I did mention before that I would be glad that Yagi would join in one the cooking, and I was even happier when Shinobu did as well. Even though the formula didn’t change, we had a little spice with more people involved in the cooking.
This episode Kotori’s friend finds out about the whole cooking thing with sensei. She doesn’t think it’s a big deal and she gets a little angry that Kotori never told her. But she jumps in saying that she could also help them cook and they make a date that they could all come together, like a “party”. Tsumugi hears the party and gets excited and while at school she makes invitations so people can come to the party, without asking. Kouhei points this out when he finds the invites, but he recalls a memory when Tsumugi’s friends visited their place and his wife brought them snacks and they all looked happy. So Kouhei proposes that Tsumugi invite her friends to their place instead, but on another date. But she had accidentally given Yagi one of her invites, so when the day of the cooking arrives, he shows up. But he’s invited to stay, and they all cook together. Yagi and Shinobu both have more experience in cooking, so when they took the reins the others were incredibly impressed, and they actually looked a little silly when they looked nervous. All in all, they all cooked together and made the gyoza together and it tasted delicious, and they all had fun.
I actually don’t have too much to say about this episode, but I do want to mention one thing. When Shinobu offered to come over and cook with them, Kotori didn’t look too excited. Which was weird considering she’s her friend. But it seems to her that her time cooking with Kouhei and Tsumugi, both of them cooking slowly being inexperienced, is very special to her. Shinobu could see that it was important to her, and Kotori literally said she treasures those moments. Again I’m worrying whether that was romantic or not, because when I see her next to Kouhei and how gentle and sweet she is with Tsumugi, they look like a couple. And I’m not liking that. :/
Because this’ll turn into this whole forbidden love between a grown man and a young girl. And that’s icky. I’m not for that at all. I do like her relationship with them, though. They’re so nice to watch together because they’re all having fun. But I’m still hoping that it’s not romantic and her moments with Kouhei are close-bonded family moments she lacks in her life because her mother is always away from the house. In the beginning we see her mother walking to work very early in the morning, and she tells Shinobu’s mother that she’s making Kotori go through a lot. So that tells you how distant their relationship just might be, or at least how lonely Kotori is. So, yes, I’m still sticking with Kotori enjoying their company and seeing them as a part of her family, and nothing more.
Please don’t let it go the other direction.
