I CAN’T! I AM IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTIONS!
Here is an accurate portrayal of my face and my emotions throughout the entire episode and while writing this entry:
Describing it to be so beautiful is an understatement. Not even in my wildest dream, had I ever imagined it would be Shun, of all people to be the bacon of hope. This episode was exactly what the fandom needed for the sake of our sanity, including Shun.
It was precisely because of how the hostile atmosphere of the match changed into a relaxed, friendly competition. To further emphasize this, Shun was not ashamed to have lost, making it easier for his fans like myself to accept it with no hard feelings. Better yet, Crow absolutely deserves some credit this week. First off, let me just say, the way Crow was portrayed in this episode is the Crow I know I love. The Crow who isn’t obsessed with pointing fingers, jumping to conclusions, being guarded and feeling obliged to continue Shinji’s momentum. Crow was able to identify with Shun, realizing they were two peas of a pod. They are both fighting for their people and their beloved home against each of their own enemy. And to see these two talk about their enemy, and how they support each other for each of their own battle they are facing, what a precious moment.
And that isn’t all! I never thought I would ever say this, but… Thank you Tanner, for falling off that rail. Because of this kid’s stupid decision, he helped pull Shun out of the darkness he has been trapped in for so long. Seeing the child fall, Shun immediately tried to tell to Crow to stop the duel as soon as possible because he could see the kid clinging for his dear life on Raikiri’s back. Then when the kid lost his grip, it was Shun who hopped off his D-Wheel (driving autopilot, that’s why they can’t stop) with one of his raid-raptors and caught the kid! Oh man, just writing about it makes even more emotional. If the emotions weren’t already overwhelming enough, they struck me hard when Shun told Tanner, “There were kids who would cheer for me too.” I CAN’T, I JUST CAN’T, MY FREAKING EMOTIONS. I CAN’T HAND THESE FEELINGS. I AM SOBBING OKAY!? SHUN IS MY PRECIOUS BABY, AND- HE’S REFERRING BACK TO THE KIDS IN HEARTLAND.
And it just keeps on getting better, after Crow thanks him, he even thanks Crow, because seeing Crow and those kids helped him remember what he was fighting for. Through this, these two established a unique connection, and Crow officially considers Shun as his comrade, and since Shun returned the fist-pump, it show how he too share the same sentiment.
While we are on the subject, one of the important factors we should note is: For the first time in god knows how long, Shun was not fighting as if his life depended on it, nor was he fighting in the chaotic nature which has been possessing him for as long as we remember. Today he was finally able to breathe, even just a little bit, and through that we saw the side of Shun we haven’t had the opportunity to see before. The selfless boy who cares about others, and is willing to go out of his way to protect them, showing everyone just how big of a heart he actually has.
Now the kids know Shun is not such a bad guy after all, but someone who is very much like Crow. Shun opened their minds, making it an educational progress and a step in the right direction- showing how you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. I wonder who will be the next person to deliver a lesson? If there is one that is… can there be one?
Since Crow (and the Commons) were able to see the heroic and kind side of a single and a misunderstood Lancer member like Shun, I am praying that Crow, he of all people, at the very least- will think back with a clear and unbiased mind about Yuuya as an individual. It was Shinji’s bitterness of his loss, followed by Jean’s manipulation which resulted clouding Crow’s vision. With new clarity of a victory- and if Yuuya is to be matched up against him- he now has opportunity to clear up the misunderstandings, and get a chance to learn who Yuuya truly is and who he represents.
It is also important to note how we saw Jack genuinely smile. He was proud of the results, but I think he was the most proud of seeing a good performance that wasn’t focused on dragging the other down from their haughty position or stomping them further into the dirt.
There was another special moment within this episode, and it is probably an underrated one. That moment was seeing Yuuya become inspired and more hopeful after watching Shun shine in such a brilliant light. Seeing the way Shun performed gave Yuuya the confidence to stick to his gun and outright reject Jean. However… due to rejecting his offer, Yuuya is thrown into a prison cell of a sort to be contained, while Jean alerts of his grunts of Yuzu’s location. I wonder if Yuuya will be able to break out on his own…or if he will have to wait for his turn to battle- that is if Jean would even let him…
In the mean time, Sora is catching on how there is something fishy going on consider the amount of security pursuing Yuzu. We see in the preview he will reunite with her, and it looks like we will also get the chance to see them tag-team. Here’s to hoping next week will continue to build my confidence in Sora, because I can’t help but be wary. But after listening to all the BS Jean has been sprouting, I find myself half a lot more faith in Sora than I had before. Oh, and I almost forgot: Tsukikage is going to show up too- so Sora’s loyalty will be tested. I wonder what Tsukikage’s judgement will be?
Random Note of the Week: Funny how Shun didn’t even react when he saw Yuzu. Nobody knew where she was except for Yuuya and Sora!
I hope Shun’s development sticks for good this time.
I dunno how to feel about how the development went, but Shun trying to destroy the monster where Tanner was… So, like Shun, was it a fake attack or…?
Well, I admit it was cool to see Shun saving the kid so cool, Crow felt better this episode too because he wants carrying Shinji’s dumb and blind hatred and Shun finally made a friend so Yay!
Well, Jean could use Yuya as a “Damsell in distress” for Yuzu to save, he knows how much they care for each other and exploit it.
Speaking of Yuzu, the preview was hilarious! Sora gave her his first duel disk(the disk she’s wearing in the preview is yellow with blue blade) and now their monsters are holding hands with fireworks exploding in the background, this looks like a scene straight from a romantic shoujo lmao.
Shun probably used his card effect on purpose because he knew Crow’s equipped Sky Excalibur would protect the kid. He needed to buy time and end his turn so that Crow could finally realize what was happening.
LOL Yuuya as the Damsel in Distress? NAH, he just needs to go into Beserker Mode and smash his way out. XD
I’m looking forward to Yuzu and Sora tag-teaming, I think it will be special in its own right. I can’t remember if Yuzu is aware of Sora’s crimes, besides witnessing his duel against Shun, but I think she will be take the opportunity, whenever available to share her concerns about Academia’s plot, and how it involves her and her counter parts.
THIS EP! I LOVE IT A LOT!
These recent eps have brought me nothing but anger, and by all means I can’t even imagine Shun would be the one who brings up a bonding duel again, like seriously, even Yuuya hasn’t done that yet. Such a great development for Shun, even though it is kinda late LOL.
Now this ep clearly shows the difference between Shinji and Crow, Shinji’s way is just a manifest of anger and revenge, but Crow just wants common people to stand up and get along, not drag the top down like Shinji. See people reaction after the duel ends? When Shinji’s duel ends the audiences’s face show anger but here they were smiling and said they wanna duel, they wanna do it. That is why I hate Shinji so bad.
It is a nice touch that Yuuya gets inspire from Shun, and I do hope they would interact with each other more so they can resolve the Yuuto problem inside Yuuya or sth. Jean will have to let Yuuya out for the duel anyway so I am not worried about him that much.
Maybe Shun didn’t care about Yuzu because he mistook her for Serena? LMAO
Next ep! Sora and Yuzu tag team! I believe in Sora.
Yeah it was A BREATH OF FRESH AIR to have a duel end without so much hate and anger in the crowd. I am so glad Crow and Shun were able to just have fun and let loose.
For Yuuya to see the way Shun dueled today, I think this will definitely benefit him when it comes to trying to communicate with Shun, as well as draw connections and explain to him of the promise he made with Yuuto. The question now whether or not Shun will remain as open as he is today. I am hopeful, but we don’t know how long it will be before he and Yuuya have the chance to talk.
Shun mistaking Yuzu for Selena, that is definitely possibility hahahahaha!
Compared to last week, this episode finally lived up to its birdspam hype!! Ultimate Falcon’s effect appeared to be too familiar with many of ZEXAL’s powerful monsters- “Effect Negating”, but Raidraptors is now officially my new favourite archtype with its unique Rank-Up Magics to use!! Black Feather too, that LV5 Synchro was quite OP, but here enters another LV12 Synchro that gains additional attack boost per Synchro Summons!! Crow, the awesome trick master of 5D’s finally lived up to his name as the winner of the birdspam knockout round, but kudos to Shun too, that’s a positive character development for him, seeing him duel without all those rage and hatred for once was excellent!! The way he rescued Crow’s little boy was badass as hell! Tons of tension were cast aside for this birdspam match, and the winner: CROW HOGAN-SAMA!!!! P.S Nice to see Jack chuckle about Crow’s victory XD
Credits to Yuya also, him shoving back at Roger proved that he’s not foolish enough to buy his words, but next week Yuzu are tagging with Sora to kick Security ass, only to encounter Tsukikage afterwards? Oops, looks like the old vendetta of Hikage being carded is about to boil again……
One additional note: Yuzu’s recovery was too INCREDIBLE considering how she got slammed to death by SerGay before, plot armour huh??
Whichever company made that armor, will be rich if they aren’t already once everyone knows she is well alive and kicking 😛
THIS ENTIRE EPISODE HAD ME CRYING JOYOUS TEARS.
I seriously was so annoyed when Tanner vanished and showed up on Raikari, I thought it was going to be a repeat of Crow hesitating like he did with Gongenzaka, but THEN. Then out of nowhere, Shun is up on Revolution Falcon waiting to catch him and save him! Shun’s always been a reasonable and good person, but THIS SCENE fully displayed how much he cares about the innocent. And when he and Crow connected, I was just. It’s so beautiful.
Crow stood out as being better than Shinji was but he was just so good this time around, I’m so glad they didn’t drag him down. I’m so proud of him and Shun and I just love them all.
Jack’s smile was like the cherry on top, too. For once, we have a precious moment that’s not followed by Jean wrecking it, and Shun being at peace with his loss made it a lot easier to swallow, since he let Crow finish him off there.
Sora and Yuzu’s tag duel next episode looks like it’ll be amazing and pretty funny, but I’m worried what’ll happen with Security out in such large numbers. If there’s anyone I trust to judge Sora, it’s Tsukikage.
And I wonder what’s gonna happen to Yuuya now that he’s locked up in a cell? That doesn’t look too good.
*GROSS SOBBING* I KNOW RIGHT, IT WAS 2AM AND I WAS BAWLING MY EYES OUT WITH TEARS OF JOY.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR SHUN!
I’m looking forward to Yuzu and Sora tag-teaming, it will be a fun one- I hope! XD Both Yuzu and Sora are strong, they can handle the security, and if Tsukikage pops in, it might turn into a trio-team, an iffy one at that since i know Tsukikage will be wary of Sora. I believe he is good at making judgements, so I am interested in seeing how he will respond to Sora.
I joked earlier how it’d be funny if Yuuya goes into Beserker Mode to break out. XD
I’m not really surprised that Yuya wasn’t manipulated to join Jean but what really got me was Yuya retaining his confidence/ideals from watching Shuns duel.
Apparently they displayed the Commons being poor so they don’t have multi extra deck monster so they literally synchro summon form their graveyard(Phantom Synchro). I doubt they let out do that IRL.
I would probably think after Tsukikage runs into Sora he would mostly be feeling negative with the fact he carded his brother but he’ll likely restrain and form somewhat of a truce with him if Yuzu’s there with the kids. However that wouldn’t mean Tsukikage would instantly like him just go with “as long as my brothers sacrifice wasn’t for a complete waste then I’ll go along with it” , he even stated earlier with Reji was extremely cold hearted he would help him.
Tsukikage’s ultimate judgement is something to look forward to. It will be an interesting interaction that’s for sure. And it will also put Sora in a tough position, since Yuzu is going to be right there when all of this happens (or at least I hope so).
It seems like Shun has embraced Crowmmunism, with all his talk about “comrades” and “fighting a powerful enemy”. I gotta say, this makes me happy.
This…this episode…there are no words. Holy Mother of Ra….
The rescue of Tanner was AMAZING. Seeing Shun atop his monster…and then what he told the boy…THE FEELS!!! THE FEELS!!! I am CRYING right now!
It was so nice to see Crow and Shun relax and enjoy the duel, and become friends at the end of it all. (Always knew those two birdbrains would get along.)
And honestly, I’m REEEEEEALLY hoping for a Berserk Mode flare up. That’d really wipe that smug look off that asshole Jean’s face. He’s gonna wake the beast eventually…and it ain’t gonna be pretty. *Evil, evil smirk of anticipation* (Also really hoping for Yuuya VS Sergey duel…that’d be intense. But I don’t think it’ll happen…*sigh*)
On a side note, (surprised no one actually mentioned it) BORA. Crow summoned BORA THE SPEAR. NOSTALGIA!! It hurts, it hurts so GOOD! XD
