Oh darn it. I called Andou my fave but now she ruined everything. I believed in you, why did you betray me?
Honestly, I didn’t really like how they handled everything. Yes, Andou is very important to the team because she’s the programmer. Without the programmer, they have no game because none of them know how to program. Finding another person to join their team would be difficult with how far behind they are on their schedule. So I understand they needed to get Andou back. But…ugh! I didn’t like it!
I know Andou is a person that wants things to be her way, but she was outright rude, selfish, and inconsiderate of her team members. And honestly I’m just so surprised at how tame their reactions were! Kuroda was the only one that expressed anger, but since this is Kuroda we’re talking about, she didn’t change her facial expression or raise her voice. But she also didn’t have a problem with Andou being gone, but she always had problems with Andou since the beginning. But I wanted everyone else to show some anger towards her, because she deserved to be yelled at! I mean come on!
So what did Andou do? Well, after the team got the music and backgrounds for their game, Andou got the codes and whipped up a little preview of what everything would look like in their full game, utilizing the music, backgrounds, text, and character sprites. Except Bunta noticed something immediately. One of the lines of text wasn’t something he didn’t remember writing. It was a strange line, and there were more of them. And they all realized, someone changed the script. Bunta did make changes to his script, but these weren’t it. And there was only one person who could have done this…of course it was Andou. She said she made the script sound better by fixing the spelling errors and changing some phrases. She doesn’t give an exact amount she changed, so that’s a huge problem.
So, 1#, she changed the script all by herself. What the fuck? Personally, as a writer myself, I would be furious if someone changed my writing. She claims that the way she fixed it it’s better but that’s not the point. If you really did have some problems with the script, TALK IT OUT WITH THE WRITER. Don’t just change their work behind their back without a heads up. It shows a complete lack of respect. Someone worked hard writing that script, so for you to just change it to whatever you like, it’s not even Bunta’s script anymore, it’s Andou’s. Kuroda brought up a good point. However the writing is, if people don’t like it it’ll all be on Bunta even though it was Andou making the changes. He’s the one getting the bad rep for Andou’s mistakes. And that is fucking rude. Bunta had a surprised look on his face when he learned these facts, but I’m upset at him for not getting angry at her because I definitely would. But…Bunta isn’t me. But honestly, rude.
#2, she also made changes to the art. She complained there weren’t enough expressions on the characters and said the game would be better if the girls would have more expressions. She did ask Yuuki if she could handle it, and Yuuki said it wouldn’t be a problem. But obviously it was because Yuuki needed Bunta to voice out her issues with her workload. With being really behind, to have to do more work with the stuff that she already has, Yuuki is going to burn out. Which Andou doesn’t seem to realize…only ONE person is handling the art. One. Just a regular high school girl handling all of the art, she can only do so much on the time Kuroda has given them. True, more expressions would be nice, but they’re a tiny team of six, there’s only so much they can do.
Last but not least, #3, which I think was the icing on this frustrating cake…Andou hasn’t even started on the team’s webpage yet. And she volunteered to make it, but she hasn’t done a thing. So on top of changing the game without the other team member’s permission, she hasn’t even done her own work. Holy crap. I thought at that point someone would blow up at her, but none did. But they were dumbfounded. It was then they realized just how far behind they really were, and just shocked Andou would do all this.
Kuroda telling her off, Andou quits and leaves…again. But then Bunta goes after her…again…and begs her to come back…again. But this time this involved a weirdly intense fishing trip. But then Bunta convinces her, she agrees to return, and then all is well as she immediately starts on the website and promising she’ll make up for all the time she wasted.
If we’re supposed to feel happy with the conclusion, I’m not. Other than the characters not getting angry at her, which they had a right to, I did not like how happy the ending was. Because Andou never apologized. She never apologized for messing with Bunta’s script, she never apologized for giving Yuuki unnecessary work, and she never apologized for not working on the team’s website. She shows rudeness and selflishness in her actions but the anime decides to brush it off because we have stuff to do! But it’s not right. None of this felt right to me and it was frustrating to watch. This episode really wasn’t the best, and it looks like next week we’ll be getting the typical beach episode. Ugh…I believed in you, Andou, how could you hurt me like this?
Yeah I wasn’t happy with the conclusion either. I am very irritated with her. I had actually hoped no one was going to go after her, and tell her off real good, but no one did. :\ I wish the consequences of her actions were more dire for her and the team moved on without her- forcing her to self-reflect on herself (not that I expect she would).
I hope they go back to Bunta’s script because that was really unfair and terrible of her to do that without talking with him first. I would be livid too if that had happened to me, I would have NONE of it.
It certainly begs the question of how they plan to have a convincing character development for her, because right now- she’s basically getting a free pass, and I don’t consider that a lesson learned development.
UGH I WANTED ONE OF THEM TO YELL AT HER SO BADLY. At least Kuroda got mad, but we’re never gonna get much out of his Kuudere. >:[
Yes, self-reflection would have been good. It would have been ideal. Because she never learned anything. Seeing as how she never apologized just shows that she truly didn’t learn what she did was wrong. Like you said, she’s getting a free pass and I don’t like it at all. I’m actually not too surprised she did this after pushing Kuroda to change the game into a BL because that’s what SHE likes. But she already knew what she was getting herself into so she should never have expected a BL. But to change a person’s work in secret…is just plain awful.
Mmm…she said she changed the script “all over the place” so I don’t know. I am just betrayed. She’s not best girl no more. Now I don’t have a fave anymore. Grr.
