After a streak of infuriating episodes, the writing team are all making it worth the while with the direction they are taking the development (starting with last week’s episode). There were three major highlights, and one of them is for bias reasons, but first let’s take a moment to appreciate the precious reunion and tag-team battle with Sora and Yuzu. THE FUSION WOMBO-COMBO WAS AWESOME! Also that soft look on Sora’s face, UGH THE FEELS, NOW THAT IS HIS TRUE FACE. We don’t get to see it often, but that’s him wearing his heart on his sleeve, I know it.
It was touching moment to see Sora and Yuzu tag-team together, Sora taking the initiative to turn this hot pursuit duel into a brief showing which had actually entranced many of the officers. And I was laughing because it felt so bizarre and out of place considering the circumstances they were in, and not to mention, the music transition was so abrupt it just, it was so strange but also sweet. From their precious high-fives, to Yuzu proudly boasting about Sora being her mentor to the kids, it was super sweet to watch.
As you know, I have been very reluctant to trust Sora because I couldn’t identify where his true sanity loyalties lies. But now I can finally trust him for a different reason. No matter what- 
or at least until he is ready to make the major transition- Sora will remain loyal to Academia and continue to serve as one of their many warriors they have been trained and raised to be. But at the same time, Sora values his irreplaceable friendship with Yuzu and Yuuya, more than his respective duties as an Academia soldier. By doing so, he has put himself in the middle. But the thing is, he is basically betraying Academia by protecting Yuzu from them and others. If Academia were to find out, he will never be able to go back. We know Sora fears of the consequences, that is why he doesn’t want to outright announce cutting his ties with Academia, but what he is doing right now, is far more dangerous than simply just walking away. I think Yuzu understands this because she asked him to confirm (multiple times) whether or not he had truly cut his ties. But more than that, I think she wanted to make sure he knew exactly what he was doing, and know there is no turning back.
Furthermore, when Tsukikage appeared at the scene, filled with fury and hunger for revenge for his brother who Sora had carded, Yuzu took Sora’s side immediately, trying to persuade Tsukikage that Sora is a friend, not an enemy (again asking him to confirm he is no longer affiliated with Academia). But she struck a cord when she told him, “You don’t’ need to make anymore people sad by doing the Professor’s work!” At the time, Sora was ready to fight Tsukikage, but after he heard that, Sora’s actions surprised me. 
He stepped down from the initiation of the fight, apologized to Tsukikage for his actions, acknowledging his words will simply not settle it and then make the offer of: if Tsukikage is not satisfied with the apology, then he can do whatever he wants with him, but only after he fulfills Yuuya’s promise to protect Yuzu. And what follows was beautiful, because it highlights how much he values their friendship. He takes it upon himself to be the one to rescue Yuuya in Yuzu’s stead and asks Tsukikage to hide Yuzu somewhere safe until then. Once he saves Yuuya and have them reunite, he will then return to Tsukikage. I believe Tsukikage recognized the genuine intention. He is one of the few characters who I have a lot of faith in their ability to make a judgement. This was no easy matter, he was face to face with the one who carded his brother, but he too stepped down from the fight and accepted the conditions Sora had offered to him.
But let me say just one thing: the only thing that is bothering me in the back of my mind right now, is the concern that while Yuzu and Yuuya are clearly safe from Sora’s duties as an Academia soldier, that doesn’t include Tsukikage and I pray- either they won’t fight and Sora will be surprised by his willingness to forgive, or it turns for the worse and Sora sticks true to his word of being an Academia Warrior and enters the duel with the intention to take Tsukikage down and carded as well. That is my ONLY fear, but hopefully it will never get to that point- making it so Academia would be (in a way) their saving grace of labeling Sora as a traitor and kicking him out for it which will then relieve him from those horrible duties. But of course they will not let him go unpunished.
Talk about raising the stakes. The writers got us real good when they dropped the bomb of how Jean-Rogers decided he is going to use Yuuya by installing a mind-control device on him, just like he has done to Sergey. Holy fucking shit. This changes everything. He intends to have Yuuya under his complete control before his match against Crow. I swear to god, if they so much as lay a finger on him…
I mean, let’s be honest here: I suspect the majority of us forgot about the mind-control thing- and I can tell you I certainly did. With so much shit happening, it was easy to be overshadowed and forgotten altogether. This also points a concern towards Selena, because now Jean-Rogers wants to turn her into the Star of Hope for the Synchro Realm- well actually we already knew that but anyways… The point is, there is no fucking way Selena will cooperate with that, and if she shows resistance, Jean-Rogers is going to put her through that mind-control operation as well, and with that he will have all his pieces he claims he needs to attain victory.
With her much anticipated duel next week against Yuugo I am very excited, but more so (besides the fact the preview implies it’s going to be a fun and dorky one – Yuugo likely to compare Selena to Rin or Yuzu) becayse they both have something at stake, and they don’t even know it. In fact, if Selena were lose, the worse case scenario would be Jean-Rogers shifting his attention to make Yuugo his “Star of Hope” (but I don’t think he wants that since he doesn’t like the commons to begin with), which would also be bad, so there’s really a no win-win situation here unless they can ensure they stay out of his clutches.
Finally, let’s all take moment to appreciate the fact the kids have received their second lesson from Sora and Yuzu.
Lesson #2: The Threat of Academia is very real.
In this week’s lessons, the kids continued to connect the dots as Sora and Yuzu argue about Academia. They recall Yuzu’s first attempt to warn everyone about this dangerous organization who threatens to invade their realm while she was roaming the city with Yuugo. Looks at these kids being enlightened by all this crucial information, is such a beautiful thing. That’s character development for ya, for minor characters I couldn’t stand. (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:・ﾟ✧.
Random Note of the Week: FIERCE FACED YUZU IS THE BEST THING EVER! BOW DOWN TO YOUR QUEEN!
Yuzu is just the best thing ever! Even when cornered and surrounded by security all around, she doesn’t act like a damsel in distress crying for a knight to save her. She assesses her surroundings and tries to get out of it her own way! And she isn’t just constantly worried, she wants to go out and help Yuya, she wants to ascertain that Sora is on her side!
That is how a queen acts!!
And the way she teamed up with Sora and how her and his monsters did a dance together killing all of the enemies was magical and just so perfect so is the student-teacher friendship they have!
I am so fucking frightened for Yuya! Just the mere mention of the fact that he has to go through surgery to have Jean install and mind controlling device in him is so fucking scary! If i was in there i would claw Jean’s face off if he lay so much as a breath on Yuya!!
It seems like Sora is going to save him tho. I really hope they dont get to drill in his head and then Sora has to bring him back by dueling him or something!
It’s kind of funny you’d think this’d make Yuya the so-called ‘damsel’ if you had to have one (Yuzu thankfully is not, and Selena is the furthest from one)… but he isn’t, no one is! They’re all strong, independent characters with their own flaws and strengths! They all feel human put in distressful situations that we’d all react in the same way pretty much! This is such brilliant writing!!
Sora is going to make the eventual transition into the lancers i believe, he will probably help them all infiltrate academia at one point.
As for the duel between Selena and Yugo, i was initially not looking forward to it because it seemed very likely that Yugo will win by plot armour.
Selena is my Goddess! I hated that notion that the most kickass female duelist would lose to plot armour!
But it actually seems as if they might both have a chance and it will actually be a funny and quite suspenseful duel! Even if Yugo does win by plot armour standards as long as the duel is good and shows Selena’s skills off then i’ll be satisfied!
I’m freaking terrified for Yuuya too, I can’t bear the idea of him being forced into that operation. HURRY SORA! YOU MUST SAVE HIM!!!! OR YUUYA, BREAK YOURSELF OUT BEFORE THEN PLEASE. *SOBS*
The writers for this series are so good, this is an embodiment the ultimate ideal story and character: where every character have their own strength, flaws which take time to change or will never change, and yes- most importantly: Human. It is going to be REAL tough to top this YGO series because they’ve been hitting the ball out of the park for a while now.
I look forward to Yuugo being a dork around Selena, “RINNNNNNN” or “YUZUUUUU!” LMAO, “YUZU IN HEAVEN” IN THE PREVIEW *CRYING* I CANNOT, YUUGO YOU PRECIOUS DORK.

Yugo’s a lovable idiot! A moral and gorgeous one! I will love his and Yuya’s duel!! They’re honestly probably aiming for the final matchup to be Yugo and Yuya and then have their dragons resonate with each other… wait this seems weirdly familiar *thinks back to Jack and Yusei duel*… But i’m SURE they won’t go down that route again! *whispers* please writers, don’t copy from your previously good 5ds series!
For me it’s more cruel than when they put that chip on Yusei because Yuya is a 14 year old boy! A child! and Yusei was an adult… So it’s more scary partially because of Yuya’s age and the procedure he’s going to go through is worse than just having a tracking mark put on your cheek. I wonder if his age was the reason that Jean thought he could persuade Yuya to joining him…?
If it happens i’m going to need a mega hug! I DON’T WANT YUYA TO HAVE THAT OPERATION! SORA!! SAVE MY YUYA-BABY!!!
It probably won’t happen but if the brainwashing does happen that makes Yuya suffer even more; not only it will likely cause more misunderstanding with Crow, have the people in City hate Yuya even more(if possible) but will a huge factor into Yuya vs Yugo if that’s in the final round before facing Jack. This could also have his Bereserk state take into play especially with Yuya stated to have three souls in him(including Yuto).
If they do brainwash him, it just tells us the writers ENJOY torturing Yuuya.
Oh god, I don’t want to even think of Yuugo being merged with Yuuya- we missed Yuuto so much, we don’t need to lose out on another precious puppy! ; ____ ; But brainwash + beserker state = absolute chaos.
I thought of it being pretty rare in YGO they make a protagonist like Yuya go through a ton of shit like this(especially since arriving in Synchro), if they had Yuma as protagonist they’d instantly make him seem always right with no explanation whatsoever that can be super annoying for me is what made Yuya my genuine favorite so far. Also from a different shot of the picture with the surgical Doctor it showed all types of stuff used for Sergey including a knife which begs the question how messed up are they will to be to a FREAKING FOURTEEN YEAR (apologize for the caption but this to me is now turning even darker than before).
From the sounds of the written preview, something is going to happen during their match…..i don’t care who wins or loses at this point, I just want Serena to have a full duel!! She better use some new cards too.
Academia arriving in dramatic fashion? That would put the tournament to a screeching halt- unlikely to happen though since someone needs to go up against Jack LOL- but what a plot twist it would be if they intended to never have the tournament completed much like the one Reiji hosted in Miami City.

First of all, dat ballrom dancing, it was the cutest thing ever, Bloom Prima’s voice as she counted 1,2,3 while dancing was adorable and I swear to God that this reminded me of the Beaty & Beast from Disney, maybe because Bloom Prima wears a yellow dress lol.
“Bitch you can’t send me to the kitchen”<- Probably Yuzu when stopping Sora from sending her back to Standard, I love how Yuzu avoids hard to be iddle hahahha~ I fear no more about her relevance, she's forever Yuya's co-protagonist.
Speaking of good writing, you really can tell the writers try to take the chances to develop their characters when you compare to the Manga!Arc V writen by… Yoshida-I-Can't-Write-Girls-For-Life, because manga Yuzu was not going to duel in a situation where she had all reasons to and worst of all, it is implied that either she doesn't duel or she's not good at it.
Oh well, at least he's sealed in the manga and can't lay a finger in our cool anime ladies, thank God! Sorry, for the rant but it triggered me to see him do this with our queen.
Ahem, back to the episode, it's kind of sad yet funny that everyone will meet Yuzu before Yuya, poor tomato boy, and someone pointed that this might be Yuzu's last chance to learn Synchro Summon considering that Tokumatsu ENJOYYYYY and Gongenzaka are there and I hope they are right! The more Melodious the merrier! 😀
Tsukikage!!!!! One of the secondary nobodies that raised to the rank of one of my favorite characters during this arc! He's a bro, at first I thought he was only a mercenary force hired by Reiji but during Synchro Arc he proved that he was much more beyond that! He's very kind, selfless, professional and colected, but that does not mean he's immune to negative feelings either like when he got angry after Shinji indirectly insulting his clan and his older brother and him wanting to execute his brother's "murderer", but despite his angerness he can still listen to reason and pull them aside in order to do what's needed, I also liked how he told Yuya that he would have abandoned Reiji long ago if he was as heartless as Academia, proving that he has a moral code and isn't just a "Dog blind following his master orders" like Shinji accused him and that despite not being his obligation he being a message boy for Reira and Yuya, MAD RESPECT FOR NINJABRO, ONE FO THE KINDEST, SELFLESS, COOL AND REASONABLE CHARACTERS IN ARC V!
ALSO JEAN I SWEAR THAT IF YOU DO SOMETHING TO YUYA YOU WILL PAY IN PAIN!!!
I really hope Sora manages to rescue Yuya in time because they don't have much time left, but then again Arc V is written by Arc V writers and they are a bunch of sadists that love torturing poor Yuya, I wouldn't doubt if they decide to make Brainwashed!Yuya fight Sora OR Yuzu for maximun suffering, either way it would be very painful to watch someone as kind as Yuya to be forced to do his deeds, ow my poor heart ;w;

Apparently there’s actually some pretty good symbolism with the chess pieces connecting to characters. Sergey was originally Roger’s Knight, but he plans on making Yuya it instead and Sergey his rook. Serena is the Queen of course.
First and foremost, DAT DANCE SCENE OF MAD CHIMERA AND BLOOM PRIMA, even the Security and Goyo monsters are stunned and awed to death XD (Sorry Sora, but Yuya is still, and will always be Yuzu’s main man!)
“Academia or my friends?” Man, Sora’s potential of redemption is very HIGH, but since he still refused to renounce his allegiance to Academia, I will still be skeptical of him cuz I don’t want another Vector being pulled out. Good for Tsukikage being rational to put aside his grudge against Sora (for now) and evacuate Yuzu and Crow’s children to the underground for regrouping and sheltering since there’s no possible way to contact Reiji now (yeah and the reunion scene unfolds with everyone EXCEPT Yuya, why the writers deliberately want him to be separated from Yuzu?).
It’s set then, the upcoming matches will be “Brainwashed” Yuya vs Crow and Yugo/Serena vs SerGay, but to me it is no hype because Yuya is OBVIOUSLY gonna win and, with his image already tarnished enough for the Commons, once Crow gets beaten they’ll definitely gonna kill him, or the opposite due to the brainwashing scheme or his Berserk state? F**K OFF Jean, don’t you dare make Yuya another mercenary of yours!! Insert the brain-controlling chip, oh shit at this rate Yuya’s gonna be the villain and Yugo will be the protagonist??
Next week, OH DEAR “YUZU’S IN HEAVEN”, POOR YUGO… but then him mistaking Serena as Rin and Serena uppercutting the poor lad LMFAO XD For once, Yugo’s Yusei-based plot armor is being put to test because Roger is sowing seeds for Serena’s potential victory (the “star” shared by both the Tops and Commons 0_0) but WHO DOESN’T WANT THE CLIMATIC SHOWDOWN BETWEEN BRAINWASHED&BERSERK YUYA VS YUGO’S PLOT ARMOR??

Another additional note: Another thing Eva, I’m truly dissatisfied with how the writers have been neglecting Yugo A LOT despite the Synchro Dimension being his homeland, we’ve heard more of Yuya’s yapping than him being relevant!! Same for Yuzu, she’s being yearning for Yuya too much and Yugo? She never even mention him once for all those episodes when she’s alone by herself as if Yugo never existed!!
