CRINGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Oh my god I was absolutely overwhelmed by second-hand embarrassment for Sakuta. I understood why he did confessed so intensely, but I can’t tell you how much I wanted to take my headphones off and walk away because I was absolutely mortified on his behalf. I mean, I was laughing, it was hysterical, but at the same time I was covering my face thinking, “Oh my god! This has to be the most awkward and embarrassing profession of love I have seen in a while!”

But it’s exactly what made this episode so fantastic to watch!

The next morning when they returned to school, they made a chilling discovery that none of the students remembered Mai. The only ones who did were Sakuta and Rio, and the reason for that was because neither of them slept the night before. The revelation left Sakura extremely disturbed, realizing had he fallen asleep, he wouldn’t have remembered Mai. With the stakes so high, despite it being exams period, Sakuta took it upon himself to write in his journal about his time with Mai, and took extreme measures of making sure he wouldn’t fall asleep. He managed to do this for two nights until Mai figured out what he was doing, and put sleeping pills in his drink. The alarming part was how the next morning, despite what he had written in his journal, he failed to heed its warning, disregarding how important it was and didn’t think much of it until he felt like someone was watching him, and when he received the letter from Rio explaining how to overcome the phenomena. In the end, what helped Sakuta remember were actually was the review he and Mai were doing the night before the exam.

Still, even though we knew it was going to happen, it was quite chilling how Sakuta forgot her, but it also made it an amazing scene when he remembered her. Although it was a bit corny and super over the top for my taste, I still loved it. I especially loved how she reacted to it, slapping him in the face was exactly what I expected from her!

However despite how endearing Sakuta’s confession was, and how much I adore Sakuta and Mai together (I ship it!), it still perplexes me how Sakuta fallen in love with her in a month’s time. It’s just… well I don’t know, it’s weird. Maybe it’s just been a while since I last watched/read something where someone falls in love with someone so quickly, (slow-burn ftw) but it still feels like it happened too fast. Again, the combination of how high the stakes were, and how close Sakuta has been with Mai, I guess it serves as a valid reason for why his feelings for her developed so quickly. However on the more positive note, Mai did act rather sensible in such absorb situation by understanding there emotions were running high on adrenaline, and told him to confess to her again in a month, so in a way they aren’t ‘together’ yet, nor has Mai formally accepted his confession. So I guess it will be fine. That being said, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the ‘newly-weds’ banter between Mai and Sakuta, especially since he is proving to be quite a smooth talker.

With Mai’s case seems to have been resolved (at least for now) as the students finally acknowledged her existence, a new case of Adolescent Syndrome has emerged. This time it will revolve around the theory of Laplace’s Demon (or as Sakuta refers to it as: Laplace’s Petit-Devil). I actually like this change of pace because I am absolutely intrigued by the way these theories are being used in this story.

With that said, it saddens me that I have to announce this will be the last week I cover this show due to schedule conflicts. This season, my busiest days of the week are Wednesdays through Saturdays. Although I knew I would be busy, I wanted to give it a shot and see if I could make it work. But after barely getting the episode out on Thursday last week, and how exhausted I am tonight, I knew regardless how good this episode was, this was going to be my last one. It is really too bad because I am absolutely loving it, but I already have YGO VRAINS to cover on Wednesdays, so it’s just really unfortunate timing. Still, I will try I will ask around and to see if anyone else on the team is interested and has the time to take over! ; v ; /

Status: Dropped
Reason: Schedule Conflicts.
That being said, give this show a shot! It’s super intriguing!

Ok….I only read the manga, and having the anime reached the point where the manga ended in just 3 episodes feels like that this first part was rushed. On the other hand, having it finish in 3 episodes means that there’s more material to bring out, so I’m looking forward to it….when I watch it on Crunchyroll.

“The reason why I say this is because, just a few days ago at the beach, he had just told her he was still in love with Shouko, his first love.”
Except… he didn’t? He explicitly used past tense, and made certain to point that out to her when she got annoyed.
