Episode 7
So in traditional fashion, we go to Tokiko’s show again, but this time with SHINGANCRIMSONZ. To sum it up quickly, they’re a complete mess. They do their usual intro and then Trichronika’s commercial plays and after that we see Rom stirred up because of that. I also wondered why Trichronika’s commercial played, but it was funny to see Rom’s reaction given his rocky relationship with Shuzo. So with him being irritated with the commercial, he’s also irritated with everything else, like Crow’s shaking leg and him being too loud. Tokiko asks them to introduce themselves and it’s a disaster. Crow yells at the camera and calls everyone cattle, Rom yells his head off but then gets embarrassed, but then just starts yelling and punching Crow, Aion seems to be nervous in front of the camera as he could barely talk, and Yaiba…was the most normal, I guess? But was interrupted, as usual.
The Crimson boys are the same, loud and dumb, just how I like them. Their program was probably the most bizarre, and Trichronika’s the most normal (or Criticrista’s). The only very major band that we saw last season that still needs to make their appearance on Tokiko’s show is Tsurezure, and compared to Cri-Cri and Trichronika’s, their program might actually be the most normal, as they are very formal and serious women. Tokiko is actually going to have a normal talk show! I’m just going to be waiting for that, and after we get them, that might be the last time we see Tokiko.
Episode 8
For this little episode, we see the making of Criticrista’s commercial of the waterpark. I guess with this episode, we were able to see Criticrista’s professional side. Really, they’re always pretty professional. Like we saw in Tokiko’s show, other than Rosia being overly cute with all that “Nyaaa Nii-san!” creepy gross shit I hate seeing with idols, they can be quite the professional, yet cute, band.
But this time we saw them in a setting that didn’t have to do with music, but with a commercial. Considering that they’re a really popular band, it’s not surprising to see how comfortable and in the know they all are about the commercial. Rosia gave her input, Jacklyn upped the costumes, Tsukino…made a new ice cream flavor, and Holmy wanted utter perfection for their photoshoot. We can see that these girls work really well together. Considering how young they are, and yes don’t forget that they’re in middle school, they’re all pretty mature. Also mature in the sense…of their bodies.
Okay really I didn’t want to get into this, but it just bugs me. I mean, Show By Rock is a show that never really has any fanservice. I mean there were tiny things like seeing the girls of Plasmagica in night gowns, but the one mostly getting hot and bothered was Retoree. But the girls of Criticrista are middle schoolers, in the age range of 12-14. They’re shown off in bikinis and stuff, and the girls are pretty developed. Which doesn’t mean to say it’s not realistic since every girl develops at different ages, some hitting that stage in life at a young age, like me. But did a middle school band really have to wear bikinis? Couldn’t they wear a bathing suit more suitable for their age? One piece suits are cute too! Or switch the bikini top with a top that completely hides the breasts. You know? I mean, Rosia wearing a shirt that has an opening on her chest is annoying enough.
But Show By Rock is actually really tame with this, which is why I’m keeping this rant short. In their mobile game, the artwork on the cards are very normal and cute. By the way, I’m playing the game on my phone again after their large update. It’s so much easier to play and understand, but it helps that someone made a guide. 🙂 It’s such a fun game. Talking about the game now, I haven’t played much of Criticrista’s songs in it, so maybe I should do that.
