Well here it is, the requisite beach episode of the season. Overall it was more lighthearted comedy than a serious plot-based episode, and hot damn was it ever funny!
The first half of the episode revolves around Hayato and the gang having fun in the sun, enjoying lunch together, playing in the water and then facing off in a two-versus-two game of volleyball. Emilia can’t do much when it comes to the water because she has to be covered up, so that leaves Sakura and Claire to take care of hitting on Hayato. Who is not wearing a speedo, dammit. *snaps fingers*

Well, you’re making progress Hundred, but keep trying!
As the game of power volleyball is ongoing, Claire’s older brother Judar suddenly shows up in a Warslarn helicopter to meet Hayato and the other Slayers from Little Garden. He leaves, taking Claire with him. Later back at Little Garden, Claire summons Hayato, Emile, Latia and Fritz to her office to brief them on an upcoming operation. Also, Fritz and Latia have been admitted into Selections.
After leaving the meeting, Judar sneaks up on Hayato and asks him to follow him. Judar takes Hayato down into the depths of Little Garden to show him how the ship is really powered. It turns out LiZA is not just a computer program, but is a real person. She’s also the first official Slayer and Variant, so I’m assuming that’s what makes her so supremely powerful. Oh and did I mention she’s also Claire and Judar’s sister?
Claire shows up to hold Judar at gunpoint, but he insists that Hayato needed to see LiZA so that he would know Little Garden holds something (someone, as Claire corrects him angrily) so powerful which needs to be protected. Judar talks Hayato into touching LiZA’s crystal cocoon in an effort to wake her, but it fails. Or at least it appears to. Judar was mumbling earlier about Hayato having divine blood, so I wouldn’t be surprised if something happens here that isn’t revealed
until later.
Judar says he wants to capture Vitaly, who he has a past with, and that he wants to talk to her Hunters. I’m assuming that’s the yellow-eyed sibling trio we’ve been introduced to already. He leaves rather abruptly, and Hayato and Claire head back upstairs. She orders him to keep secret, and he agrees.
Later on Claire briefs the group on their newest operation. They’re flying to the Empire of Quin, near Tian Quan City. There are 50 Savages in the area, plus there’s the risk of running into the Hunters. It’s also a U.N. mission, so there will be other peacekeepers and soldiers around.
As their team moves to reconvene in a base camp tent, Emilia is ambushed by a spunky girl who’s calling her “Princess Emilia”. Claudia Loetty is her name, and she’s a Slayer as well. She’
s come because she knew Emilia would be arriving, and Claudia wants to convince her to return to Gudenburg. Emilia is third in line for the throne, but living outside Gudenburg allows Emilia freedoms she would never have if she lived with her royal family, so naturally she’s refusing to return to Gudenburg for any reason.
Claudia is also madly in love with Emilia, and fiercely jealous of Hayato. Claudia challenges Hayato to a Hundred-less duel, and the winner gets to “have” Emilia. Naturally Hayato wins, and Claudia is crushed. Claudia’s dialogue during the entire dojo scene is pretty priceless.
That night Emilia and Hayato go walking around Tian Quan City, and they are completely oblivious to the fact that the Hunters are already there… and they’re being watched.
My thoughts: You know what my favourite part was? The subtitles for like two-thirds of the episode, during the beach and duel scenes. Emilia being pissed off at all the girls pawing at Hayato was fucking HILARIOUS, and she was just having none of it. The scene with Erica and Liddy virtually coming to blows over wanting to oil down Claire’s naked front was also pretty funny. Fuck it, this episode just had fanservice everywhere. And. It. Was. Awesome.
I don’t trust Judar at all. He’s kinda creepy and just gives off a real slimy vibe. He is part of Warslarn after all. Oh, and Vitaly is a woman apparently??
Lastly check out the new closing theme song! ^_^v I think it’s catchy.

If I were Hayato, and Sakura asked me how she looked in her swim suit I would have honestly went “….so what’s the difference from what you normally wear?…..Heeeeeyyyooooo~!!!!!” But man, shame it was just Fritz (with an oddly drawn…butt. I think the animators are too use to drawing girls because in that scene with him running in the water they gave him those exaggerated female hips lol). Come on, if Takashi could get himself in a speedo (and those random boots just for kink?) in the HOTD OVA then Hayato could have….man I’m too fixed on this whole speedo thing. Anyways~
Emilia was a riot this ep just like you said, with her reactions to the girls (mainly Sakura) flirting with Hayato. I actually laughed when Emilia was all like “lol, naw. You two only have known each other for a day. You’re not childhood friends” to her.
I’m honestly not much of a shipper but if I were going it would honestly be on the Emilia x Hayato team….maybe Claire. Sakura is too clingy for my taste.
I loved the new ed, best B-couple (or at least childhood friends), and rock-attire does Fritz justice. Like damn!
LOL I think I’m team Emilia x Hayato too. Sakura’s too clingy and Claire’s too abrasive for my liking. But I lol’d at Emilia in this episode too, especially with her line to Claire about Claire’s boobs falling out of her practically non-existent bikini top, and then Claire being all offended about it.
Man I love this show good review as always I look forward to seeing the fight with the hunters next week I hope we can see this divine blood in action I think it may give him a form beyond his variant

Of course Dr Vitaly will be a girl, it would’nt be a harem anime otherwise. Same thing if it were a reverse harem, Vitaly’d be a hot (but evil/crazy) dude.
