Before I begin, I first off want to apologize for how late this has come out. I hadn’t been well for the past two weeks, life has been keeping me preoccupied more than I had liked it to and I have been dealing with eye problems, getting sick due to being overtired, and now today: food poisoning. That being said, I am actually quite relieved I have to do a double-post (except for the fact it is basically a week later than it should have already been!). After seeing the subbers’ reaction to episode 115, a part of me didn’t want to watch it because I was dreading how bad it was going to be. And they were right. It was horrible and to make matters worse, only NOW they decided to bring back the BAD Action Cards. Wow, it’s virtually been ONE HUNDRED EPISODES SINCE WE LAST SEEN IT, AND NOW YOU DECIDE TO BRING IT BACK TO CREATE SO-CALLED “DRAMA” FOR THIS HALF-ASSED EPISODE? It is incredibly heartbreaking how the quality of the writing has essentially been thrown out the window entirely. This episode is absolute garbage. I am sorry, but there is no other way to put it, it’s just that bad. Skip it if you haven’t watch it. All you need to know is that Selena took Yuzu back to Academia, and Reiji and the others manage to finally regroup. That’s it, that is all you need to know. Man I just hope they get their shit together because I will be livid if they intend to continue this BS till the very end.
So with that being said, let’s move on.
Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Episode 116: PRELUDE OF BACK TO THE PLOT!
I KNEW IT. I FREAKING KNEW IT. I KNEW DESPITE DENNIS’ TIP, THE TOWERS WERE GOING TO BE A TRAP. Everything was flowing way too smoothly, and with the Guardians and the the dungeon-like door, oh my god, the whole thing screamed to be a trap. I don’t know if Kaito and Yuugo are going to get locked in the towers- according to the preview it looks like they won’t be, but there is one thing for sure, Ruri, Rin and Selena are ALL brainwashed. They got something malicious controlling them, and my guess it has something to do with the cards that super creepy guy is holding. YUZU!!!! BE CAREFUL GIRL!!!! Gosh I hope Yuzu will be okay. The girls look downright terrifying, I mean, Rin’s smile was exceptionally creepy!!!!
I am almost afraid to make the claim of ‘Oh it’s looks like we’re finally getting back on track!’ because good lord, they need to and this episode… while it was understandably underwhelming, it was at least was not nearly as painful as the last one. I eagerly anticipate what to come from Episode 117 and on out. All the players on are the same field now, and soon we will learn the truth behind the ARC Area Project, and what role the girls play. But most importantly, it doesn’t look like the girls will snap out of it until someone defeats the creepy dude, or maybe the girls might have some little breakthrough moments, but ultimately, it looks more like they are going to wipe the floor next week. Needless to say, I am very excited to finally see Ruri and Rin duel, we have waited so long for this! I wonder if we will see a glimpse of Yuzu and Selena next week, perhaps closer to the end of the episode. Another thing I am looking forward to is the encounter between Yuushou and Leo. Actually, I am bit worried about Yuushou’s fate since I fear they just might train to get him under control too, if not card him if he does not agree with Leo’s reasons for doing this.
And one more thing: THANK GOD, SHUN IS BACK, AND HE KNOWS SOMETHING IS OFF (I am sure of it, he’s a sharp guy). I was seriously getting worried about Kaito being the one to save Ruri, but fortunately while he did find her first, he hasn’t quite saved her since she is not herself and is now out to attack them. Poor Yuugo though, he finally managed to reunite with Rin, and even got kneed in the stomach, and she isn’t herself either. Man he is going to be both devastated and furious.
It’s fine, Eva. You were dealing with a lot of stuff and it was the worst episode in the series.
I did absolutely love that eventually, Apollo and Diana barely slowed Yugo and Kite down. Also pretty neat to see Kite mistake Yugo for the Pawn of Fusion, and to see Yugo’s catchphrase actually WORK for once, the poor sod.
Took you three weeks for a double post, but glad you’re back in business!

Indeed, that alone made episode 115 really awful. :p

But yes, Shun MUST be back to deliver humanity his best gifts: A Rank 12 Raidraptor & a Rank-Up searcher. (SO WHEN WILL YUTO BE SEPARATED FROM YUYA FOR MORE PHANTOM KNIGHTS??)

**** KAITO, I’m fine with my birdie Ruri being brainwashed just this once because since they’re walking down the tower, I hope Ruri pushes Kaito down and kill him, that vile man is a cancer and must be purged! (Though judging by the preview, it may come only half-true as Rise Falcon bailed Kaito out)
Here’s my commentary for episodes 115 & 116.
Episode 115
• Serena: Come with me if you want to live. EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. (Yeah right…)
• It wouldn’t be the GX Dimension without the Pirate filler!
• This captain’s full name better be Roronoa Solo.
• NOW the Yuzu X Serena shippers went wild! 😀
• As much as I adore Serena as the best Yu-girl, no fucking way it was THAT easy for her to escape and wait around considering how she was drugged in City and then got dragged away by Barrett.
• I smell a Trap Card. The bond of Lancers… Will soon be betrayed.
• FUCKING CALLED IT! SERENA THAT SLY BITCH! SHE’S THE BACKSTABBER! >:(
• … Wow, I know that the writers have been billing Sawatari & Gongenzaka as useless, but this is just absurd. No duel. No struggle. Grab a net. Give it to unnamed fodders. DONE. Lancers? Or Jobbers?
• Yuya, you’re about to go through a GX tradition of nonsense pirate duels. At least this one is more plot relevant than the original. We can only hope that Yuya doesn’t get abducted even after he won.
• On a side note: Apparently they can’t just net Yuya up, because…? (I don’t need to answer that. :p)
• WOW, Captain Lock is stupidly overpowered. All you need to do is to set up a good board and send this out on your first turn and you’ve now LOCKED your opponent out of the game unless they’re special summoning from the Graveyard or Fusion Summoning directly from the Extra Deck.
• How does the Fusion Pirate know about Action Cards? And is he balancing a card on a single tooth?
• Get Your Game On, Yuya! CARD GAMES ON ROLLERSKATES!!
• ARE YOU THAT STUPID, YUYA?! If the Action Card only brings you harm, DON’T USE IT!!
• … So how long are people’s turns allowed to last in Action Duels because Yuya is taking however long he wants to grab the Action Cards that he haven’t bricked for so long.
• The boat has been rocked… and Yuya’s about to achieve martyrdom… How did he faint so easily?

• Holy shit, that Trap can be OP with certain Entermates instead of Solo’s rubbish pirate monsters.
• I REALLY need to make a new Death-Toy deck, it has always been Arc V’s BEST Fusion archetype!

• Funny that Captain Solo was beaten in the manner how Jack Sparrow was swallowed by the Kraken.
• Bright note of the duel: Besides Sora joining in and finish the business, NO Egao bullshit sprouting from Yuya’s mouth as he always do for his duels (when not in Berserk state).
• WHAT UTTER BULLSHIT!! Crow, I just can’t trust your words on this one, because no fucking way everything’s peaceful & equal now. You guys destabilized an entire city built on class warfare due to Yuya’s Egao.
• On a side note: WHY ISN’T DA KINGU JACK ATLAS WITH THEM??!! No Royal Curb-stomp moments for our King, it seems… :p
• The writers might say that Jack, along with ENJOY Chojiro & Dr. Bees a.k.a. SHINJI “wannabe revolutionist” WEBER will maintain order in the post-Friendship Cup City, but seeing ONLY Crow returning makes me feel that this is part of Konami’s marketing scheme to sell more Blackfeathers.
• Okay Yuya, good luck trying to sway Serena back to the Lancers. But for me, Serena’s treachery (don’t care whether she was brainwashed or not) makes me need to re-evaluate who’s my favourite Yu-waifu now…
• ONWARD, TO KEIKAKU-ING THE FUCK OUT OF ACADEMIA!!!!!
Episode 116
• OMG Yugo got teleported to… a lecture hall in the Academia?!! He even dare lecturing the students about the difference between Fusion and “YUGO”, AGAIN!! THIS IS TOO FUNNY!!! XD XD
• That Kaiser Ryo easter egg, AWESOME! Is he actually in the show?!! Really want to see a triple powerhouse Ryo vs Jack vs Kaito duel!! 😀
• Running a D-Wheel IN the school, that’s how Yugo chilled out with his crew in the schoolyard. All students should emulate him! XD XD
• I wonder where’s the next location Yuzu’s bracelet will be teleporting Yugo to. And I’m still waiting for Ruri to hit him to complete the gag of him being bitch-slapped by all the Yu-waifus.
• Ahem, the cruiser is supposed to be full of people, but all of the sudden it becomes a ghost cruiser WITHOUT anybody but Kaito, Yusho and Asuka onboard? I call bullshit on that. >_>
• GET YOUR HANDS OFF MUH BOI YUGO, KAITO!!!! And enough with the “Pawn of Fusion” nonsense already!!! >:(
• Wow, that Yugo riding scene was ripped straight from the opening.
• Some might be imagining the Yu-waifus being sad for ready to sacrifice their virginity to Leo’s lust, but then again people should stop making false assumptions, they just might be longing for their FIRST sex. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
• It seems that Diana’s wand was just a cosplay prop because she threw it away real quick.

• As expected, what an underwhelming reunion between Kaito and Ruri. If only Shun and Yuto were there, we could expect more emotional moments. That, and Kaito actually rescues his family… and got killed in front of them.
• Even RIN doesn’t respond well to Yugo’s glomps! FALCON KNEE OF JUSTICE!!!
• OMFG DAT YUGO FACE!!!! I JUST CAN’T!!!! XD XD I’m not even joking, I had to stop watching the episode when I saw dat face, it made me laugh so hard I could barely breathe!!!! XD XD

Don’t worry, after watching 117 I can say things are turning for the better. [spoiler]Like damn, the episode is just plain sick! (in the good way). All I can say is look forward to both Rin and Yugo giving it their all when they duel each other. There’s no going easy on the other player.[/spoiler]
Pirate captain episode was terrible, but at least it gave us a shot of Yuya dodging cannonfire.
Guardians of Pokemon Sun and Moon while not particularly good, does feel necessary all things considered, and things moved forward. It was also nice seeing Yugo duel again, but I’m sick of Kaito.
If I had not watched 117 before commenting I would probably be a lot harsher on 116, but it more than made up, for me at least. Really looking forward to your impressions on that one.

Hey there Eva, long time reader, first time commenting. First I would like to say how much I enjoy your reviews, of course I don’t always agree with your opinions on some episodes, but that’s okay because we can like the same show but have different views on it and hopefully we will be able to have civilized discussions about these different views. For example, while I thought episode 115 wasn’t one Arc V best, I thought it still had some good points. (P.S. I like to uses dub names when talking about the show so I’ll put there japan names in () so you know who I’m talking about)
Episode 115:
The moment when Celina(Serena) talks about what the Lancers mean to her was sweet.
Silvio(Shingo) and Gongs(Gongenzekas) reactions to the pirate were funny.
When Celina(Serena) betrayed the others you really felt sad and sorry for the Lancers, especially Zuzu(Yuzu) poor girl.
Captain Lock was pretty effective and it showed why the Action Cards are need, personally I could live without them, but most of the Lancers decks don’t have much defense so they need them. I mean just look at Yuya’s opening hand in this episode, he no doubtfully would have Pendulum Summoned all the monsters in his hand with his two magicians, leaving him with a Trap card that couldn’t be used without a monster in his hand, so he would have been defenseless, trying to preform an OTK. In fact many people Sora, Shay(Shun) and Moon Shadow(Tsukikaga) all focus on OTK strategies which effectively destroying there hands leaving almost no defense. Even Silvio and Declan(Reggie) focus on summing lots of monsters in one turn, again destroying there hands.
Lastly I liked when the Lancers came in, to save the day, Moon Shadow(Tsukikaga) rescuing Silvio and Gong, showing off his ninja speed making it all the more believable how he can grab enough Action Cards in the two minute interval between his moves to preform an OTK with his spell card. Also Declan(Reggie) mother fucking Akaba driving up mission impossible style in a speed boat, because of course he knows how to drive a boat, he’s just that awesome. And I like the moment when the Lancers were all back together (minus Zuzu and Celina). With Declan giving that awesome speech of how there going to take the fight to his father, save their friends and end Leo’s evil plan,

Hahaha I can't help but be super critical when I know the writers have the ability to do so much better. It goes without saying my patience had worn thin prior to 115 given how rushed the episodes had been during those couple of weeks. xD Thank god for 117 though!
I know what you mean, despite my complements in my previous post, I still feel episode 115 the writers were half asleep while writing it. Luckily 116 and 117 were fantastic, although I’ll admit it’s sad to see Celina(Serena), Rin and Lulu(Ruri) under such a mind control, those three innocent girls put through that. I really hope Yuya and the Lancers get to Zuzu(Yuzu) before the Doktor (I think that’s how the subs spelled it) uses one of those parasites on her, that is simultaneously the most impressive, scary and disgusting form of mind control I’ve ever seen. After what Zuzu(Yuzu) went through in Synchro, with the crash in episode 77 and being captured by Roger in episode 92, I don’t want to see her get hurt anymore.
I agree with you on 115 mostly, but purely on the first half and half-so on the second! It was predictable and as much as i love Selena i knew right away that she had betrayed them. How? Because the moment that Academia arrived and she was told along with Yuzu to get behind the boys, she went with it immediately. Now the Selena i know wouldn’t just calmly comply with that request and be insistent on duelling for herself! It’s what i love about her!
But yeah, the pirate is forgettable, the duel not very fun… i was honestly only scared for Yuya. I LITERALLY cared about nothing else in that scene other than him getting the cards (because well, in that episode Yuya was the only entertaining thing to watch even though he was in pain for a good chunk of it). And when he was nearly KILLED by being tossed overboard (although seriously that should be considered cheating!) that’s when the second half started and things became… ok for me. I let out a cheer when i saw Crow. Reira and Reiji appear in a speedboat. And thats about it… after that i was just excited that Sora could finish the pirate off so the duel could finish.
So yeah, shit writing with pointless filler duel (can you even call it a duel? Not a lot happened in it). But ok second half cos the rest of the lancers appeared with our fave characters including Tsukikage <3 😀 Oh and the fact that it ended… albeit with silly music when they sailed away…
i liked 116 more, agree that it wasnt great but certainly a good plot episode. Was confused as to why Yugo ended up in the fusion dimension still. But i assume that's either for plot convenience or that since all the girls are in the same dimension the boys just get teleported to different locations.
I absolutely hope that Rin's reaction to seeing Yugo again was her true personality and not just fake. Not just because its funny as hell her kick to him! But her personality in general in only a minutes shot its way up to my number 2 spot in best girl in the show just below Selena. If Ruri gives more character when she duels she may have a shot at becoming my best girl because i like her design best. I just love Selena slightly more than Rin atm.
Hope 117 is good, will watch it tomorrow.
