It’s raining blood.

Despair. Disgust. Death. That’s what this anime has become. They started off with the ruthless mind games and now this anime has turned into an all-out battle royale. It’s not even about collecting candies anymore, it’s about who’s going to survive against these merciless magical girls. The tone of the show was always dark, but there was always a bit of sweet lightheartedness at times that would make you smile. That’s all gone now. No more cute hand holding, no more sitting by the moon. I can’t even smile from Top Speed’s witch laugh because she keeps mentioning six months and I don’t know what she’s talking about, and I know it just has to be bad.

Play time is over.

horriblesubs-mahou-shoujo-ikusei-keikaku-06-1080p-mkv0025I…knew Sou-chan was going to die. I knew he was with all the death flags surrounding him, but he died way too early! It was…brutal. All the deaths this episode were brutal, but throwing Sou-chan on the highway to have his body get hit by a truck so badly that his body was mangled to shreds…is evil. Cranberry is evil, and Fav is too. I loved Sou-chan/La Pucelle and I loved how he stuck to his ideals until the very end. He fought Cranberry fair and square and lived up to his ideals that magicals are fair and true. And he proved that anyone, male or female, can be a magical girl! He lived his dream, but it all came to an end so suddenly. Really, I didn’t think it was fair. He landed a pretty good hit on Cranberry but she acted like it was nothing and beat the crap out of him. The fight itself was really well done and great to watch. It was intense and exciting, but also nerve wracking and brutal because I didn’t want to believe Sou-chan was going to die. I really loved him. I believed the power of love would be strong enough to protect him and Koyuki, but this anime doesn’t care about the power of love.

After announcing the death of La Pucelle, that saves the girls from an elimination. Fav uses this opportunity to shift the “game” into an ugly direction with the introduction of items. There are five different items such as medicine, a cloak, a weapon, and so on. The items are at a first come first serve basis and they each have a different cost. Depending on how valuable the item is some can have a higher cost than others. At first I thought that they would just have to pay with some of their candies, but seeing the low amounts completely changed my mind. The girls have to pay their own lifespan to get an item. For example, the medicine the twins bought had the number 3. That means they payed 3 years of their life for it. Which isn’t so bad compared to the 25 years of her life Swim gave up for the cloak, who she just gave to Tama. The introduction of these items made it pretty much clear that this was a whole different battle now. Instead of looking out for candies, they need to look out for their lives. It’s gotten so serious, to the point of the girls giving up years of their life so that they could survive this awful battle. Also, with these items, I can imagine the girls are going to try stealing them from each other, which is another reason for more deaths and fights.

horriblesubs-mahou-shoujo-ikusei-keikaku-06-1080p-mkv0037Judging by the conversation Cranberry and Fav had with each other, they are definitely up to something. They seem to be in a mutual agreement on something because they’re planning things with each other. It appears that both of them are the masterminds behind wittling down the magical girls, but for a bigger cause. Giving out these magical items seems to be a test to see which girl will triumph over it all and survive, and it sounds like they plan to find this strong girl and use her for something. I don’t know what, I can’t even imagine what they would want. Fav showed a truly evil side to himself and this little asshole is having fun watching all this blood and carnage unfold.

horriblesubs-mahou-shoujo-ikusei-keikaku-06-1080p-mkv0065I’m so scared for Snow White/Koyuki. With her daintyness, she’s not suited to fight. La Pucelle was always the one protecting Koyuki and fighting for her while Koyuki would stand back. She even says she doesn’t want to fight, but how is she going to survive all of this? Depressed and broken now that her friend and crush is dead, and smart enough to know that he was killed, I can see that this is all becoming too much for her to handle. She was willing to buy one of the items but she was too late because they were all taken. Koyuki is going to have to learn to protect herself, but I can see that being hard. I really like her, so when Alice appeared, I was concerned.

But gasped when Magicaloid sent her head flying. Decapitating Alice, Magicaloid made her way to kill Koyuki as she thought killing two magical girls instead of one would impress Calamity Mary more. When they showed Magicaloid’s backstory in the beginning of the episode, I knew she was going to die. But even so, her brutal death still surprised me. Especially when it was by Alice. I was confused at first and I had to replay that scene because I wasn’t sure who it was. But seeing a headless figure in Koyuki’s eyes made it clear that it was Alice who dealt the deadly blow. Also, from the eyecatch it said her magic is her being able to heal from any injury. So I guess that includes decapitation? Safe to say, Koyuki is going to be mentally scarred from seeing so much bloodshed in those few minutes.

Deaths (in order):

  1. Nemurin
  2. Ruler
  3. La Pucelle
  4. Magicaloid 44

Four more to go, but let’s be real here. I don’t think this is simply going to be about wittling down the number of magical girls to half. I think the body count is going to be much higher than that.

Rest well, Sou-chan. You didn’t deserve that heartless death. Join Nemurin on her happy cloud. 🙁

Unfortunately still a weeb

Finally someone had the right reaction to Hardgore Alice scene. People are going so ‘obvious’, the eyecatch spoiled it, etc. Really as if they immediately figured out that she can survive being headless from that power description, not figured it out after the scene. Even if there was no eyecatch, the viewer were supposed to figure out that Alice was not dead because her body stayed magical girl after being headless. If Magicaloid 44 and Snow White had more experiences they would notice that part too.

    Good review btw.

Oh that’s right. I didn’t even pay too much attention that Alice was still in her magical girl form. It all happened so fast, haha. But really it’s amazing that she can even survive an injury like that. That pretty much makes her immortal as a magical girl so I’ve very interested to see more of her.

      And thank you. ^^
