Well…that was fast. No way did I think that they would have rescued Togo already. Again, pacing seems to be an issue this season so far. This all happened way too quickly.
I didn’t think they were going to be able to save Togo when we saw that she was in the black hole. I mean…it’s a black hole. But somehow Yuna was able to break into it with enough barrier to protect her. She watches Togo’s memories and learns that the reason why Togo was there was because she willingly went there as a sacrifice. But honestly, what did they think Togo was going to say? They knew she wasn’t going to say no and would put herself in the place of the other sacrifices as she felt responsible and guilty over breaking a hole into the wall. Even if Togo hadn’t broken the wall, if you were suddenly asked if you could be the sacrifice and save a group of people because of your powers, of course you would sacrifice yourself instead. Either way, Yuuna doesn’t want Togo to do this and she forcefully drags her out of there.
What is a cause for concern now is Yuuna. Togo had a red symbol on her breast before Yuuna pulled her out, and when she did the mark that was on her jumped over to Yuuna. And now back in the regular world, Yuuna still has this mark. What could this mean? Yes, Togo was using herself as a sacrifice and now she doesn’t need to because “she’s done enough”? Togo is fine, everything is normal, but is it really? What does this mean for Yuuna? Is she now taking the place of sacrifice? But how? It was said Togo could take the place because she’s the only hero that is a shrine maiden. I’m just concerned, what is going to happen to Yuuna? Also, why did she say that she was there in the black hole before? For some reason, I think it was probably when she was in a comatose state at the end of the first episode that she probably paid a visit there, so it was possible that Yuuna was already paying her crimes as a sacrifice. And maybe they used Togo as bait to get Yuuna back? There’s so many questions right now so we can’t say for certain except to just make guesses.
Also, how is the Taisha able to change the Hero system so quickly and easily?
Anyway, while interesting this episode was I found that it happened too quickly and I think this season would have been better as a 12-episode season. I think the Togo rescue mission could have been given a couple more episodes with some proper build up to the mission, because I feel that plot points are just going to happen too quickly without us being able to digest it properly. I felt the prequel’s opening episodes started off its story much better than the sequel, so here’s hoping that this sequel won’t fall flat.
“Also, how is the Taisha able to change the Hero system so quickly and easily?”
You never asked that in WaSuYu…
Also between end of S1 (lets say early Fall) to beginning S2 (late Fall or beginning of Winter) is enough time considering they had 300 years to develop the Hero System and other things that are mentioned in the side material (speak KuMeYu).
Of course they could have stretched it to 2 Episodes with a lengthy Tougou Point of View but I feel the pacing is very good considering that they had to rescue Tougou fast (she probably burned a week there. anymore would have killed her probably), the aims of the story (see Side Material) and that the new Hero System is no system that can take punishment for long fights anymore.
