After Messer’s tragic death, this episode gave both the viewers and characters some time to grieve for him. However we didn’t get to see the characters truly grieve until much later. Instead, we saw them try to distract themselves by being preoccupied in preparing and studying the enemy’s plans. Hayate however was the one who struggled with his grief the most as it was most likely his first time losing a comrade. It was when they were preparing to send off Messer’s soul back to the jellyfish off the Ragna way when they receive Messer’s flight log when they learned how much he had paid attention to each and every one of them. Captain Arad suspects Messer has always kept everyone close to his heart, but never wanted to show that, fearing they wouldn’t be able to shoot him down if he were to lose control of the Var. His flight log also highlighted his passion for flying, and how he was so detail orientated, he could tell exactly what his comrades’ bad habits and struggles were. Messer’s flight log wasn’t the only parting-gift he had left behind, but he also helped reinvigorate Kaname’s willingness to fight for the center position of Walkure. She was motivated by being reminded that there are people like Messer who holds her songs dear.
But as they grieve the loss of their dear comrade, they also must hurry to find a way to fill that void Messer had left behind. He was a major asset to the Delta Platoon and without him, they lost 37% of their efficiency. It is now a race against time as the Winderemere Kingdom have now successfully revived an excavated heritage of Protoculture, that is a massive battleship called Sigar Valens and they are not only be now lead by the King himself, but are heading straight for Al Shahal- and frankly speaking, without Walkure at the scene, nobody is going to stand a chance against the Wind Song. As we learn this, Ernest has also discovered Winderemere’s motivation behind locating the Protoculture Ruins. The ruins play a roll in protecting the cluster of planets that do not have any ruins. If Winderemere were to take out these major ruins such as Al Shahal and Ragna, it would put 8 billion inhabitants within the cluster under mind control via the Wind Song. (I still don’t get how they put “freeing the galaxy” and “brainwashing” together, it doesn’t work that way!).
There is quite an intense and difficult battle coming for them, but one has to wonder, with so little time to perfect their training and find replacements and reinforcements, how on Earth are they going to put up a fight against the revived Protoculture, Sigar Valens?!?!?!!
I almost in tears! Walkure acapella version of Giraffe Blue is so good
