that made me giggle, it was a little uneventful for the most part so I’m looking forward to something slightly more exciting to happen. Whatever “exciting” means in these moe types of shows, I have no idea.
