After the dragons drop off Shun and the others, the Ignauts head onwards to the next stage of their journey. Alicia is still showing some regret over what happened to her father’s spirit, and she doesn’t know what to do about Emilio’s quest to kill the king.
Once the sun goes down, the Ignauts sit around a fire at their campsite and check out their location on a map. They’re finally getting close to Babylon; the question is whether King Delzaine has beat them to the finish line or not. Suddenly Eljuia has a premonition and falls unconscious. When he wakes up, he conveys the ominous feelings he felt surrounding some upcoming events. He warns that they may end up being “terrible beyond belief.”
At King Delzine’s makeshift court, he’s being briefed by an egotistical scientist on the status of restoring Babel. The scientist says that he and his team know how to restore Babel, but they just need a little more time to make some final adjustments. Delzaine isn’t worried. He’s not telling anyone his secret motivations for restoring Babel however.
Just then his four Zoozian lackeys return, and Delzaine is not happy to see that Ibelda, the lion-creature, disobeyed his orders to only observe Emilio and the others. Ibelda’s pissed at being told what to do, but he refrains from opening his mouth. After the four leave, they receive some communications from a purple bird. Where is the bird coming from? How does it know about the Ignauts?? Wait a minute…!
Elsewhere Pascal is continuing his research with the ginger scientist. They discuss the decrease of Warp Particle in Endora, and there’s mention of results coming in the next day or two. Later in the episode once the new data arrives, Pascal learns that Warp Particles are indeed decreasing all throughout Endora. Well shit. It turns out if this trend continues, Endora itself will come to an end. Pascal and the ginger scientist notice that the levels of particles started decreasing when Delzaine took over the throne, and they wonder if there’s a connection. Pascal says he must head to Babylon immediately, and his scientist assistant decides to fly them there in his super sporty red airship. ;D It actually looks pretty cool.
Back at the Ignauts’ camp, Shun and Emilio have a brief conversation before they go to bed. Emilio continues to be rude and insist that Shun doesn’t have to worry about their problems because they’re Endora’s problems, and he’s from the surface. Heaven forbid he give a shit about anyone else besides trying to get home.
In another tent, Alicia can’t sleep because she’s too worried about Emilio’s plan to get his revenge. Louise comes back at the end of her watch shift and tries to get Alicia to open up to her, but the young girl gently rebuffs her efforts and rolls over to try to sleep. Hmm.
In the morning the Ignauts receive a visit from one of their comrades who left after their camp was previously attacked by Delzaine’s Zoozian henchmen several episodes back. This unnamed man says that many lords are willing to lend their support to the Ignauts, which means that they’ll have more soldiers at their disposal. The young man leaves, and tells Demetrio that if things go back to call for him, and he and their other supporters will return immediately.
While Demetrio, Shun and Emilio were busy with the unnamed supporter, Louise was… Louise is a traitor! She’s the one communicating with Delzaine’s Zoozian crew. Booo! She blames her actions on being Zoozian and says that it’s the “only way she knows how to live,” but that’s bullshit. All she’s doing is making the situation more complicated by indirectly helping Delzaine. The question is how much of this information Delzaine’s crew will report to him, and how much they’ll keep to themselves.
Shun and Alicia have a confrontation with Emilio over his plan to kill the king, and it ends with Shun punching Emilio because Emilio is still insisting that Shun is an outsider and Endora’s problems supposedly don’t matter to him. Shun reminds Emilio of what happened to Alicia’s father, and says that Emilio needs to be careful or else his hatred for Delzaine will trap his spirit inside a Warp Relic too.
As the Ignauts continue their travels together, Shun and Emilio are stuck together yet again. Emilio reluctantly apologizes for what he said to Shun, and Shun apologies for hitting Emilio. What’s this, a little progress? Nah, say it isn’t so! /end sarcasm Emilio reaffirms his plan to kill the king, but before Shun can say anything, Demetrio announces that Babylon is in sight. It’s coming down to do or die. Which will Emilio choose? And why does Delzaine want to go to the surface so badly?
My thoughts: It sounds like, between Pascal’s Warp Particles research and Eljuia’s premonition, that Endora itself may be coming to an end if the slow bleed or Warp Particles isn’t stopped. I’m curious whether there really is a link between King Delzaine assuming the throne and the decrease in the number of Warp Particles in Endora.
For all the whining I’ve done about Endride, whether it be the graphics or the characters, I think the show’s lore is what interests me the most. But I’ll take what I can get.
I’m curious about Delzaine’s motivations. Has he been to the surface before? Is he from the surface? Is he trying to destroy Endora??
