The Fake Miracle was one hell of a beautifully executed bluff. But unfortunately for Eylstadt,  the intelligent Major Berkman is already hot on their heels. While many are either having a difficult time grasping the idea of a witch being a real thing, or believe she is invincible, Berkman already determined with simple logic that Izetta is not the invincible witch they are making her out to be. It is only a matter of time before Berkman figures out the Izeta’s greatest weakness and utilize that to his advantage for the Witch Hunt Operation where he has specifically recruited Basler (the surviving pilot) to take her down. And that day will likely come sooner than later no thanks to the Eylstadt top officials’ carelessness.

shuumatsu-no-izetta-ep-5-img-0011I wanted to rip my hair out when Schneider and Sieg were discussing how they made such a spectacle, and Schneider spills the secret of how Izetta can’t use magic in certain areas. It’s not thank to these two idiots that tragedy is waiting to happen. It certainly didn’t help when we were shown Germania’s mole who serves as a low ranked officer. But while it seems he may have not been at the scene to hear the secret (though he may have) since he was making his way to the river to speak to Jonas- who we know for sure did overhear the conversation, and made a run for it, leaving his beloved family picture behind.

That being said, I am curious to see what kind of role Jonas will play if he isn’t killed off or captured for information. He absolutely adores Izetta, and is amazed by the power and miracles she holds. There could be some benefits of having a low ranked officer potentially know her secret and be assigned the duty to watch out for her on the front lines.

Finally, for the last week I found myself trying to decide whether or not I should continue with the coverage. I like the show very much, but writing about it has turned into a boring task. It’s not something I have any motivation to do. So I think it would be in my best interest to end my coverage here, and stick to watching it as a casual viewer. Perhaps if I find enough motivation, I will write a Random Review on it.

Interestingly, Izetta’s head writer, Hiroyuki Yoshino, is no stranger to using fanservice in his works. He was involved in writing Guilty Crown and Code Geass, and also authored the story of the Seikon no Qwaser manga (very violence and fanservice ridden, MC has to suck breast milk to recover his energy. He’s also teaming up with Seikon’s artist to release another new manga, The Divine-Cursed Nectar.)

Sounds like a plan. I look forward to your (hopefully) enthused final thoughts. Whether that’s through many shouts and cheers, or many tissues and tears, we will see.

A pity that you will not write further episode reviews. But it’s always better to write for something if one is in the mood for it than to force oneself through.
