Ahh…poor Kei. It really isn’t his fault. He was just living a normal life and all of a sudden he’s being hunted down with a 100 million yen bounty for his capture. It made me really mad to see Kei’s so called “friends” standing in front of his house disappointed that they couldn’t claim the money. And now they don’t know what to do because they used Kei to help with their physics and honestly I wanted to punch their ugly faces. At least one of the guys looked either spooked or felt pity for Kei, I don’t know.
To basically sum up this episode, it was a game of cat and mouse. Kai and Kei (that’s going to be annoying to say together) ride off away from their homes and Kai reassures that they’ll be alright, not everyone has seen the news. But unknown to them, the police in the nearby prefectures have been called to assemble a large search team for Kei. But as of right then, they were fine. They stopped to get gas for Kai motorcycle, and the boys have a nice talk and Kai cheers up Kei. Though I do question why Kai was so calm about this whole Ajin thing, like he was prepared for all of this happening like he knew it was going to happen. There’s more to him than we know right now, so I want to see if Kai is an Ajin himself or he’s working for some group studying them. I hope he won’t turn on Kei.
Most of this episode was these two men in a white van recognizing Kei at the gas station and chasing after him. These guys obviously weren’t good as they had a kidnapped girl tied in the back of their van who they were probably going to rape. So seeing Kei’s Ajin unconsciously kill them was fantastic and I didn’t care. But it was also worrying because Kei didn’t realize what he had done. From what little we know, Ajin are harmless if they’re a normal one, according to the pretty lady working with the tall silver-haired man. Obviously Kei doesn’t look like a normal one and he does pose to be a threat as his black figure (is that the Ajin?) stopped the men at the train tracks and had the train smash into them. Leaving them free and safe…for now.
While all of this is happening, the tall silver-haired man that has a weird addiction to mints calls for tranquilizer guns to be brought over to hunt for Kei. Like an animal. At the hospital, Kei’s little sister was questioned but she didn’t know anything about him being an Ajin. And we learn in the end that his mother ended questioning but Mr. Megane goes in to his house to talk to her, which we’ll see next time. And I’m really curious to know how his mother is feeling about all of this. Ironic that she told him to be a better human being, and it turns out he never was a human. If I don’t see her falling on her knees with tears on her face, I’m just going to go ahead and not give a crap about her because the little that we saw of her in the first episode showed that she wasn’t the most loving of mothers.
I’m not sure what’s going to happen next, the boys are still going to be on the run and they’re going to be sought after. This episode was nice, I just wonder what’s going to happen next. I just want to say that it’s always such a delight to hear Mamoru Miyano in more serious roles. He pulls off energetic bishounen idols well, and those are the roles I hear him mostly as with the crap that I watch (*stares at Prince of Stride*), but it’s SO nice to hear him in roles like this because you remember that he can pull off different types of characters. I love hearing him as characters in situations like these. Just…any character that isn’t happy and bubbly, basically. Also, his song for the ED is great. He’s so great.
I’ve really gotten used to the CGI animation, I know people are still bitching about it. Funny, though, that the vehicle animations are smooth but the moving animation for the people are a little…clunky. Still, it’s watchable and I like the story so far. Music was great too! Let’s see which direction things will go.
Okay so after watching the first episode, I found out that Ajin actually has a movie out. And what they’re doing is taking scenes from the movie and using them as episodes for the TV show. And I know that two more movies are supposed to come out, and I think whatever the movie shows they’ll use as episodes for the TV show? I’m a little fuzzy on this, and I have no idea why they’re doing this or what the point of this is when they’re both the exact same thing. Knowing this, it sounds better to just review the movies and just stop reviewing the TV show.
I check again and apparently the second movie is supposed to come out in May, way after when the anime is supposed to finish. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON??? I don’t know if I should just…stop, and wait for the movies. Or something, I don’t know. I put this review out, so I’m just deciding if I should continue next week. What do you guys think?
Also, it’s really hard finding subs for this. And the ones I do find don’t have the best grammar. C’mon guys, why are you making this so tough for me? :/
