Here we go, Prince of Stride episode 7, this week, the fan service episode aka ” Joint training”

Reiji was the best part of the episode
The Exam period is over, summer is coming. Since the End of Summer Tournament is starting soon, they have to train more than ever. Therefore, their teacher announces: “Konichiwa bitches, today, Joint training with the Sassy team Saisei.” So they all go to the Sassy Saisei school which has an entire building dedicated to Stride. They have climbing walls, bikes, parkour parks and even bouncy balls. I mean… come on guys.. bouncy balls? Can you do more fun than bouncy balls? I think not. They decide on having a practice match in their parkour park. They pair up and because “One shall not destroy the ship”, they keep the same pairing as last time.
The Saisei relationner gives tips to Nana: “You have to listen to the runners breathing and then you’ll be able to understand their feelings”. Yeeeeah, in other words, connecting feelings right? I don’t really know why but the way he listens to them breathing looks creepy to me. He was standing there, listening to Reiji’s heavy breathing and saying ” mmmhh you seem to be enjoying this Reiji”. Maybe it’s just me but… everything they say sound gay. If this show turned out to be some kind of sports yaoi I wouldn’t be surprised…
Anyway, Honan loses the match but nobody cares anymore. Then, they use the training bicycles and all the other kinky stuff of the school to train. Although Saisei might have impressive equipment, their training is quite impressive too. For example, their relationner, the pink ponytail dude, is watching them, telling them that they are not allowed to drink more than 300ml of water… Same with the food, there is a whole scene where they are counting calories and proteins per ingredients. Wow, they have such a strict diet, they should chill a bit, they are only high school students right ? Also, they tend to put protein everywhere. Takeru and Reiji even have a talk about Takeru’s protein powder which has a nice taste… Oh and the protein’s brand name is Mucho Macho. This is probably the funniest thing that happened in this anime since the beginning. I-I-I… fabulous… I can’t believe it … Mucho Macho…
After dinner, they have an eating contest, then a ping pong match, then karaoke… Nothing spectacular happened so I’ll spare you the details. Then, they have freaking fireworks. Yeah, seems legit. There’s no fan service episode without fireworks. After the ping pong match, the karaoke, the food contest and barbecue let’s have some motherfucking hanabi, I mean pfff, do we actually care about stereotypes? As long as they don’t start taking their shirts off to swim free and to play shirtless together in the sea, it’s okay.

Also, Takeru is remembering something from his past. Apparently he knew Nana and Riku when they were kids. Takeru seems to be the only one to remember that though. Now, I’m confused. I’m confused but I don’t really care… Strange right ?
It’s time to leave the sassy school. The Takeru X Reiji ship gets stronger and stronger when Reiji offers him a creepy cow T-shirt and shows him that he is wearing the same in pink. Yeaaah matching clothes, that’s a Japanese couple thing if I’m not mistaken. Somebody will have to explain me the thing about the creepy cow though. Did I miss something? Since when the cow stuff is important? Is it really important? Why do they like this creepy cow? Where does it come from? Why do they care about this cow? And more importantly: WHY DO I CARE ABOUT THIS COW? I-I–I can’t do this anymore… this cow is going to be the end of me I swear…
Ok, now that I took my Prozac, let’s go back to business. Nothing can go wrong now, I mean, we had all the fan service stuff, now let’s end this nicely and quickly. Nothing can go wrong except if Reiji starts saying some creepy gay stuff to Takeru for the sake of the ship…

I get the feeling that Madhouse isn’t even trying to make this anime a good one now. This episode was a good opportunity for us to learn more about Saisei buuut… what did we learn? They are freaking rich and have a extreme diet…Voilà… Yeah, I think everybody has guessed by now that character development sucks in this anime. Not that I did expect them to develop characters in the Saisei team since, u know, the Honan guys are practically strangers to us. But I’m still wondering, why are they keeping the Riku’s brother drama for the end? Is this brother drama the actual plot of the anime? Why are they throwing new stuff at our faces out of the blue? Like, now, Riku, Takeru and Nana have met before? Since when? Why did you have to wait 7 episodes to tell us that? This has nothing to do with the rest of the … god dammit.
Next week, Riku’s brother finally arrives. I wonder if we are finally going to get some answers, but I won’t bet on it. My guess is: another not thrilling race against the dick team. Riku’s brother being mysterious and leaving without giving any responses in order to go back listening to my chemical romance and writing black poetry cuz he’s an emo ( he has the perfect hair for that).
I’m done for this week. I’m tired…
