I’ve already made my opinions clear about how I feel about Yukako. I don’t like her. Everyone talks about her like she’s the best and I’m over here like, ummm…Reimi??? Anyway, this episode was dedicated to Yukako and how this episode was basically the Jojo version of the famous fairytale, Cinderella.
Now I’ll admit, when I read these chapters in the manga, I didn’t like them at all. It actually wasn’t because of Yukako, but because of the absurdity of it all. Koichi falling in love with Yukako all of a sudden is bullshit. This bitch almost kidnapped him, almost killed him, but Koichi is too pure and he basically forgives her for all of that and wants to get along with her after seeing how depressed she was when walking by the cafe where he was. I just didn’t understand and I never will because just a couple episodes ago we saw Koichi run away from fear when he spotted Yukako stalking him. He said many times that he never wanted to see her again, but then all of a sudden he fell in love with her personality or something. What? Since when? We never saw Koichi think of Yukako in at least a friendly way until now, and then all of a sudden he falls in love with her, and then they kiss. It just feels so empty. Was it the affect of Cinderella? At first I thought, but when he said he wanted Aya to stab his eyes blind so he wouldn’t be able to see Yukako’s face if he had messed up proved…oh, he’s serious.
Um
Ok
Just like Tonio, Aya isn’t an evil Stand user. She uses her Stand to make others happy, by changing their appearance and making others fall in love with them. I have mixed feelings about all that. There’s nothing wrong with getting makeovers, but to get them to make men fall for you is not the way to go. It basically says you can’t find love if you’re ugly or at least average looking, and you need to change yourself for others. But of course in the end, Koichi mentioned Yukako’s personality many times, and the reason he loves her is because of her tough personality. But again that just circles back to Koichi actually being in love with Yukako and me not believing any of it. I don’t know what else to say. I also didn’t like the chapters because of the message I was getting. Girls, don’t change yourselves for men, do it for yourself! ;_;
Just like in Cinderella, Yukako has her Fairy Godmother in Aya. Aya is a woman that’s always been fascinated by the fairy tale, but most notably with the Fairy Godmother, and with her Stand, Cinderella, she wants to make others feel happy and pretty with her Stand. I do like Aya, I think she’s interesting. Also, I did like what David Production did with this episode. They made it very fairy tale-like! They kept playing this elegant classical music throughout, something that you would hear in a Disney movie. The sparkles, the bubbly backgrounds, the bright colors, and also the way they drew certain shots, with very detailed illustrations like in a fairy tale book.
Beautiful
I’m a sucker for stuff like that, and I’m so glad David Production took the time to do all this because it really made the episode feel like something in a fairy tale, Jojo’s own fairy tale in this weird adventure. Also, Josuke and Okuyasu’s reactions to Koichi kissing Yukako was hilarious.
Most of my gripes with this episode was with the romance, which was not believable. I do give Yukako credit though. Her outfit in the end? Cute as hell, she has fashion sense. And really, the Jojo series has great female characters. But unfortunately, they’re not given the proper treatment, and this just goes back to Araki and his writing. Lisa Lisa is one of my favorite characters in Jojo, but she deserved way better than what she got, and Araki later admitted that. Being a Hamon master and getting your ass handled in a couple seconds? Bull. Erina and Suzie were only the love interests and nothing more. Yukako, I admit, is more of a character than those two. I don’t like her, I hate yanderes, but I do enjoy that she is a very tough person and doesn’t take crap from anybody. She just needs to control her emotions.
I love Jojo, but sometimes Araki has messed up in his writing, and I don’t think he did well with this romance. Actually, a fairy tale romance like this would have worked better with Jonathan and Erina because they were both so cute and corny. Catching her with his broken arm? Classic.
I don’t think Araki should write romance.
